Thank you, I hope it works soon. My daughter was too ill to go back to work yesterday, but she has gone today, still not very well, so I will sprinkle some on her as well

Thank you Mersey, I think I will use some down here as Esme has another cold, to say she is snotty is an under statement, it is pretty amazing just how big the bubbles she blows out of her nose are :-(

Happy birthday to your OH Sylvia, I hope you enjoy your meal

Hi Sue, and everyone

Tec ................ I like your pans for the garden. :-)

and how nice to see your daughter and granddaughter xx

The hot weather is back here, after several cooler days.

The clouds rolled in this afternoon .................. so it is hot AND muggy :-(

It is OH's birthday today ................ so I get to take him out for dinner. We're going to go to our local bistro-style restaurant. He likes it there.

We ahd roast lamb for dinner last night, probably from NZ. We bought it on Saturdya, and the butcher cut the rather large leg into 3 smaller pieces for us. So we have 2 in the freezer for future use.

Problem was that it was rather strong smelling ................ much stronger than we are used to it.

It tasted very good ...................... but I did spend much of the night wondering whether it had actually been good! The smell had me wondering if it was "going off".

However, we both seem to be OK :-)

take care everyone

s
xx

It's good to know what you're talking about with your garden - I can now see it :-D

I must be off to get ready to go out in this horrid weather - raining again :-(

Goodnight Tec - sleep well <3

I think with some careful thought the garden could be easy to maintain, and look much better, simpler. I haven't been happy with it for a few years, so a change would have happened anyway.

They say that less - is more.

My neighbour has men working on hers now, big changes going on there. Her husband had only just started on it , but he got ill and died before he could do anything.

I like your garden but I can see that it's impossible for you to maintain. I could see much potential to make your garden almost maintenance free. The wisteria does need to be pruned hard. The reward will be even more beautiful blooms.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Aug 2014 23:13

No - I like the wisteria, especially in flower in the Spring.
It will be severely pruned back this year. I wasn't able to do it in February as I wasn't here to prune anything.

Also the bottom of the garden will be tidied up, and a new pump put in my funny little fountain.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Aug 2014 23:10

Sounds like you have some great ideas. Pots are easy to look after. Does that mean the wisteria will go?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Aug 2014 23:02

Yes I hoping to buy some nice pots.

I visited a garden of a friends widow recently. She is not in a position to maintain the garden, but what she had achieved was beautiful, and full of imagination.

That was mainly gravel, and decorate pots, some arranged at different levels to accommodate trailing plants.

Gave me lots of ideas

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 18 Aug 2014 22:58

There is some work to be done but it will be so much easier for you. Will the majority of you garden be pots?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Aug 2014 22:49

Plans for the garden.......................yes

Well, the huge shrubs on the right will be greatly reduced in size, and one removed.

The left hand border will be cleared of everything except the roses, and hydrangeas at the bottom.

Then a weed repellent membrane laid, and probably gravel laid.

That will widen up the garden considerably, and allow me access to pots, and for someone to trim the hedges

Luckily the garden is already largely paved

Yes back to meetings and I have started preparing a training session for new volunteers. Back to reality :-(

So.....what plans do you have for the garden?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 18 Aug 2014 22:39

Good Morning Sue,

Much cooler here now, especially at night.
We have a very cold wind coming from the North.

So - back to meetings and all that

:-)

SueMaid Report 18 Aug 2014 22:15

Hello :-D

Up early today although it is miserable and cold. The rain has stopped for now.

I have a meeting to go to this morning. Back to real life :-(

The young should be enjoying life, but what a lovely surprise for you. Maybe you should invest in a bigger scooter, one with the plastic bubble on it to keep you dry. I suppose you would have trouble getting it in the hall though

We are almost at London, so I shall soon have to brave the tube and overland train, it takes quite a long time to get across London

I don't think that you are an old grump. You are entitled to your own space.

I've had a good day.
When I got up there was a lead grey sky, and very windy. I wanted to go to the village shop, and post a letter.
Thinking it was going to be a wet day I set off for the shop on my formula one sports car. It was perishing cold in the wind, and I was glad to get home.

Surprise - surprise, when I got home my daughter's car was outside, and she and my grand daughter were inside with the kettle on :-)
The clouds blew away, and it has turned out to be a lovely day.
We had lunch and went at to look at the sea from a vantage point I can get to on my scooter. Warm and sunny then, still a stiff wind though.

It was lovely to see them, so unexpected. I don't get to see much of my grand daughter these days. She is here there and everywhere, enjoying her life.
