It sounds fantastic Sue, you are going to be worn out by the end of the holiday

Hello everyone :-D

It doesn't take long to get back to normal, Linda. Once the washing is done anyway. Thankfully our garden won't be overgrown when we get back but my indoor plants may be dead :-(

Today we drove to Siena. We climbed up into the hills and saw the most beautiful views. In Sienna we went into the Duomo which is beautiful and strolled through the streets. We had lunch in a small cafe - very nice. We then went to a small hilltop fortress called Monteriggioni. Very interesting. It has been extremely hot today but a thunderstorm and a little rain freshened the air. Tomorrow we leave Florence and drive to the Cinque Terre via Pisa. Should be good :-)

Good evening

well I pottered in the jungle this afternoon, it was the garden before we went away, but has grown incredibly.

I also did the large pile of ironing, so everything is back to normal now. It is still really warm and I am sitting with the patio door open. The forecast is for it to get cooler tomorrow,so I may as well enjoy it while I can

Good morning :-D

I must say that I feel so much better, I was out for the count last night. I woke up at 5.30am, but managed to go back over and didn't get up until 9am

It is a lovely sunny day,so I shall potter

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Jun 2014 22:38

I take size 8 as well Amanda. so I sympathise with you. It is much easier these days to get a good selection of nice shoes

Well I had better take myself to bed, I have done well to keep going until now

Goodnight Tec and Amanda

Amanda you must have been ahead of your time in having good foundations :-D maybe shoe manufacturers have only in recent years realised that ladies do have larger feet now.

Linda my high days were when I could walk Ianto to the top of the mountain and see across to Ireland on a clear day.

I did have many very high days when on a massive dose of morphine :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Jun 2014 22:27

I don't think I have had any high days, holidays yes, but high days no

Are your high days when you have taken too much morphine?

Amanda2003 Report 11 Jun 2014 22:26

Linda , I expect you will get to your allotment soon , you'll be wanting to see what you will be pickerling this year :-)

Tec , to be honest I have never been style conscious and especially where footwear is involved . I have rather large feet ( size eight ) and back in my young days there was very little choice as to what would fit me . These days the shoe sizes go up to size nine in some outlets for ladies :-0 but if I try on anything with a heel ( just for fun ) , I end up walking like Dick Henry :-D

Edit to say ... opps , I meant Dick Emery .....lol

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 Jun 2014 22:14

Amanda - It is a great pity that you couldn't have had appropriate footwear from the start, but I can imagine the expense involved, and being quite young at the time you would have been conscious of style as well.
The surgeon that operated on me suggested that I do not use the prosthetic leg too much, as it would cause problems, and could result in further surgery. He suggested that I use the leg for "high days, and holidays" as he put it.
So I will be careful not to overuse it.
It will be good to be able to stand up again, and walk a bit though. Even look down and see two shoes again :-D

Linda I do have an old brush stale I could use thinking about it :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Jun 2014 22:00

Good evening Tec

I don't know why you need to go to all this fuss, surely you have an old brush shank in the shed which you could use

I haven't been to the allotment Amanda, I went to the supermarket this afternoon to stock up while Oh went to the allotment

Amanda2003 Report 11 Jun 2014 22:00

Good evening Tec , physio knows best . I was suppossed to wear a built up shoe after the accident but as I couldn't afford shoes that where decent enough to have a lift attached I soon gave up . If I tried to revert to a built up shoe now ( after 24 years ) I think it would cause more hard than good :-S

When you get your leg are you limited to how often you can use it ? I should imagine it is going to take some getting used to .

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 11 Jun 2014 21:54

Linda , I've been " stuck in " for three days at least ..... I feel I've gone full circle , again and the sorting obsession is leaving ......phew :-)

Our neighbours bees swarmed and decided they wanted to set up home in our beans , I'm glad she recovered them swiftly .

I hope your plot is growing well . Everything here is super early this year . The peas are in flower , we have dug up almost two rows of lovely new spuds and have been enjoying broccoli :-)

Tecwyn Report 11 Jun 2014 21:54

Hello Everyone,

Linda good to see you safely back after a lovely holiday, and you've brought the good weather back with you - thank you :-)

Amanda - At least finding the stamps disturbed gave you a break from being an agricultural labourer :-D
The physio at the wooden leg factory said that even the slightest difference in length of the leg would have a lasting effect on my hips and back, so the have to get it right.
I am sorry to know that you suffer in that way.

Sue - I could have brought the leg home and sawn a bit off for myself, but they wouldn't hear of it. :-D
Hope you are both still having a great time :-)

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Jun 2014 21:45

Oh dear Amanda, get stuck in there :-D

OH went to the allotment today and said our broad beans are shooting up, but they are no where near ready, they didn't go in until much later than yours of course

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 11 Jun 2014 21:37

Hello Linda , it is good to know you are home safe and sound . I hope you get a good catch up sleep tonight .

Sue , it sounds as if you are having a splendid time on your holidays :-D

Tec , I hope they get your leg sorted out soon . It is good to know they are paying such care to the detail . As I person with one leg slightly shorter than the other I can tell you it plays havoc with ones back :-(

I have been stuck in the world of stamps ..... again :-0 :-| :-P
I wouldn't as a rule even think about them in the summer time but unfortunatly one of the dogs have bought them firmly into my attention !
Bandit has decided she is having some sort of phantom pregnancy ( she is getting on for ten now and has never been giving the chance of having pups , we can only imagine her body clock has gone a bit do-lally ? ) , anyway , she had been " nesting " under our bed it seems , where lurk the stamps .......... it wasn't until I noticed a quantity of loose stamps , spilling in a cascade from my side of the bed that I was forced to investigate . Not only has she managed to tear the cardboard box into a thousand pieces but she has also shredded numerious bags and sent thousands of " machin " stamps ( both decimal and pre-decimal ) into a rummaged , muddled mess :-0
Thank goodness she didn't get her paws on the actual albums ( they are in an old fashioned suit case ) . Anyway , I have had to sort through the stamps ..... again !
On the plus side , I had pulled a muscle in my side ( harvesting broad beans ) , so it is just as well that I have been doing something as leisurely as stamp sorting ....lol

It has been hot , hot , hot today , I am rapidly turning brown :-)

Hello Sue, don't get museumed out :-D

I think they should just have put some corks under his other shoe
