There is a lot going on in that painting Persie. I see something different every time I look at it.
It's not me in the wheelchair, and I think my Swinging days are now a distant memory - though I still have my moments :-D

"The Oldest Swinger In Town"

I also like traditional paintings, especially those with a lot going on, village or street scenes. I like Lowry pictures for that reason.

It is a good feeling when everything is done and dusted at the old home, and you can move on.
Nice that the old rose is fighting back to live another day - maybe the chop did it good.
Hope you find a comfortable bed, and are allowed to try them all out - but don't fall asleep in the showroom :-D

Hope you have a fun evening with your friends Sylvia, and enjoy your dinner.

Today is cloudy and cold. I felt cold although the heating is on, so I've lit the fire, which is much appreciated by Milo, who thinks I lit it for his benefit.

Looks like Linda found something to do after all. Maybe she is organising the kitchen :-D

I also had a look at your painting Tec. I like these mainly because you can put your own interpretation on them. I see a person in a wheelchair (don't think the person is Swinging though). There are other things going on as well in it.

That climbing rose that I thought was removed has grown from a sawn down below the bark garden stump. It is looking very healthy as well. We did our last trip up to the house today, mowing lawns, vacuuming etc for the last time and then loaded up the trailer with mower, barrow and the horse gates. All the keys are in one of the kitchen drawers so there is no going back. The real estate agent has a key to let the new owners in. We left them the manual for the oven as well. The money goes in the bank on Monday.

I will be looking for a new bed on Tuesday.

Tec ....................

I like that painting, although I'm not that fond of modern art

Hi everyone

we're going out to dinner this evening to our favourite restaurant ..................

one of our close friends was awarded a big honour in the New Year's Honour List, and we've been trying to get her out to dinner ever since, but tonight was the first time we've all managed to be free

.............. she was actually admitted to the honour about 2 weeks ago

We had hoped that another couple would also be there, but they couldn't fit it in, still it will be a fun evening :-)

I'll tell you what we had to eat later :-D

Goodnight Tec - sweet dreams <3

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 23:19

With the Stargazers I find that they start to deteriorate on the third year, so I replace them after that.
They have become increasingly hard to find here though, and some nurseries call them something else which is confusing.

IF in pots, I find replacing the compost on the second year help if you can be bothered.

I'm off to bed now, have to be up early to let Milo out.
Don't want to find him with his legs crossed :-D

Enjoy your day Sue,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2014 23:14

I love the Stargazers but the tubers I have are old so not doing well this year. I'm not keen on the orange lilies - I may give the tubers to my daughter as she loves them.

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 23:08

Hmm - the tomatoes could "bolt" in those conditions.

I have got some orange lily's - not my favourites.
The best ones are the Asiatic Stargazer that are very attractive with a very exotic perfume.

My tree lily's are a disappointing colour, a dark maroon with a yellow edge - not very nice really, though they are huge.

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2014 23:03

The humidity is very draining as you would know from your travels. The veggie garden looks like a jungle but OH is hoping that the tomatoes aren't spoiled.

My lilies are starting to bloom. I wasnt sure what colour the would be but now I know - a bright orange :-0

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 22:52

Very good growing weather I would think.

Should imagine things are flying up on the veggie patch, unless of course things have been washed away.

Humidity is horrible, and very tiring to cope with - you must be careful

The market is on two Fridays a month up until March but it's the first one that is the best because of the excitement of Santa arriving. Just bad luck.

Yes it is strange having these constant thunderstorms - I've never known the weather to be like this at this time of year. The problem is that the next day it's very humid and uncomfortable.

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 22:38

What a shame that event was cancelled Sue - it sounds very interesting. A loss of business to the traders.
Do you think they might re-schedule it?

Strange that you are having so many thunder storms and heavy rain.

I suppose the only consolation is that it may help to prevent wild fires this summer.

It's freezing cold here.

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2014 22:33

I should think that is the hardest part - not having the Duchess with you. I can only imagine the heartache that brings you. I find that the way you have dealt with the changes in your life to be truly inspirational <3

We continue to have late afternoon/evening thunderstorms that are disrupting to say the least. We were to go to a 'Twilight Food Market' near our harbour yesterday evening but it was cancelled due to the weather. Just as well because the skies opened around the time we would have gone. It's a good evening with lots of food stalls - some very exotic. There is plenty of seating, music and A visit from Santa for the children.

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 22:22

You are so right Sue.
I was in a bad place this time last year, and since then my whole life turned upside down in so many ways.

It was very hard at first, but now I have come to terms with the way things are.
We just have to accept things we can't do anything about, and get on with it as best we can.

I don't think I will ever get over being parted from the Duchess in this way, but apart from that I have no complaints - just glad to be here :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2014 22:17

I can imagine, Tec. Haven't you come a long way from this time last year?

I do a lot of reflecting at this time of year and part of that was thinking about how your life has changed. Some good changes and some sad ones.

Hello Sue,

Glad you like that picture.
I like some modern art - that one jumped out at me. I wanted something bright and colourful.
Very pleased with my bedroom now - it is nice to have a bedroom again after all this time
:-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 5 Dec 2014 21:55

Hello :-)

I googled Kadinsky's 'Swinging'. It certainly is bright!! While not being a fan of modern art I do like this. You are making your bedroom a cosy haven :-)

Tecwyn Report 5 Dec 2014 20:44

Thank you for the information about earwigs Persie. I didn't know they did those things.
We don't get that many here, though maybe I don't grow the things that attract them.

Linda I'm sure that you found something to do. Are there any shops nearby? I know that you like shops :-D

Sylvia it has been a bright sunny day here, though bitterly cold. There is a dusting of snow on the hills, and there has been a heavy frost just a few miles inland.

Milo is here for the weekend. He turned up this morning with his bed, pyjamas, and toothbrush :-D
He is no trouble, just watches and follows me about, though I think he gets fed up having to move for me to pass in the wheelchair.
The lady from the village shop comes twice a day to take him for his walk.

Another picture arrived today to adorn the walls of my bedroom. I am really pleased with it. Abstract framed print from a painting done by a Russian artist 1866-1944,
Wassily Kandinsky called "Swinging" Very colourful.
I may have to have another :-D

just rest that leg, Linda :-)

the rain arrived last night, and it is very grey and wet today ............. but a little warmer.

We had 7 days of cold, clear, blue skies and sunny but cold weather ............. lovely to look at, from inside a warm place :-)

Earwigs still look evil.

Fence building has been put on hold as OH and my son are building the new kitchen. I can't do anything to help, so am surplus to requirements. There isn't really anything I can do, so it looks like an easy day to me
