SylviaInCanada Report 4 Sep 2014 21:38

Actually ......................... I wasn't really really bad ........................

I just knew all the places to hide to avoid having to go outside at lunchtime ...........

. and one of the major "jobs" for the prefects and Senior Prefects was to go round the school and herd everyone in the lower 4 forms outside :-)

Tut Sylvia, I had always thought of you as a fine upstanding citizen, now I am disillusioned. Unless you were talking about the vices found in woodwork class of course :-D

Hi Sue, and everyone

Bye Carolee ................ I understand completely. This site has become much less than it used to be ............ except for some of the long running threads, like this one, and the Welsh one

Hope all goes well for you.

Linda ........... good to hear that Esme had a good day <3

Tec .................. when I was in grammar school, we had the prefect system. Prefects, 6 Senior Prefects, 2 Vice-Captains and 2 Captains of School

it was notable that the most badly behaved often went straight to the Senior Prefect level :-)

I went straight to Senior Prefect level in my second year in the 6th form ...............

but my Dad was most amused when I went home at the start of my final year and told him I was the Girls' Vice Captain :-D :-D

;-) ;-) ;-)

I am on the train on the way back nor,th. Grand Central give you free wifi, whereas the other major company East Coast Mainline make you pay for it

I ha a nice day with Esme, she playing nicely in between being fed. She chunters away to herself, goodness knows what she thinks she is saying.

It was Eve's last day at preschool today, she starts big school on Monday. She had the home visit from her new teacher at 9.15 this morning, so she went to nursery after that.

Your OH may have had a point :-D they nominated you to keep you under control, and on their side.
This lady could be a valuable asset in time - or a pain in the butt in less time :-D
It will be interesting.

Well Ih ave to go to bed now,,

Enjoy your day Sue, hope the sun appears

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

SueMaid Report 3 Sep 2014 23:54

She does have my number :-0 :-D I quietly did my job for awhile before I started to become more vocal at the open meetings. OH said that I was nominated to be on the committee to contain me :-D

Tecwyn Report 3 Sep 2014 23:47

Well then, the point needs to be made that you are all volunteers, with family and/or work commitments, not to say a life of your own. Also that the office is not manned at all times.

Be careful about giving that lady your phone number, you may not get any peace.

Some people are used to leading from the front - I had a tendency to be like that, but such people have to learn to be new comers

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Sep 2014 23:41

All organisations should be open to good suggestions and be prepared to make changes to better their work but I don't think she realises that we are all volunteers. Apparently she complained that she has rung the office a couple of times and no-one has answered. She wasn't happy to be told that we don't have anyone sitting in the office manning the phones all day.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Sep 2014 23:37

Well, if she has had a lot of experience then she may have some good ideas, but not criticisms.
If she is experienced in such work then she would know that the best way to upset people is to criticise the way things have been done.

She could be a trouble maker, or in time she could be a very valuable member of the team.

As you say, wait and see.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Sep 2014 23:31

She is used to being in the forefront of a number of organisations and is very forthright. I can imagine she has done a great deal of good work in her life. Apparently she said in her interview that she just wants to do a little volunteer work to keep her busy as she has just moved here from Canberra. I don't think she would be able to sit quietly. We'll see :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Sep 2014 23:27

She is the one to watch, because she will want to make changes, or do things her way.
You don't normally volunteer with any organisation to criticise the way things are done, especially not at first.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 3 Sep 2014 23:23

We do but we also have a woman who seems prone to criticise everything and who makes me wonder why she is wanting to volunteer with us.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 3 Sep 2014 23:16

I hope you have some good people with potential to be good volunteers.
