The problem with the old tea sets is that no one seems to want them, they don't make much at auction. That is a shame because they are so much cheaper than buying new

I've just realised there are about five tea sets in this house. One a wedding present that has never been used.

I kept all the good china hidden from you Sue, I did get it out today :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 23:15

I came to realise that mugs are more practical than cups and saucers really, especially now

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Aug 2014 23:15

It's mugs in this household unless we have guests. Still have coffee mugs for guests but cups and saucers for tea. I do have very nice bone china mugs.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Aug 2014 23:14

I only use mugs, so you are in good company :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 23:11

I do have posh cups and saucers, but packed them away as I thought they would never be used again.

A mug is much easier for me to carry than a cup and saucer.

Up until about November last year it was cups and saucers here, but then I was told I was old fashioned using them, so I capitulated.

Standards are falling by the day I'm afraid :-D

Do I care?..................No :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Aug 2014 23:07

I noticed that too - they are very nice mugs :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Aug 2014 23:05

Yes, I noticed we were given mugs, not the best cups and saucers :-(

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 23:03

I didn't have Royal Doulton to offer my guests,

they had to make do with common mugs :-D

but they were my best mugs

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Aug 2014 23:00

I do have a bowl and plate with hand painted periwinkles which I did use, not Royal Doulton though

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 22:59

It's interesting that Mickey came home of his own accord. :-)

Do you think someone borrowed him?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Aug 2014 22:56

Glad all went well, Linda. Did you use the Royal Doulton with the handpainted periwinkles :-D

We think that Mickey was set free because he could possibly pull away from his tether. His chain isn't broken.

Yes, we take turns in hosting it. we have been going to do it for a couple of years, but things got in the way such as Esme being born last year. so I am pleased that we have been able to do it

I wonder where he had been Sue.How did he get away?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 22:51

Good Morning Sue :-)

So Mickey went walkabout :-D I do hope that you don't get a visit from an irate neighbour, who did have a nice garden :-D

Maybe Mickey is in love and has found a nanny ;-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Aug 2014 22:49

Hello everyone :-D

Soooo chilly here :-( but sunny :-)

We had an adventure with Mickey the goat. He went missing yesterday and we and the neighbours searched everywhere to no avail. He came home by himself through the night :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Aug 2014 22:47

Glad it all went well Linda, and now everything is restored to order. Do you take this event in turn each year - so next year it will be someone else's turn?

Good evening Tec

The soiree did go very well. just enough food left to keep OH going during the week.

It warmed up this afternoon, so we had enough benches and seats for everyone to be out in the garden. Some people came in later on, bit the others stayed out. \Everything is tidied away and the second dish washer load has just finished

Hello Sylvia, :-)

We had those temperatures here last week. One day we hit the record for Wales at 30C.
Much too hot for me.
I would much rather be cold, because then you can get warm, but there is no escape from the heat.
Strange how much of my life was spent in the hottest places in the world, but I never was affected by it.

Old Age :-0..................................?

I'm melting here!

it is about 27C in the shade in the back garden, and around 31-32C in the house
