I like the smell of beetroot cooking - reminds me of my grand mother :-D

I forgot that OH had picked more beetroot yesterday,so I have just cooked and bottled more of it. I left half of it and my brother is going to come and get that tomorrow

It's been a nice sunny day again. Still rather cool for August. The forecast for the rest of the week is awful, heavy rain tomorrow, followed by more rain all week. Possibly a little respite on Wednesday.

Tomorrow then will be a typical Bank Holiday - wet and windy.

The area is extremely busy with visitors. The traffic through the village was horrendous this morning. I zoomed off to the shop on my scooter and had great difficulty crossing the road.

Sorted and bagged up some more clothes this afternoon, then did more wallpaper stripping.
Tomorrow is the village duck race on the river, which should be fast flowing if it rains all night.
Forgot to go to the art show today, and it may be too wet tomorrow.

Sylvia I am sorry to see that BC has had such a problem with the forest fires. So destructive, and I feel sorry for the wildlife.
The regular firefighters will be very stretched when the students go away.
Maybe your warm spell will be followed by some decent rainfall.

I haven't needed to water all my pots for a week now, as the rain has been enough.

It's another hot sunny day here .......................... it got upto 26C yesterday (Saturday), and might get hotter this afternoon.


At least the nights are cooler :-)


Wish we could have some rain ................. the last rain was about 10 days ago, and then about 3 weeks before that.


The forest fire situation is dire ................... this is the worst one since 2006. We even have about 75 firefighters from OZ here at the moment, as well as from other provinces in Canada.

There will a loss of 40% of the BC forest fire fighters this week ............... they're university students who have to go back to uni. All unis start on September 2, the day after Labour Day.


Western US is also having major fire problems.

Hello Berona. It is now late afternoon here, I am turning my thoughts to preparing dinner, roast pork today.

It has been fairly sunny here today, not as nice as it should be for August, but better than last week.It is bank holiday tomorrow,so most people are off work, the weather looks dire.

Doesn't seem to be anyone here. Oh well. It has been another nice day (for winter) with no sign of the forecast rain again. We did have some yesterday for a little while and I believe it was heavier in the city - but although forecast for the coming week, it hasn't been enough to water the plants for us, so hasn't done much good.

Hope all is well with everyone. Hope Drew had a lovely birthday.
