sorry, Sue ................ the phone went, and then I got involved in something else

do the coffee filters last long?

I would have thought they would get soggy, and break apart

I know I have had used filters break apart as I tried to move it and the coffee grounds over to the compost bucket.

Hello everyone,

I had typed out a long post yesterday after reading about the dreadful treatment of the Duchess and Tec, but deleted before posting. Similar to the post by Linda <3

Tec, please take this further, don't let them get away with their dreadful treatment and excuses. They try to cover things up thinking an apology fixes their mistakes.

Cwtches to you and the Dutchess <3

I wish I worked in Wales :-)

Waves to everyone <3

Perse :-D

Carole :-)

It's not an original idea. I saw it on a YouTube video about planting succulents in pots. Succulents don't like wet feet. I thought it was a good idea. They're cheap enough to buy as I get them in a dollar shop.

Sue ......... a coffee filter is a very good idea.

I've never thought about that.

Coffee filters are a good idea Sue, never thought of that.

Well I'd better get to bed,

Enjoy your day Sue, and Sylvia,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

I use broken pots and if I don't have any I use small stones. If the pot has decent drainage holes then I use a coffee filter over the holes to stop the soil dropping out. The filter obviously still allows drainage.

Tecwyn Report 31 May 2014 23:44

That's strange Sylvia, I don't understand that either.

When I potted up my new streptocarpus plants the other day I used a handful of horticultural gravel in the bottom of each pot for drainage, as they dislike soggy soil around their roots.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2014 23:40

actually, Tec ........

............... I saw something the other week in a gardening column over here that said it was not a good idea to use broken bits of pots.

I didn't quite understand their rationale, though I tried hard!

It was something about something leaching out into the soil

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 May 2014 23:39

Broken pots make very good crocks in the bottom of pots to improve drainage, but I expect you know that :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 31 May 2014 23:35

I dropped it, Sylvia :-( nice pot too.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2014 23:29

aw ..................... how nice of them to give you another pot.

How did you manage to break it?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 31 May 2014 23:28

I also knew that more pots would be finding a new home :-)

Tec ............ I guess that I am very good at cwtchs then :-D

and a group hug might be very much in order, Sue :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 31 May 2014 23:27

I did break one but the lovely young couple gave me another. They asked if we would like to see the house when it's finished. That would be lovely as they are working so hard.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 May 2014 23:25

I knew that you would go for more pots - I just knew it.

but I would have been so disappointed if you hadn't :-D

Can image the teasing you had from the family - mothers gone potty :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 31 May 2014 23:22

Perhaps a group hug is in order, Sylvia :-). I'm sure you give lovely hugs - I can tell these things :-)

Well Tec......yes.....I bought another 10 pots :-D. My ever patient OH loaded them into the back of the car without a comment but boy was I teased when we visited our daughter and SIL last night :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 31 May 2014 23:19

Sylvia - in Wales a hug is known as a "cwtch" - cootch - and really means the kind of hug your grandmother might give you.
:-D

One of my grandmothers gave wonderful hugs :-) cured all sorts of ills

Hello Sue, :-)

They just try to cover their own backs. There were obvious discrepancies in the version of what happened, so someone is lying.

Trouble is these homes are owned by business men whose only interest is making money. Paying rubbish wages to anyone willing to work there.

I am dying to know - did you go for more pots? :-D
