Who is Stewart?

Tecwyn Report 17 Sep 2014 17:35

Hello, :-)

Peace at last :-D

My sister and her friend left an hour ago - the house is so quiet again.
The kitchen fitter is just doing the finishing touches, and should be done in about an hour.
It has been a hectic three days, what with my visitors, who could talk for England :-D and kitchen fitters, plumbers, and electricians marching in and out. At one time there were six men working in my kitchen. They must have been falling over each other.
The kitchen looks wonderful, very modern, brighter, somehow much bigger. I am delighted with it, and it will be so much easier and safer to work in because everything is at a lower level, with a separate hob, and the oven at shoulder height. The sink is much better. No longer have to struggle to wash up, or fill the kettle etc.

Yesterday I escaped for the day with my visitors to the large garden centre that I visited a few weeks ago with my neighbour. We had a good day there, including lunch in the restaurant.

My sisters friend, also a Sue, lives in the Canary Islands, Lanserote. She kindly invited me over for a holiday to their villa overlooking the ocean, but that is a bit optimistic at the moment for a variety of reasons.

Now all I have to do is find places for things in the kitchen for everything. Good excuse to get rid of the clutter.

I reckon he is this early morning mail delivery bloke that she greets in her dressing gown and slippers.

Looks like Eve is settling in nicely and I'm sure Esme will get used to the new routine too. You are certainly going to need your holiday in a couple of weeks.

It is sunny here but cold and windy. I have the house to myself so I will wash the floors. Then I need to do some grocery shopping - oh joy :-(

Yes, I took Esme to nursery again this morning, she was a bit better, so I left her for a while. Eve had a nice morning at school, but was cross she couldn't stay for lunch. She stayed yesterday and liked it. She gets to stay tomorrow again. They are just breaking them in gradually. Next week she will be full time and staying every day

It seems that Tec is missing, he is probably having a lovely time gallivanting around the countryside with his sister and her friend

Is your kitchen finished Tec!

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 15 Sep 2014 16:58

Poor starving Tec, I hope the kitchen fitters are well on the way with fitting your new kitchen.

I hope your sister and her friend arrived safely. I am on the train, just going through York at the moment

Unless you discover a huge gold mine under your house, I don't think the Welsh would have enough income to go it alone Tec

We had a power cut at lunchtime which lasted for ninety minutes, OH was most dischuffed at missing Bargain Hunt. I am getting ready to leave for what should be my last trip. If Esme won't settle, I do have one spare week, but hopefully it won't be needed. I feel sad because I know she is going to cry when she is left alone at nursery and I don't want her to do that Plus we have built up a nice relationship where she is now very happy with me and I don't want her to forget that.

Still they are both bound to be ill,so I will have to hop on a train to look after them, plus Eve will need cover over her school holidays, we are already booked in for the October half term

Hello, :-)

Well it is all happening here. There are three kitchen fitters marching about. All I can hear is electric drills and electric saws.
They were very quick taking the old kitchen out, but as it me who fitted it I suppose it more or less fell off the wall :-D

I've rigged up the kettle in the dining room/bedroom, so I can at least have a drink, but forgot to sort out something to eat, anyway I found a packet of crisps, so that was lunch.

My visitors will be arriving about 4pm. It is a long way from Yorkshire to me.
I've booked a table at the village pub for dinner tonight.

I haven't read the Mark Steel item yet, but will do so now - thank you Persie.

It will be very sad if Scotland votes to go it alone. Hard to think of Scotland as a foreign country.
I suppose if Scotland does go independent then the Welsh Nationalists will jump on the bandwagon and campaign for Wales to be independent too.
That is too silly, and unthinkable to me. Hopefully not in my lifetime.

I saw it as a light hearted tongue in cheek approach, it was published in our paper as well without the accompanying photos.

We have been having more and more coverage on the subject and yes they had it on tonight about the serious ramifications of the yes vote. It is not something that you can put your hand up in a few years time and say uh oh we made a mistake there.

....but it is actually being drowned out by our own elections which are to take place this Saturday and we are really wallowing in debates, polls and all sorts of other contentions.

Will be glad when this week is over and the results are in and we can get back to some sort of normality. (whatever that is)

In the meantime we will be off to look at a property tomorrow with view to renting it. The landscape gardener was here today (he only lives a few up and across the road) mapping out what he is going to do with our garden and lawn etc.

The electrician popped in (he lives three doors up from the gardener) to fix a light fitting that had to be pulled away from the ceiling for painting.. and the painter was here earlier because he had painted a small cupboard door of the upstairs part of our bedroom the wrong shade and it was not until himself put it back on its hinges that we noticed. The painters live up the road on our side. So we keep things very neighbourly.

Ah my internet is working again, I don't know what was happening last night, but I actually had to watch TV and talk to OH instead.

An article from the Independent, hmm, I was hoping for an insightful article, but it wasn't. :-(

Sadly it is only over the last week that all of the really serious ramifications of a yes vote have been talked about in the quality press, but too late to sink in. I do try to steer clear of contentious issues on this thread, so I won't say any more
