British and American jets are already bombing selected targets, but it is inevitable that the innocent people will be killed in the process.
It is referred to as "collateral damage"
Thousands of civilians died when Bagdad was attacked in an effort to get Saddam Hussein.
I felt ashamed to be British that night.

Well, time for bed,
Enjoy your Saturday Sue, hope the sun shines. We are in for a wild night :-(

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

They are definately taunting us but the loss of these men is very hard to take. They hold no value for human lives :-( Australia is now prepared for air strikes. Will that mean innocent people will be killed?

Take care,

Tecwyn Report 3 Oct 2014 23:30

Good Morning Sue, :-)

I agree, the first priority in a care home should be the residents, but seemingly not.
It is very worrying. While they are businesses then it is all about money and profit.
Minimum staff, on minimum wages.
There was an item on tv this week about residents of some homes being malnourished due to poor diet.
I have seen some of the food dished up at the home. It looked less than appetising to say the least :-(.

It is dreadfully sad that another hostage has been executed. It is thought that they are trying to draw allied soldiers back to fight on the ground.
While I agree that the barbarians have to be conquered, enough of our soldiers have died, or been terribly injured in that region in recent years.
I sincerely hope we don't send them back.
It now up to the Arab nations to sort it out, but they stay very quiet :-|

Hello everyone although I think Linda and Sylvia have gone. Goodnight Linda and enjoy the rest of your day Sylvia <3 <3

Tec - I'm glad you managed to speak to the manager. A meeting with the owners is no excuse for not looking after a resident. That is what they are there for.

The dreadful news about the British aid worker being executed is very sad but it also makes me angry. The look of fear on that poor man's face :-(

Tecwyn Report 3 Oct 2014 22:30

I hope you get lots of help at the airports Linda. Should you have to negotiate steps, remember it is more difficult to come down steps with a dodgy leg, than it is to climb up them.

Goodnight - I hope you sleep well tonight.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Oct 2014 22:24

You get a person to push you as well Tec, you go straight to the front of all the queues no get to board first. When we arrived here, it was connected via an aerial walk way, so hopefully it will be when we go, that means no steps. at Leeds the plane was on the Tarmac so we had to walk a long way to it and climb up the steps.I can do the steps slowly,so will wait until everyone has got off and take my time. We will have to wait for the luggage anyway

This is going to cut out very soon,so I will say goodnight now. I hope you don't need to take to your ark in the storm

So - no flamenco dancing Linda, clicking those heels won't help :-D

I hope that you can get a self propelled wheelchair, they are much more convenient, even for a short time through an airport.

I too have seen the news of the barbaric murder of the man that just went out in an aid convoy. My thoughts are with his wife and children tonight.

Enjoy your coffee Sylvia.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Oct 2014 21:45

Hello Sylvia, I saw that news too, it is very sad

The Jet 2 holiday reps who came to see me said they would make sure there was a wheelchair at both ends, it didn't seem to be a problem, I will confirm it with them after I have seen the doctor tomorrow.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 3 Oct 2014 21:40

Linda ..............

good to know your knee is less swollen

Certainly ask for a wheelchair at the airport ............. and for one to be provided on your arrival in the UK

I get to go and see the nice Spanish doctor again tomorrow. My knee is nowhere near as swollen as it was, but is still bigger than the other one. Oh is dutifully pushing me around and bringing my food in the restaurant. It was a bbq tonight and we were sitting very close to it, so I walked over to choose what I wanted. I had to wait while they cooked one thing, but I had to go and sit down. I will definitely ask for.a Wheelchair at the airport as I couldn't stand in the queues.

Hi Tec, and Linda

we've had another sunny morning here, but it is now clouding over, and the weekend is expected to be damp, at least.

Linda ............. How is your knee feeling when the injection is wearing off?

Tec ............ glad you got hold of the Manager. She should never be too busy to be concerned with her patients .......... even if she is dealing with the owners!

I've got to go soon and write the weekly shopping list, and balance the cheque book :-(

LindainHerriotCountry Report 3 Oct 2014 21:32

I don't know why they gave to sing in English, it is a Spanish island after all. The other night there were two men playing guitars and singing, they sounded good, probably because we couldn't understand the words. The ones who try to sing in English usually sound like some dreadful off key pub singer
