You do make me grin Tec :-) I'm sure you could make your own eye patch but a parrot may be a bit of a challange ..lol
I've had a mixed day today , I was having to stay in all day ( which suited me , as it was raining ) , I was waiting fo a man to come and look at the boiler ( again ) , it hasn't been right since a chap came about a month ago to do the yearly safety check . It needed new parts after the check and now it needs a heat exchange ? o some such thing . Thankfully it will be sorted out as this is a council property . I was having a nice quite day until eldest daughter turned up and landed me with little Tommy , his brother Addison has fallen over and cut his chin ,it was a deep wound and my daughter insisted on taking him to the A&E dept . Not long after Tommy arrived , middle daughter called in with her two girls ( Emily and Isla ) and she bought dog Buster with her , he likes nothing better than running around my garden doing lots of his buisness . It doesn't bother me but our dog Milo hates it :-| and as soon as he spots him through the window he starts his high pitched barking . Then the added stress of keeping Milo away from Buster begins , every time one of the kiddies leaves the living room it has to be escorted through the doors . I have to admit , I was more than happy when they all went back to their homes ......lol

Amanda It is good that Meg already knows people at her new workplace. Much nicer than landing amongst complete strangers.
I'm sure that I will get used to my wooden leg quite well. They don't supply the parrot or the eye patch. So if I want a part in Pirates Of The Carribean I will have to get my own :-D
Sorry to have been so long answering you, but I had to take a phonecall.

Hello Linda , glad to hear you had a nice time with you friend . I except you have gone off to sleep by now , so I wish you sweet dreams .
Is Sue off on her holidays ?
Thank you Tec , I'm sure my Meg will soon feel at home in her new job , she already knows a couple of the staff members ( one of them is her boyfriends sister and another used to live down our road and has known Meg since she was a kiddie ) . It is good to hear you have your new leg and with a matching shoe :-D what happens if the weather gets very hot , will you be spotted with a sandle on your good foot and a shoe on the new one ;-) I hope you soon get to grips with the " peg " leg :-)

Hello Everyone, :-)
Glad that you had a nice day with your friends. It would be silly not to get together as you are staying in the same area. It did absolutely pore with rain all day here, like a monsoon. The forecast is for improving weather. Yesterday was very warm, and that is supposed to be returning tomorrow. Enjoy yourselves. :-)
Hello Amanda, That's wonderful news about your daughter and her job. Congratulations to her. I hope that she likes it there, and does well.
I went to the Artificial Limb Centre in Wrexham today. They have made my leg, and I had some practice on the parallel bars. It all feels very strange, but will get better with practice. They said I am doing very well anyway. They fitted a matching shoe to the foot. It was so good to look down at a pair of shoes again :-D

That is really good news Amanda, I hope she settles in well and enjoys her job
We spent a very nice day with my friend. It is daft to come all this way and have coffee as we do back home. While we were chatting in the sun her daughter phoned and said they had torrential rain and floods back home
I should think Sue is tucking into pasta and pizza right now :-D
Time to sleep her so I hope everyone else has had as good a day as Amanda

Good evening folks :-)
I just had to share my happy news . Daughter Megan went for an interview a couple of days ago at a care home in the area . It seems the manager was so impressed with her that he more or less offered her the job on the spot , the only reason he couldn't was that he had already said " yes " to a woman the day before but wasn't certain if she would take the job or not . It has turned out well for my Meg , she has been signed up today :-D when she went in today to make it " offical " the manager was already saying he thinks she is " surpervisor " material :-0 She will be on minium wage but that in itself is more than she was on at the cafe , due to her age ( 20 in a few days time ) she was on £5.03 an hour , this place are going to pay £6.71 an hour ( which is over 21 year olds minium wage ) . She is very happy and looking forward to starting her new job in a couple of weeks time :-D
Tec , it is good to know the Duchess was happy to chat on the phone .

A perfectly silly game Persie
We are going into town soon to meet a good friend from back home. She is on holiday in Elounda which is just a few miles down the coast. She always stays at the same hotel every year at the same time we are here. There is a good bus service between thee two places. She is coming to our town today as it is market day. We will have a wander and look at the tat then have lunch. After that we will come back here for the afternoon before we put her back on the bus
It is a good idea talking to the carers Tec. I am glad your chat with the Duchess went well, if she wasn't upset by it maybe you can do it regularly

I was going to put this on one of Jem's rugby threads but decided to do it on here so she better pop over and see it.
A Perfectly Simple Game
Rugby is a perfectly simple game where the forwards pass the ball back to the backs, and the backs run forward and keep passing it back till they get all the way forward.
If they pass it forward instead of back, then it's a forward pass, even if the one passing it forward is a back.
When the backline gets the ball over the front line, which is called the goal line, they don't get a goal, they get a try.
If they don't get it over, but only try to get a try then it's no try. Then they try for a conversion. If they get that over , the try plus the goal is called a converted try - except in the UK where it's called a goal.
A try is five-sevenths of a goal, and the last two sevenths is scored by the first five eighths, or number 10 - except in the UK, there are no five-eighths and number 10 is Tony Blair's place... (it was when this was written of course now it is David's place) and when this was written number 10 was Tony Brown's place in Dunedin.. Tony Brown was a NZ first five-eighth's goal kicker.
Back play is a game of opposing fractions. There are two five-eighths and three three-quarters.
Two five-eighths is a total of ten-eighths, and three three-quarters is nine quarters, or another eighteen eighths.
So that's a total of twenty-eight eighths per team, which when multiplied by two is fifty-six eighths, or seven, which is the number of backs in a team, including halfbacks.
Rugby is a game of two halves, especially in the UK where there are no five-eighths. But even there, it's perfectly simple.......
The inside half plays inside the outside half, who's also an inside back. Outside him is the inside centre, who plays outside the outside half but inside the outside centre.
The inside centre, like the outside half, is also an inside back, while the outside centre is an outside back, who loves to cut back inside.
Normally the outside centre plays outside the inside centre and inside his outsides, but on occasions the inside and outside centres swap sides, and play inside out.
If you find this is at all confusing, just remember that both sides always play outside, even when it's raining, and they'd rather be inside on their backsides.
;-)

Hello Everyone,
It's been a beautiful day here, 27C this afternoon. I think we were the warmest place in the UK today. Tomorrow is forecast rain.
Linda my garden is also in that in between stage. The Spring flowers are finished, but the summer ones not yet showing. Everywhere looks so green, and growning like a jungle.
Berona, There is a lot to consider in moving the Duchess to another home. I am conscious of the upheaval it would be for her, yet again. The manager of the home phoned me today about a minor matter, and as the Duchess was in the office with her she passed the phone for me to speak to her. She sounded fine, telling me what she had for lunch, and other routine things she was doing. Much of her time is spent reading, as she did at home. The Care Workers that were calling on me daily until recently are clued up regarding the Nursing Homes in the area as some of them have worked in the homes at various times. They know the good from the bad, as they see them from the inside. Amongst other enquiries I am making I shall seek their advice also.

Your garden sounds lovely Tec, ours is going through a bit of a green phase at the moment, the earlier colour has gone over and the later flowering things aren't out yet. I need some things for this time of year, but for the last few years we seem to have been to busy to sort it out. Ones of these days I will get round to it.
It sounds like Sue is abandoning us, but I am sure she will turn up again :-D

It is cloudy here Berona, but warm enough. We read on the beach this morning, but it clouded over at lunchtime and the wind got up, so we retired for lunch. The barman was expecting rain so he has moved all of the cushions inside. It was getting very windy so we have come back to our room. The rooms have very large covered balconies which are well sheltered so we have set ourselves up for the afternoon. They had a nice wooden sofa with comfy cushions, plus a wooden table and fabric chairs, instead of the usual white plastic ones. As part of the refurbishment They have put new tables and chairs out, but taken away the sofas. Not to be thwarted we have lifted the two seated sofa out of the room, so I am draped over that looking at the sea and typing to you. It isn't as comfy as the original one which was long enough to stretch out on, but better than nothing

We are having lovely weather here too. Third day of winter to-day and expected high temp of 20c. We keep saying 'it can't last' but have been saying that for longer that we thought we would! Can't complain though - just make the best of it whilst we can.
Tec - how are you going with your quest for another place for the duchess? Take your time with that. Now that you have made your feelings known, she might receive better attention where she is, than somewhere else - and there is the matter of moving her again and her getting used to the new place - but keep looking around, anyway.

My garden is so crowded that really there is no space for a family to sit out there. I often do, but there's only me. I was looking today at the rough areas in my garden that I can no longer get at, so will just have to ignore them. My front garden is tidy and orderly, the back garden resembles a garden centre :-D
Well I must go to bed now, been busy doing paperwork and time caught up with me.
Enjoy you day Sue,
Goodnight, Tec. :-)

Pots are my passion and I also have many.....even more now :-D I have tidied up under the pergola so it doesn't look so crowded. I don't have a lot of plants on the front verandah as it can look too crowded. When we have a family get together we use the verandah to set up a table and chairs.

I am hoping the garden will look good in the summer. It looked beautiful through Spring, with all the flowering shrubs out. Wisteria, rhodondendrons, magnolia, etc. The hydrangeas should look good, and the pots with summer flowers.
My Sil commented at the weekend that there are so many pots that the sides are closing in on me. He does have a point :-D
