The weather here is still good. Warm and sunny, but not too hot. However, there is a weather warning for Sunday, when the tail end of hurricane Bertha reaches us from across the Atlantic. The weathermen are not sure as yet where it will hit, but wherever it arrives we can expect torrential rain and high winds with flash flooding. At the moment they think it most likely to hit Southern England, but not sure :-0

That's the good thing about remodelling or decorating. You get the chance for a good clean out.
The weather has been quite nice here but everything is so dry. The lawns are yellow :-(. Today is quite overcast and I hope we have a good downpour of rain.

Hello Sue,
Yes I really have enjoyed having my daughter here. We get on so well, and laugh at the same things. She was very helpful in helping me empty cupboards, and "persuaded" me that I really didn't need a lot of things :-D
I found some things I'd never seen before, that the Duchess must have bought but never used - high time there was a clearout :-D

Hello Tec - sounds like a wonderful visit with your daughter. I am so glad you found the Duchess in good spirits. The new medication must be having the desired effect.
When we had a new kitchen installed a few years ago we got rid of loads of stuff. Some hadn't seen the light of day for a long time. I had old wedding presents that I kept for sentimental reasons but never used. Out they went. I think they would be called 'retro' now :-D

Hello Everyone, :-)
I have had three wonderful days with my daughter. She went home this evening. It was so nice to have her all to myself. :-)
On Tuesday she picked me up from the hospital in Wrexham after my review with Archie. On the way home we stopped for lunch at a nice restaurant, then spent an hour gazing at activities on Bala lake. Wednesday she took me for a long overdue haircut. I haven't had a haircut since March, and was considering asking the Kiwi sheep shearers to do it. I have to rely on someone taking me into town to get it cut. Anyway, I feel human again, and it's good to feel the breeze around my ears again.
We also managed to get some cupboards in the kitchen sorted out ready for my new kitchen. So much stuff to go to the charity shops, and some my daughter took that she may find useful. Much of it I am not likely to use now.
Yesterday we went to visit the Duchess. It was a good visit, and she wasn't at all distressed, very calm. She is on new medication, including anti-depressants, and I think they must be working. I was not amused that the Duchess introduced me to a nurse as her father. He would be 104 now, and although I probably don't look as well as I once did, I'm sure I don't look that bad. :-D
Linda I hope you catchup on some sleep tonight. I has been pleasantly warm today, with a gentle breeze.

Thanks to the wonders of modern technology I am posting from a train hurtling through the countryside.
It was very hot again today, but I am sure "up north". Will be cooler. I don't have to go babysitting next week as they are on holiday, but I do get to go to my sons new house to strip wallpaper. At least it will be his new house first thing tomorrow. It was supposed to happen today, but one of the solicitors forgot to do something. It is a good job that they were not actually moving in today

Out of synch posts because mine didn't load before I left it.
It is now lunchtime here and Esme is just going to sleep now which is bad news because she is due her lunchtime baby food in forty minutes. That means that will be late, but I also have to give her an afternoon milk feed as well trying to fit it all in is a nightmare.
The industrial blender is on the way so my daughter will be able to start making her own very high calorie food and we will be able to drop the daytime milk. That will be much better for Esme as she will have more time for playing instead of being hooked up to a milk pump. It will make life much easier for the nursery as well when she starts there.

I don't know Sylvia, you will be sipping alcohol through a straw next, then you will be dancing on the cafe tables :-D
Eve woke up before my alarm went off this morning, so she came downstairs with me and is currently having a picnic in front of the TV while eating her pink porridge. We normally sit at the dining table together for breakfast and have a nice chat which is a better way to start the day with a four year old.

with my top lip frozen, and freezing extending up to the cheek bone on the right side, including my nose .................
I drank my latte through a straw, and sipped the foam off a spoon
:-D :-D :-D
it was actually 3 fillings in 2 teeth .............. 1 very large one and 2 much smaller :-(-
None of them were new fillings though, so that was good news :-)

The truck is huge Linda.. we talked about doing two loads to where we will rent unload all we need on first trip and then second trip would be storage.. But I reckon looking at it we could do it in one trip and the rest go on the trailer and vehicles afterwards.
I have never had problems with wisdom teeth.. Maia has had an awful time with hers she has had two operations.. Anya and Evan both go to the orthodontist as well which is very expensive. I got a good deal of my daughter's orthodontic treatment paid for by the welfare scheme we had when I worked for the Post Office.. The same scheme that I get cheap holiday homes with now being a life member.
I feel very relieved that your clothes are clean Linda.. and hope Esme is feeling better.

goodness ............. excitement in the wilds of NZ :-)
Linda ............ glad to hear the stains came out in the wash ...... especially your new skirt.
Sue ........... happy 8th birthday to the twins, for yesterday
It is cloudy this morning, so quite a few degrees cooler. The sun is due to return this afternoon ......... and high temperatures expected at the weekend once again.
I have a dentist's appointment in about 3 hours ..................... I have to have 2 fillings in the back of one of my front teeth.
The dentist said that this is the last time he will be able to fill ................... next time, I'll have to have a crown :-(
The problem dates back to having to have a root canal done on that tooth back in 1971, a hole being left for the abscess to drain, and then me having to fly back to the UK for 2 weeks because my Dad had died ............. with the unplugged hole.
Somehow, the fillings put in since then have never seemed to last. I think these 2 will be the 4th or maybe even 5th, since that time
To add to it, he usually has to use quite a bit of anaesthetic, even though the nerve system is supposed to be dead!
I may not be able to drink my latte this afternoon :-0
Horror of horrors! :-D

Goodness Persie things are exciting in your neck of the woods. I expect that when you come to fill the van you will think that you should have got a bigger one.
My clothes are out of the wash and have not stained, so Esme is forgiven.
Happy birthday to the twins Sue, eight is really old :-D

Happy birthday to the twins for yesterday.
Poor little Esme.. I can't very well say it will all come out in the wash to that one.
OH arrived home with truck, what a performance, truck did not look that big when you see it parked in a field but it only just got through the double gates and down the drive. He couldn't turn because of where I parked one of the cars in the road.. did it deliberately, so no other car could do that.. (have got a few clues) but I could not move forward because someone else decided to back right up to the front of me. OH thought it was our other car but I had that further up the road.
Anyways this car was in the road waiting to get past.. I had to get him to back up a bit, then I directed the other car into our driveway along the berm and path and out the next driveway. They looked astounded .. this is all happening at 10.30pm then got him to inch slowly into the drive.. poor old rimu tree took a bit of a bashing and he couldn't see because he was driving through the upper branches. Finally got him unloaded.. but whilst doing so I noticed a car across the road with their lights on.. thought funny.. so had a look in and thought this vehicle is stolen.
Went and got car from up the road drove around and by this time OH has come out seen vehicle, was going to ask neighbours but their lights were out it was after 11pm by then.. He opened the door to turn the car lights off.. and I said don't do that it will be a stolen vehicle.
So we have just had a very nice policewoman take our details and the vehicle is off to forensics.. and it has been noted where he touched the car.
We try to lead a quiet life. The last stolen vehicle reported by us was across next door neighbours driveway.
I have also reported shoplifters on a few occasions.

Oh dear Amanda, I am so sorry about the chickens. Kids no doubt who did it for a laugh. Just like the ones who broke all the glass in our greenhouse, leaving us with a large bill. I wasn't attached to the glass, so I can imagine how sad you are feeling.
My poor daughter had a dreadful night with Esme, I think she only got a couple of hours sleep. Esme is in my bad books as well because having given her breakfast, she threw the whole lot up right down my front? My top and nice new skirt were plastered in cheese spinach and potato bake. Think mushy peas and you will get the idea. I even had to change my bra :-( all the clothes are in the washing machine now, so I hope the stains come out
