Hello Everyone, :-)

Another beautiful day weatherwise. I like to make the most of this weather in case it turns out to be our summer, as so often happens with a disappointing July and August.

I have been kept busy trying to keep up with the watering. There are so many pots front and back, and everything takes so much longer in the wheelchair. It was 10-30pm the other night and nearly dark before I finished. I also got bitten to death by midges who seemed to think I was supper :-(.

As has been mentioned England are out of the World Cup - surprise,surprise - but I did expect them to do a little better.
There were no English flags to be seen around me here in Wales, but as our neighbours I feel we should support them. Wales of course were not even in it.
I see that England have been murdered in the rugby matches with South Africa and New Zealand.

I was at the wooden leg clinic on Friday. My artificial leg is made, and I am practising walking on it. I've progressed from the parallel bars to using elbow crutches. It is hard work, and on Friday they were teaching me to turn, and sidestep. Techniques we don't even think about normally. Anyway I am apparently doing very well according to them, and after next week I may be transferred to a local hospital to be "finished off" :-D
That was alarming terminology as I came very close to being "finished off" in January :-D

My daughter and SIL arrived last night and left earlier this evening. I was good to see them, and this afternoon my daughter and I visited the Duchess at the home, while SIL did a little job for me at home. The visit went quite well, although she is becoming more confused now, and seems to have past and present very confused.

I wonder if Sue enjoyed her visit to Capri. I remember when the cruise ships docked in Naples years ago, many people took the short crossing over to Capri to go on organised coach trips to see Gracie Fields home.
I never understood this, and never understood the tours in Hollywood and Beverley Hills to see the homes of the stars of the screen - how very odd.

Oh dear Persie things sound bad, but as you say there are some lovely young people in the world as well to balance out the bad

It is nice that your grandson still wants to spend time with you. I suppose a time will come when it won't be cool, or whatever the current word is, so enjoy it while you can

I loved the T shirt, Sue's husband had on when he was having his coffee.

The football is more or less a non event in this household, it is relayed so long after the game it is really not worth watching.
I remember when we first got TV back in the sixties and every Sunday my father and I would watch the football.. we called it soccer then lol.. This would be the days of Geoff Hirst, Bobby Moore, and Bobby Charlton etc. Now I can't even keep up with the names.. bit the same with our Rugby.. must be getting too old.

Evan turned 13 yesterday and we went off to the 10 pin bowling to collect some of the boys and take them back to my daughters.. she took the rest of them back.. for cake and drinks. We will take him out somewhere next weekend, not so easy as he gets older. He has been the one to always want to spend the day with us.. I said to OH on the way home, how nice it was to have young lads of that age chatting away in the car and conversing with us as well and not being stupid or swearing. I say this because two young (thugs) one aged 13 are up before the courts for killing a shop owner recently.

The papers have been rife lately with killings and assaults, lovely young mother raped and killed and dumped in a cemetery the other week. We have a fair idea who did it but his name has not been released. I don't think he should have been released from gaol either but he had served his time.

That England would be out of the world cup was expected too Berona, well by me it was :-D

Esme is eleven months old now Berona, she was off colour last week because of a cold, but her condition is ongoing and caused by a rare genetic fault

I heard from Sue, she is having trouble connecting to the wifi. They went on a boat trip to Capri yesterday which they enjoyed and are now off to Rome

I hope everyone else is OK on this lovely sunny morning

Berona Report 21 Jun 2014 03:24

Sorry to know that England is out of the World Cup. Sorry about Australia too, but that was to be expected. However, they did themselves proud, so I am now sorry that I didn't watch it. I though it would be a slaughter, and I'm happy to say I was wrong.

Linda - is Esme's current situation because of a cold? or is it continuous? How old is she now?

Oh well England are out of the football :-D :-D

I hope things are more straightforward for your daughter this time Persie. While August will be fine with you, it would be nicer if mum wasn't away for a long time.

It has been a lovely day hear, I pottered around sorting some admin out this morning, then went to the supermarket this afternoon. I need to do lots of housework over the weekend as we are expecting visitors soon :-D

You sound like a nine to five work day worker and looking forward to a sleep in on a Saturday morning.

I have gone around all day today thinking it is Saturday.. stupid really as one of the painters was here and a chap came to measure the little kitchen window over the sink area .. for a small roller blind.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 19 Jun 2014 22:44

It is really only breakfast which is the problem now Persie. She is full of slime and that has to come out, plus this week she has had a horribly runny nose. Once all that comes up she is much happier. She wasn't sick at all for the rest of the feeds today. I still ended up changing her at lunch time though because the tube came out of the stomach button and I covered her tummy in baby food

I am shattered so won't wait around, I am looking forward to not playing at an ungodly hour tomorrow

Oh dear poor you Linda, as much as you love your grandchildren must be so difficult with Esme, with her and her cycle of eat and then throwing up again.

August used to get like that when he had a cold, we were having a lovely Japanese meal in Christchurch , he was eating away and then he stopped and I thought uh oh and then the mop and bucket had to come out.. have to choose places that are not carpeted.

My youngest is expecting due early December. Hopefully all will go well, she has just rung to make sure I can go down at a moment's notice to look after August nearer the due date in case she ends up in hospital well before the event like she did last time.

I guess things take so much longer with watering the garden now Tec, but thankfully legwise you will be more mobile and getting around that much quicker..

I think I may have told you about a chap who was in hospital when my father was getting over a hip replacement. This chap was getting over having his second leg amputated.. gosh he could swing himself around from wheelchair to bed. After he was out of hospital and had his legs fitted etc he came to see me in the bookshop. Amazing he walked really fast but what he was so pleased about was he could choose how big his feet would be. He had always had big feet before but opted for smaller ones and he said you have no idea how much better they fit in the car when driving.

Sue, you are having a great time love your little travel excerpts, and the photos on FB..

Cheers to all Persie.

Well Eve got up at 6.15am to play princesses and pirates with me this morning. As she had to leave early today I had her all ready to go when mummy appeared. Except she had to take off her princess dress which was over her ordinary clothes. That meant a mega tantrum. I was glad when she left because the howling was at ear shattering levels

Esme is still enough, she is playing nicely on the floor but I need to give her breakfast soon, so she will throw up again.

Later thus morning the play team are coming to play with her for an hour. Apparently they don't do much, but I suppose they go into homes where the parents have no idea how to play with babies

Hello Everyone, :-)

Linda I'm sure you made a very realistic pirate :-D
Poor Esme :-0 I hope she feels better soon.

Sue pleased to see that you are both having a wonderful holiday, and that you've heard all is well at home.

Amanda - The parties sound very exciting :-D I wonder if todays toddlers know about Mickey and Minnie Mouse?
I remember my daughter being absolutely terrified of people that suddenly approached her in town dressed as the PG Tips monkeys :-D That was in the 60s when she was about four.
I did enjoy the Vicars Strawberry Tea Party - there was something very quaint about it, and it seemed to me to be a very English affair..
Given that we are in darkest Wales it was a curious if enjoyable event.

We are all old Amanda :-(

My poor daughter is shattered because Esme has slept so badly for the past two nights. She has been crying on and off since she went to bed, so I don't think they are going to get any sleep tonight either.

I am turning in early in case the little princess is up as early tomorrow. She wont be though because her mum needs to leave for work half an hour earlier than normal. That will guarantee Eve will have to be woken up

Just nipping in to say a quick " hello " :-D

I've almost completed the June " birthday hurdles " . It was party time on the 14th at daughters house . Since she now has a vast empty garden in the countryside she had decided on a duel party for the boys , Addison 3 and Tommy 2 .
Lots of young ones tearing about ( friends children and all the cousins ) . She had a large bouncy castle and the added " entertainment " of Minnie and MIcky mouse doing a " surprise " appearence . It certainly turned out to be more than a surprise for half a dozen of the kiddies , as they ran indoors in complete terror at the sight of them ...... lol Thankfully they didn't hang around for long and the worried toddlers where tempted outside once more . Bet thats a party none of them will forget :-0
Today is my youngest daughters birthday ( Meg ) , she is no longer a teenager , we had a BBQ in the garden , sadly the sun did not show its face but at least the rain held off .
I think I need an early night , I feel OLD lol

Tec , the strawberry cream tea sounds like a delightful event , I hope you enjoyed catching up with some of the other villagers .

Linda , I hope that Esme is soon over her cold <3

~~~~~ to everyone :-)
Ah the Almalfi coast drive , it would be romantic if it wasn't for the continuous line of coaches. Always they are only allowed to travel,in one direction
SueMaid Report 18 Jun 2014 20:34
Oh poor Esme :-( You must be exhausted, Grandma <3
We took a bus to Amalfi today. We went along the scariest roads with mad drivers but saw the most beautiful scenery. We had lunch in Amalfi and a wander around the town before the skies opened and it poured. It was all over in five minutes. Luckily we had rain ponchos so we kept dry.
We've had messages from the family and seems to be well at home.
Australia lost to Holland :-(
Grr, I have been up since 6.30am playing princesses and pirates _ don't ask. Then Eve went off to preschool and I have had Esme. She has a dreadful cold so is full of slime to add to her normal slime. That all has to come up before she is happy. She is currently rolling on the floor playing. I have to sit on the floor as well
A quick hello :-D
We have travelled a good deal through Italy and seen so much with more to come. However we know it's not possible to see everything so we have prioritised. I love it here although we are missing the children.
Hopefully I will be able to get on this evening. The wifi is excellent.
I expect everyone else is in bed now :-)
Was watering the garden till 10-30pm, very nearly in the dark. It has been so hot that I had to water all the pots in the back and front gardens.
It's such a struggle because I can't carry a watering can through to the front, so use the hosepipe, which means getting it through the house on it's reel. Takes ages at a few feet at a time - anyway, all done.
Sue I have been tracking you on a map of Italy - wow - you are certainly packing a lot in.
I laughed today at a Welsh news item. They were interviewing passengers off an American cruise ship that docked in Holyhead Anglesey for the day.
Apparently they had been to Caernarfon castle, and a coach trip through part of Snowdonia. One lady said that she was pleaded that they had the chance to "do" Wales :-D Tomorrow they are "doing" Ireland :-D
Linda so pleased that Esme is making friends with you :-) She must remember you from before your holiday, which must make life easier for you both.
Well I'm off to bed now - Goodnight :-)
Hi Linda - we were looking at tours that included Herculaneum. Must try to get there.
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Jun 2014 20:15
Hello Sue, I hope that if you are in the area that you will have time to go to Herculaneum as the remains are much better than Pompeii.
Esme is perfectly happy with me now thank goodness. She only slept for fifteen minutes during the day which is both amazing and annoying.
