Hello everyone :-D
A tiring but great day today. We went to Pompeii. It was so interesting but also quite sad. Imposing Mt Vesuvius is in the background. It's almost possible to imagine the dreadful panic felt by the townspeople when the volcano erupted.
Linda - I hope Esme is much better today and happy to be with Grandma.
Talk later :-)

Hello Everyone, :-)
Sue you must be doing some mileage :-) Hope the Italian drivers don't worry you too much. Have a great time in Sorrento and enjoy yourselves there.
Berona - You could always knock up some scones with fresh cream and strawberry jam :-D I'm sure any visitors would appreciate them. We are enjoying some very warm sunny days at last. Saturday will be the longest day. It was daylight till well gone 10-15pm tonight. I was convinced that you would be glued to the tele watching the football :-D not retiring to bed with a good book :-D
Linda I hope that Esme will be kind to you tomorrow, and that she is feeling better too. Don't go walking your legs off if you can help it :-).

Well I finally have a few minutes to myself.
OH went home this afternoon, leaving me with both of them. I took them to the park, but it started to rain,so we had to come back. Eve was then happy painting stones while I fed Esme. Poor Esme is not well, she has a runny nose and has needed Calpol all day. At least she seems happy enough with me. Tomorrow is the first of my regular three days and once Eve and mum leave for preschool and work, there will only be Esme to deal with.
I am glad you ventured out Tec, it must have been nice to catch up with the villagers

Hello everyone - I haven't read back so I hope all is well.
We are having a wonderful time. We left Florence last Friday and started on our way to Levanto and the Cinque Terre towns. We had a lovely boat ride and saw all the towns. It was wonderful. This evening we arrived in Sorrento - we have driven all day in the pouring rain but now it is sunny.
Talk later as we now have wifi again :-D

Hello all. Everyone getting along OK? Getting colder here. Still nice in the middle of the day but coming down slowly (17/18 this week) with the overnight temps dropping down to anything between 6 and 10 - making it very hard to get out of bed in the morning. No rain as yet - only the odd misty shower - which is no good for anything.
Glad you went out, Tec. Reading about scones with jam and cream on them made my mouth water. Haven't had that for many years. Nice to see people too - but you should know that the words "village" and "gossip":go together! Of course, everyone would know about you. Don't go overdoing things, now!
I've never heard of the name Lillydale toppings either, Carole. Must be a secret you Victorians are keeping from us!
Linda - you worry me a bit with all your travelling and baby-minding. You take care of yourself too.
Amanda - I haven't had a look at your photos yet. Must take a look at them.
Huia - another one to say 'take care' to as well! Careful! That drive of yours looks very slippery.
Well, I'm off to my bed and book now. Nothing worth watching on TV so I might as well switch off the aircon and snuggle down in my bed. I only need something over my shoulders whilst I read, as the room stays warm until well after I care about it! Goodnight all (or have a nice day!).

Hello Huia :-)
I am doing both. Watching football with one eye, and playing on here with the other :-D I hope that you are well, and have had no more mishaps.

Hello Everyone, :-)
Been a glorious day here. Very warm with a clear blue sky.
This morning I pottered about the garden. Tried to extricate a tough very pot bound plant from its pot. Eventually had to smash the pot in order to get it out. Sad really as it was a nice pot. I managed to split the plant into six with great difficulty as there was a tangled mass of strong roots. I like the plant, and it would have been a shame to see it die of neglect.
Last evening I was watering the pots in the front garden when along came the Vicar. He said he hoped to see me at the annual Strawberry Tea at the Vicarage. :-D By the end of the conversation I had more or less committed myself. So I bravely mounted my trusty scooter this afternoon and headed for the Vicarage. It was all terribly civilised. Ladies in their best floral frocks, gentlemen in straw hats and linen jackets. (I have neither) The fruit scones with strawberry jam and fresh cream were very nice, as were the bowls of strawberries and cream. A live quintet played appropriate music on the lawn, and I took refuge from the sun in one of the large gazebos. It was of course a fund raising event for the church and I think they did very well as it was well attended. As I haven't been in circulation for a while it was nice to catch up with people that I knew. It seems the whole village knew what had happened to me. Curious, as I thought I didn't know many people except by sight.
Linda - We haven't had any rain here. Maybe Esme is remembering you, and deciding to be friends with you, I hope so.
Carole - Thank you for the photo's. I will e-mail you tomorrow. I like your tortoises :-D Alfie is very like my neighbours dog Milo.
Persie - Sorry that you seem to be having a hard winter. Snow is very pretty to look at, but not easy to travel on. We get very little snow here as we are at sea level, and only about 500 yds from the beach. Whereas the little town of Dolthingy (as Linda knows it, because she can't pronounce it) only ten miles away gets buried in snow every year. Also if the snow comes from the East we are sheltered by the mountain. Well done to your rugby team. I was disappointed to lose by one point, but it might as well have been 101 - we still lost :-(

Nobody has posted on here for over 24 hours! Are you all watching the footy, or in Linda's case trying to calm small children? :-|

Well Eve is in bed singing away to herself which is fine . Esme is in her cot but not at all impressed at being left with us. She is supposed to turn on her side and go to sleep. At the moment shed is on her back protesting.
It doesn't help that it is so hot down here. It was a horrible rainy day at home when we left and it rained for most of the journey. It was torrential in north London, but it hadn't rained here at all.

Nearly all of Victoria is great!!
Saw Mt Hotham on the TV again the other night. They were talking about people speeding or going too fast for conditions.. we were going very slowly with chains on and behind a bus.. would not have wanted to go fast the snow on either side was high as.. and all the cars parked were buried in the snow.

Oh yes, Lilydale is a lovely place to visit, not when its wet though. I don't know if there is a connection to the toppings and the place, never given it a thought lol

Oh thanks Persie :-)
I am probably wrong with my spelling Perse, which is nothing new as Ive always been a terrible speller, thank goodness for spell check. Its probably called something else over where you are too. We have it on the outside of our pool area and also inside the pit, well its not a pit anymore, it was once and just retained the name. Its an alfresco area now lol
Freezing cold here and wet, roll on summer and I'll whinge some more :-D

Tec did change his e-mail address but it was quite a while ago now Carole. I will send you one I have now..
I had not heard of Lillydale toppings.. I have been to Lilydale (with one l after the lower case I..grr every time I do a small (iiiiiiii) on its own GR software treats me like an idiot and thinks I don't know what I am doing) ... as I was saying before it interrupted me I have been to Lilydale Victoria.. I am sure that is where we wandered around in the slightly damp park which had little falls etc was very pretty.. The rain just stayed away long enough for us to potter about.

Hello everyone,
Linda, I think what you have are what we call Lillydale toppings, although its probably called something else over there.
Tec, I think the Lillydale toppings would be excellent for your garden or wood chips because they look less stark, if that is the look you want. I tried to send you an email but you must have changed email address since the last time I emailed you.
Carole :-)

Have a safe journey tomorrow - it will be very hot so you'd better take something to drink - non alcoholic :-D
Goodnight - sleep well. :-)

Well now she is in her 70s, recently widowed, and has a broken ankle :-0 apparently her house has been in the family for nearly 200 yrs.
The car struggled in first gear most of the way up, through muddy forestry. Quite scary coming down. The lady announced she has a 4x4
