I should think her responsible hat is a grey felt affair as opposed to her frivolous hat which is all feathers and flowers

Good luck to your OH tomorrow Sylvia - I should like to see your responsible hat :-D

Tecwyn Report 15 Oct 2014 22:17

Linda I have thermostat valves fitted to all my rads, so they turn off once the required temperature is reached.
I only heat the rooms that I use now.
Upstairs is not currently used, but the heat rises up the staircases through the house, so it doesn't get too cold up there.

Thank you Sylvia, I expect the anti-biotics will take a few days to kick in, just hope the Duchess doesn't get any worse and end up in hospital.
Whenever she is unwell her blood sugar levels are all over the place, causing problems with diabetes.

we'll be going out soon for coffee ....... OH is on a clear liquid diet today, but he can have black coffee .......... which he is loading up with sugar :-)

Tomorrow, I put on my "responsible hat", and pick him up from the day surgery :-)

Hi Tec, and Linda

Tec ......... I'm so sorry to hear the Duchess is not well.

Hopefully the antibiotics will have taken effect by Friday xxx

we have a rainy day here ................. and just like you guys, the trees are still heavily leaved :-(

Calgary had a massive snow storm in early-September that did a tremendous amount of damage because the trees were in full leaf.

Some of the parks are still closed, as it is too dangerous for the public to be in there before the city workers have managed to clear away all the broken limbs and fallen trees.

I have the curtains closed and the heating on as well, it is all cosy. Having said that, I have just felt the radiator and it is cold, the house is so well insulated now, that the heating switches itself off once it warms up

The Duchess was seen by a doctor yesterday, who prescribed anti-biotics.
It was exactly this time last year that she had a bad chest infection, when we were both admitted to hospital in the same ambulance - buy one, get one free.

I will visit again on Friday to see how she is.

Oh dear, I am sorry that the Duchess is ill, I hope she has been seen by a doctor. I hope you don't get a cold as well. Maybe you should ring up to keep asking how she is so they know you are keeping a check on it

I don't know about crazy weather world wide, but it was very Autumnal here today. I got absolutely soaked :-|

I attended the quarterly review at the nursing home that went on for two hours.
The Duchess was present to start with, although she had no idea what was going on.
She has a very bad chest infection, and when it became apparent that she was not well enough to sit through the meeting, she returned, at my request to her room to lay on her bed.
The manager of the home had to relay from a book the day by day events of the past three months, to the official from the Area Health Authority. Who then wrote it all out again by hand into her own book, and forms.
Then there was a discussion involving those present about any alterations to her care plan that may now be necessary given her deteriorating physical and mental state.
I stayed with the Duchess after the meeting for some time, but she obviously just wanted to rest.

Coming out of the home I wanted to visit two shops, and just got drowned getting to and from the car park. You can't hurry Archie.

This evening, it having been such a miserable day, I decided to light the fire for the first time this year.
So, now sitting here with the curtains closed, and a lovely fire blazing in the hearth.

A somewhat trying day all in all.

I went to the cinema this afternoon, but we took the car instead of walking. We saw The Hundred foot Walk, which was money for old rope for Helen Mirren

It is going crazy Berona. We had a lovely summer which makes a nice change, but the trees are only just beginning to turn to their autumnal colours. That is bad because if we get high winds and they are still in full leaf, that is when they get damaged

Where I live is approx. halfway between the city of Sydney and the Blue Mountains - and to-day was the anniversary of when a whole township in the mountains was completely destroyed by fire.
Although our temps have been hitting 30-33 in the past week - we had a lovely day yesterday, until the evening - then it rained heavily for a few hours. However, in the city, the storm was termed "once in a century' , causing quite a lot of devastation - whilst the day dawned showing the Blue Mountains covered in SNOW!! They usually get a small amount of snow in mid-winter, but never at this time of the year (it's mid-Spring!), and whilst we had temps of around 30 a few days ago, to-day's was 17 - but tomorrow should be 23. How's that for being mercurial?
I think it incredible that the anniversary of destruction by fire should be marked by snow. What is happening to the world's weather?

It sounds like you are all having bad weather. It is grey and overcast outside but it looks warm enough. They are forecasting an Indian summer starting at the weekend with temperatures of up to 20 in London. I am sure it wont be that warm here though

Hi all

the sun played hide and seek with dark thunderous-looking clouds all day ................... but no rain. Thank goodness :-)

Hope all goes well in the morning Tec xxx

Do you think (???know) that the new little dog was ill-treated by a man??

Sue ............... it sounds as if Maisie was well looked after, in all respects, while you were away ;-)

Linda ............ take care with that knee. It was the 3rd time UNlucky for me when I fell :-(

I never did have mine scanned ................ but the physio worked on it every time I went.

Berona ................... you will be glad to have some rain, if not large amounts.

We are heading for the wet season here ................... it's not called Temperate RAIN Forest for nothing :-)

Hello all. Would have been with you earlier to-day, but last night we had another storm, with thunder rolling around from 8pm until 3am. Not a lot of rain here (spasmodic) but a lot wilder further into Sydney city and towards the beaches. Hence, this morning, I had no internet until 10.30. All seems OK now, but more rain is forecast.
