Just looking in.

We drove up from Shropshire this morning, the I got the train down south this afternoon :-(

When I arrived it looked like WW3 had hit the house, my daughter had to leave at 7am this morning and didn't get back until 9.30, she has another long day tomorrow as well, she is scattering neutrons or something like that. Daddy had been in charge all day and both girls where still up when I arrived. I whipped Eve of to bed while he dealt with Esme. I have been clearing up since then. They had been away for the weekend and didn't get back until late yesterday, all the stuff from that is all over so I think I will be unpacking that tomorrow.

Congratulations on the new doors Amanda, I hope you enjoy your boat trip, it still sounds too Rocky for me

Berona,

I am fortunate to have such a good neighbour. She has been very supportive and helpful.
All my neighbours are nice people, and that makes a difference. Most are elderly, so I don't see much of them.
Next door but one there is a young couple. One is a doctor, and the other a vet.

Yesterday and today has been much cooler thank goodness. The heat has been unbearable, with high humidity.
Today was 20C with a light breeze, that dried a line full of washing.

Amanda the cats would work the cat flap out, especially at feeding time :-D

I can't think of anything more peaceful than sailing the Broads in a gentle breeze.
Really hope the weather is good for you both.

Well done on catching the carp - keep practicing :-D

We desperately need rain here. Can't remember when we had a decent rainfall.
We had a very light shower last night, but not enough to make any difference. I am having to use the hose.

Tomorrow I am off to physio for walking practice with Archie :-D

:-D It is lovely to know you had a visitors yesterday Tec .

I have to say my new doors are posh ( far better than one would expect from the council :-0 ) . The cats have been most confussed but have , I believe , got used to the new cat flap at last .

I hope the weather holds out for next week . I don't fancy the idea of lightening if we have the tallest mast in the area :-0 :-0 mind you , it isn't far away if we need to run for home . I certainly won't be going out into the dreaded North Sea but I am hoping we can get the sails up on the river , I may be able to get to grips with the thought of sailing in a more gentle situation .

I went fresh water fishing for the first time last week and caught a reasonable sized carp on the very first cast ! I fell over on the bank and everything in the excitement of the moment ......lol Having said that , the next cast ended up in a tree :-|

Hello, :-)

I am intrigued to know who this very special gentleman is :-D

Strangely I also was visited by two delightful ladies yesterday :-D

Linda I hope that you have arrived safely down South, and that the children were pleased to see you.

Sue I expect that you are in an airport hotel tonight. I hope it's more comfortable than the tent.
Have a good flight home.
You must be looking forward to being home again, and seeing everyone.

Amanda - New doors eh - there's posh :-D.
Hope you have a nice time on your yacht - and the weather is kind to you, but don't get venturing into the North Sea :-D

Hello to you all .

I wonder if the " very special Gentleman " is who I think it is ?

Safe journey home to you Sue . I hope your garden hasn't gone to wild in your absence :-0

Linda , I hope you haven't been caught up in the " freak " weather down South .

I've been having a busy time . New doors fitted to the house ( front and back ) a few days ago . It is strange being able to get in the front door at the drop of the handle , the old door had a yale latch , so if it shut behind one it was locked . I have to keep reminding myself to lock up at night :-0

We are planning to take the boat onto Oulton Broad for a few days later in the week , the bridges and lock are alll booked up . We won't be able to go very far up the rivers off the main broad due to the mast being rather tall but it will still be a pleasent experiance ( I hope ) :-S

Have a good journey down south Linda.

I also felt sad saying goodbye this morning :-( <3

The house we stayed in was quite incredible and I really couldn't get my head around how old parts of the house are.

Our visit with a very special gentleman was wonderful <3

I am back home after spending the weekend with my sister. Sue and her OH we're bemused at staying in a house where large parts were built in 1580, the newer parts are still 350 years old, ther isn't a straight line in the whole place.

We took a little journey yesterday yo spend the day with a very special gentleman <3

It was very sad this morning saying goodbye to Sue, they fly home tomorrow

I just gave a short time to regroup before I catch the train down to London, my daughter is away overnight for work, so the girls are going to miss her

Tec - I'm so pleased to learn that your neighbour is so nice. It makes a difference to know that someone is close at hand and willing to help. She sounds like a very nice and caring lady.

Sue - I gather that you are coming home next week? Perhaps you should stay another month as I can see the forecasts - next week again 22 and even 23 on Wed/Thurs - then a drop to 18 and 16 on Fri/Sat so perhaps August may intend to be 'normal'. I hope not because I hate being cold and those top temps don't stay with us for long - only between 1 & 3pm. Our mornings and evenings are still very nippy.

I haven't told himself yet but I am planning to have a fish tank avec fish of course when we move.

That thought had occurred to me Linda about someone driving off with it, but we can disable it.

Tec we will be that much closer to Wellington it is about 150kms south of where we are now.. so well out of the city.. thought this city of ours keeps stretching itself.

Can't wait for tomorrow :-D

Hello, :-)

Another hot day, but a breeze that was very welcome. This evening there was a light shower. Not enough to do any good in the garden.

My daughter and SIL came for the day. We went to visit the Duchess, she was fine and it was a good visit. Daughter left this evening for home.

I have been playing with my new fish. They seem to have settled down in their new home - nobody has eaten anyone else - yet :-D

Linda I hope you are having a good time with your sister. Hope Sue manages to find you.

Persie your truck/horse box/ whatever it is sounds interesting, and useful.
Are you planning to move far away, or in roughly the same locality?

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 26 Jul 2014 09:02

I hope no one drives off with all your furniture while it is stored in the truck Persie :-(

I am currently at my sisters house where we are staying for the weekend, sue and her OH are joining us today and staying for a couple of nights before they head back down under.

We have a lovely day planned for tomorrow :-D

Persephone

Persephone Report 25 Jul 2014 23:48

No we don't have a horse.. this one has a Luton body.. This is for moving all our furniture etc .. it has bins inside and the chap we bought it off said they put all their dishes etc in the bins.

We have a fair amount of furniture gathered over the years, though we will be short on beds, both double we have, will be chucked so we do have to get new beds.

What we plan to do is move to a rental while we are still looking for a place and rather than fork out for two furniture movers plus storage etc. we will just use what we want from the truck in the rental and then repack and move to the house of "our agreed choice" and then sell the truck.

He had jokingly said one day, I think I will buy a truck.. he has always liked trucks and we had a little one with a tray on it called Rupert back in the seventies. I said what a good idea, is this for moving, he hadn't thought about that aspect. But what a to do going and looking at trucks, some of which I am not sure I would put my dog in if I had a dog.

Hello, :-)

I had a wonderful day out today.
My neighbour (Milo's mother) decided I needed a day out following the disappointment I had re my driving licence.
Anyway we went to a huge garden centre, the biggest I have ever seen.
I was very restrained, and only bought three small plants. Truth is I have no space for anything. Next Spring when my garden is re-organised, I would like to go back. We had a nice lunch there.
There was also a tropical fish shop, so I bought a few more fish.

It was silly hot all day, but the forecast is for cooler weather at the weekend.

Hello everyone :-D

Amazing weather Berona :-)

A horse truck, Persie :-0. Why?

You can be our guide, Sylvia - you can show us the wonderful sights of Canada. Then it's back to your house for a party :-D

Berona

Berona Report 25 Jul 2014 11:34

Sylvia - that sounds like it would be a lovely scenic trip. I envy you.

Sue - You will understand why I'm amazed at our weather. Late July and getting a temperature of 22c???? Even the o/night temps are not around zero like they should be - they are more up around 8c. With only one more month of Winter left, it makes me wonder if we will get Winter at all. It also makes me wonder what our Summer will be like too !!... We keep getting forecasts for rain - but if we do get any, it's not worth talking about - and I still have to water my pots !!
Hope you are enjoying every minute of your trip.

OK Persie - I'll be the one to ask the obvious question.....
Do you have a horse to put in your new horse truck?

Tec - I'm sure you would have asked Persie that question if I had not. Hope all is well with you and the duchess too. Thinking of you a lot. Take care.

Back from Ohura a little while ago we have now bought a horse truck.
