LindainHerriotCountry Report 8 Oct 2014 09:12

Good morning one and all.

Once I managed to get my feet warm, I slept much better last night. That is because my mattress is nice and soft and I was able to turn onto my right side because the mattress supported my knee. While we were away the bed was really hard. I used a pillow to support my knee on my left side which is my preferred sleeping position, but I can't stay like that all night and every time I tried to turn over in my sleep, the pain woke me up. I only recall waking up once last night.

This morning I am going to unpack my case, then this afternoon I have an appointment with the nurse for my pneumonia jab, then later on one with the doctor. OH also has an appointment this afternoon to get the results of his annual blood tests, so he is going to have to go three times as he will have to drive me twice.

I will use your stair technique Tec we always put the alarm on downstairs overnight (not when Sue was here in case her OH set it off). I was trying to get upstairs before I set it off, so that didn't help. If I need to go anywhere OH will take me in the car, I will just stay at home and see how I get on.

I was going to say, you can't believe some people abandoning their pets like that Sue, but of course they do

You can wait weeks for a scan here Sue, but Linda should get in very quickly

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 7 Oct 2014 23:22

Sometimes the pharmacies will rent out wheelchairs too. In Australia they scan you at the drop of a hat.

Hello Linda - thankfully you are home now and can get plenty of rest. Thankfully you don't need to go down to London.

Maisie has settled in very well Tec. She is a loved member of the family already and loves being with us.

There were some people renting a house nearby and not only did the leave the house filthy but also left two beautiful dogs locked in the garage. Luckily the people next door heard the dogs and contacted the RSPCA.

Glad that you're safely home Linda, shame about the wheelchair hiccup though.

Re climbing the stairs. I expect you have worked out your own way by now, but if you go up sideways, putting your good leg up first, then lifting the painful one up next.
Depends which side the handrail is to hold onto to.

The doctor should make the scan a priority.
Can you borrow a wheelchair anywhere. Sometimes the Red Cross will loan them for a small donation.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 7 Oct 2014 23:16

That is sad Tec.

Maybe the new dog next door won't realise you are a man because of your wheelchair

Tecwyn Report 7 Oct 2014 23:12

Well Maisie has landed with a loving family now, so will forget her background and have a good life.

There is a programme on each week here with Paul O,Grady who males friends with the dogs at Battersea Dogs Home.
It is sometimes heartbreaking to watch. Some of the dogs have had such a terrible experience.
My lovely old Pyranean Mountain dog - Sacha - was found locked in a coal shed. The people had moved and left him there.
A more loving gentle dog you couldn't meet.

Hello all ,I am just looking in for a minute.

The first part of the journey home was fine, a wheel chair was waiting for me when we got off the bus. There was an empty row in front of us on the plane, so we moved into it and had three seats, that meant I could put my leg sideways, so I was more comfortable.

When we got to Leeds, no one had told the wheelchair people there about me,so I had to wait twenty minutes after everyone else got off before they came for me.

It was thirty degrees when we left and only seven here. The house feels so cold yet it has only been empty for a week

My knee wasn't keen on climbing the stairs, I will have to wor k out a better way to do that. I have a doctors appointment tomorrow afternoon, but I expect him to say just rest it. The NH S don't do scabs willy nilly you know

Sue sounds like a marvel. The dog is still a pup so hopefully is trainable.

The RSPCA told us that Maisie hasn't had pups but our vet thinks she has. The thought that she may have had pups at such a young age and that they were taken off her saddens me. Also the thought of what may have happened to the pups :-(. Some people are so cruel and irresponsible :-|

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 7 Oct 2014 22:56

Milo comes in for his biscuit every day, so perhaps with patience and tact the new dog will come to trust me in time, and maybe come with him.
She must learn to accept men before she can be rehomed.
I must say Sue is very good at sorting out problems

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 7 Oct 2014 22:51

Oh - I hate to think what that means. Some horrid man has mistreated her by the sounds of it. A family member took us to meet their friend who has a lovely dog. He was very timid and actually shook with fear when he met us. My heart went out to him as I could see the potential in him with love and patience.

Good Morning Sue,

I'm quite well thank you. A bit tired.
Had another go at the hedge today. Think I'm winning at last :-),

Sue my neighbour went to collect her latest rescue collie today.
I haven't met her yet. She is 11 months old, and very timid. Doesn't like men apparently.
