Hello everyone :-D

Party time at Linda's house :-D

Oh dear Sylvia - I hope your OH isn't in too much pain and all is fixed up soon <3

Berona - the family has reported lots of sunshine.

Tec - how nice to have your granddaughter come to stay as well as your daughter and SIL.

Scotland is so full of wonderful scenery it is almost overwhelming. The highlands are spectacular.

Sorry not to have added over the weekend, my son and his girlfriend have been here, they leave tomorrow morning

we have been out at the Tour de Yorkshire, all day yesterday and most of today. Interesting but exhausting

I am off to Centre Parcs tomorrow for a week, but I will take my tablet so will have more time to post.

I haven't packed yet, so I must go.

Hello, :-)

Another lovely warm sunny day.

My daughter, SIL, and grand daughter went home this afternoon.
It was lovely to see them, particularly grand daughter as I don't get to see her that often now, since she went to Uni.
Next week she returns to Southampton to begin a six week placement in a company that specialises in the type of subject that is allied to the course that she is on. She is excited about that as much of her work will be in the laboratories.

Sylvia I hope that you OH is not in too much pain, and that he can get an early referral from his GP.

Berona you seem to be getting nicely through your winter with fair weather.
We can't complain about our summer so far, and have had some lovely warm weather so far. Traditionally the weather breaks as soon as the school summer holiday begins, which will be in about two weeks from now.
I get my wooden leg tomorrow, and the first thing I will do is practice our tango.
Sadly I have no chance of winning the lottery, as I haven't bought a ticket so far this year, because I can't get to the shops that sell them.

Sue I hope that you are both enjoying your Scottish excursion, and the weather kind to you.

Linda - not sure which end of the country you are at present as I've lost track - just hope that you don't meet yourself coming back :-D

Hopefully tonight I can get to bed at a reasonable hour as there is no football to keep me up :-)

Berona

Berona Report 6 Jul 2014 11:03

Nobody arround - but hello to all, anyway. Hope the travellers are finding their way around Scotland OK.
Linda - sad about your friend. That is so common, isn't it? and can strike any age.
Sylvia - you are having a rough time at the moment too. Is your OH going to have the operation soon? or will you have to wait a long time like some people have to wait in some hospitals. I hope he isn't in much pain until it can be fixed.

Still having beautiful sunshine during the day. Nippy in the early morn and after sundown - which is early here. We've just had our shortest day recently, but right now sundown is about 5.30pm and it gets nippier from then on. Still good for this time of year, though.

Hi Sue, and everyone

we're back!

I haven't yet read back .................. and not sure if I will ever find the time to catch up with you all :-)

Linda ................ I'm sorry to hear about your friend. Breast cancer, like all cancers, is a terrible disease.

I count myself very lucky to be a survivor twice over.

We had a good trip north. The celebration went well ................ about 20-25 people turned up to help drink to my sis-i-l ...........

.......... although they didn't make that much impression on the 44 bottles of wine that her children had found in the liquor "cupboard" :-)

The spreading of the ashes took place on June 30 ....................... the "kids" managed to borrow a special all-terrain vehicle type of thing that could get me from the parking area up the very steep path to the top of the knoll where the action was to take place. We all found our own little private spots to place some of the ashes, under trees and shrubs.

We as a family also ended up spending several hours on both Sunday and Monday in the Emergency ward of the local hospital.

First of all, my daughter needed treatment on Sunday .................. she is now OK and went home as planned on Tuesday

Then OH had to go in on Monday with bad gut pains .................... ultrasounds, ECGs and x-rays finally showed that he has a hernia in his diaphragm that has allowed some of his stomach to move up into his chest, and will need an operation to correct it. They administered quite a few doses of morphine to get the pain down, and then released him

He slept well that night

It has apparently been developing for several years ..................... now he is on small frequent meals until he can see his GP and get referral to a specialist.

Tec .............. (((HUGS)))

take care everyone

Tec - So glad to know that you have been to see the Duchess and that your family is with you. Hope you all have a lovely visit.

I'm watching to make sure we hear from Sue - otherwise I'll begin to think that Nessy does exist!!

Hello :-)

Beautiful hot sunny day today, in contrast to yesterday, that was truly gruesome, wet and windy.

Linda I wonder if you had a good view of the Tour de France riders? The tv coverage was good, especially the ariel views.

Hello Diane - my brother is collecting my wooden leg for me on Monday, and bringing for me, so I can get practising, and falling over no doubt.
Can't wait to get my driving licence back, but it shouldn't be long, as there seems to be some movement on it. Hope you are well, and have been out in the sunshine lately.

My daughter, SIL, and grand daughter are here until tomorrow. We went to visit the Duchess this afternoon. She was quite well, gets a bit emotional when we get there, but soon recovers.
I spent some time with her while the others went shopping. That was nice. I will be visiting again on Tuesday when her sister who is over from Hong Kong will visit.
It is noticeable that she is deteriorating in dementia, and her nerves are shot at, which is very sad for me to witness.
Her diabetes is quite unstable at the moment, but that is nothing new as it was a constant battle when I was looking after her at home.

Hope Sue hasn't been got by the Loch Ness Monster :-D

Unfortunately I will be in London when the funeral takes place, but that can't be helped.

Hurray the match is over so I will say goodnight

It is a horrible disease Linda, and seemingly so common now. I did see that there is now a test women can have to see if they carry that faulty gene, available to those with a family history of breast cancer.

My SIL who now lives in Hong Kong and is visiting on Tuesday had it in 2003, but luckily it was diagnosed early, and thankfully she was cured after a long struggle.

SueMaid

I'll say goodnight to you both as we want to make an early start in the morning. I hope you manage to get some sleep tonight, Linda.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jul 2014 22:49

I a just pleased that the end came fairly quickly, it is a horrible disease. I think she must have carried the faulty gene because both her mother and grand mother died from it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 4 Jul 2014 22:44

I am so sorry to hear that Linda, sorry for you, her family, and other friends.
I know that you visited your friend often, and met for coffee occasionally.

It is so sad that you have lost three friends now to breast cancer. <3

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 4 Jul 2014 22:39

I hope not, I am tired, I didn't sleep very well last night because I got an email just before I went to bed telling me that my friend had died. The one with breast cancer, I had been visiting her in hospital as often as I could. That makes three close friends list to the same thing
