They went to Barcelona which was far too hot (not my daughters idea), but they had a nice apartment which was air conditioned, so they had a good time

I hope they have had a good holiday Linda :-) not much of a break for you then , if you had to lurch straight into helping your son , still , a change is as good as a rest :-D

I have geraniums in pots as well Tec , I suppose I'll move them into the greenhouse in due course but I have managed to get those plants though the winter ( if it's a mild one ) .
I'm sure next year you will be on top of your new garden from the outset :-D

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Aug 2014 22:35

Your garden is still very nice Tec

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2014 22:32

Forecast is for 3C here tonight.

I have lots of geraniums in pots, but they are pretty hardy so long as there isn't a frost.
My garden is like a jungle because I wasn't here in the Spring, everything went berserk and grew out of all proportion :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Aug 2014 22:32

I will find out tomorrow Amanda. They were away on holiday last week with the other grandparents so I haven't seen them. That is why I could go and help my son in his new house instead

I was hoping for a second lot of blooms of a lot of my perennials :-( the seasons really are in a muddle .

How is Esme getting along Linda ? is she over her cold ?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2014 22:28

Rams are usually not very nice. There is a field full of them near me and they smell, but then so do ewes. The smell is disgusting when they are shearing in the sheds :-S

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Aug 2014 22:27

The forecast just said it is going to be chilly by night this week, so all the perennials will start to fall over

You can say that again Tec , this particular one is in full spin at the moment . He will , no doubt , out wit himself before much longer !

My garden at home is looking like a wild thing at the moment , I've not been spending the time I ought to have , keeping it under control and it has taken full advantage . The borders are buldging ......lol

Well my sister bred sheep to eat,so of course we ate them when we visited. I was glad when she gave up though as the ram was horrible

They're not all in the asylum Amanda,

they are among us :-0

Amanda2003 Report 17 Aug 2014 22:18

In a nut shell Tec :-( and Linda !! how could you :-0 lol

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2014 22:16

I can understand you not wanting to name your new hens Amanda, because once you do that they become personalities.

Although Linda once ate a sheep that she knew :-0

Amanda2003 Report 17 Aug 2014 22:13

We have now Linda , after the first incident we padlocked the back but had left the doors of the run just bolted . He ( the bloke ) , had to crouch and walk up the run to get his arm in the little hole the hens use to access the coup , he grabbed whoever he could , killed her outside our shed ( after bolting the run shut ) and dumped her body a few plots up :-0 :-| :-(

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Aug 2014 22:10

I didn't realise that that there had been a second incident

Can't you put a padlock on the door?

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 17 Aug 2014 22:07

Hello Linda , I expect you OH took the tops of his spuds in case the Blight was around , it stops it getting into the tubers that way .

After the second incident ( last Monday ) when one chicken ( Blanch ) was removed and killed :-( the others do seem to have settled down , we have been left with just one original ( Bluebell ) , Marilyn ( the leghorn ) and the four new ones , I haven't named them and remain detached ( I feed them and keep they clean etc but dare not bond in case it happens again ) . Two of the new ones are laying , the other two are only 18 weeks .

Hello Amanda, I think the summer is just about over sadly

I have hardly been to the allotment this year, I just leave it to OH. He hasn't taken the potatoes up yet, but I think he said something about having cut the tops off. Have the remaining chickens settled down again?

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2014 22:00

Hello Amanda,

We may yet get an Indian Summer, we often do in September, though I suspect you may be right about the seasons having been a month ahead all year.
I watch the swallows - they will tell me what to expect.

Drawers are too handy for stuffing things in you don't know what to do with on the spur of the moment.

You should arm your hens with a shotgun :-D

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 17 Aug 2014 21:55

Hello and good evening :-)

I thought it was high time that I popped in to catch up on everyones lives .

Tec , sorting out draws on a blustery day is always a good pastime . I have lots of draws , stuffed full of stuff :-0 It doesn't matter how often I clear them out , they always seem to fill up again :-|

Linda , I hope you are getting a bit of rest . You are always so busy .

The weather has turned to Autumnal (sp ) very suddenly . I wonder if we will get an early winter ? Everything has been a month ahead , all through the year , so I suppose it would follow for winter to arrive early .

We have been spending more time than usual on the allotments , all the pototoes are up and in the sacks .
There is a feeling of deep suspicion running through the site , a lot of us believe we know who the culprit was that harmed our chickens but as of yet , we have no solid proof :-| :-|

If I ever get my driving licence back I would like to go to Ireland, provided I could find suitable accommodation.

It's easy from here, via Holyhead
