Maisie isn't happy. We have two men walking on our roof putting a leaf guard on our gutters. Maisie can hear them but not see them. She also can't go outside :-D

Now you just need to bring the wheel chair in form the car and you can use that until you get another one.

I can think of lots of things for the man from the village to do, I am sure he won't mind :-D

Stay safe when you visit the Duchess this afternoon

It is very cold here too Linda, but the main problem is the wind. Apparently it is to get much worse tonight and tomorrow.

As I discovered recently that the wind blows me over when trying to walk with Archie, so I plan to visit the Duchess this afternoon before the really big wind arrives tonight and tomorrow.
Last time I visited in a strong wind I had to be dragged in by to carers who saw me in trouble in the carpark - the wind was screaming in straight off the sea.

You will be delighted to know that a man from the village who does odd jobs came to re-site the stairlift boxes on the landing this morning.
I have yet to try a wheelchair up there, but it should work.

Oh - I now have a laptop tray like the one you described with a cushion, light, and drink cup thingy, though I doubt I will use that facility.

What with that, and the tv installed in my bedroom, I can theoretically stay in bed till Spring :-D.

The man who did the electrical work also hang my new picture in the bedroom :-)
a very useful chap to know, but please don't frighten him out of the village like you did that boy who did jobs for me :-D

Brr, the air is absolutely icy outside, I went to the supermarket this morning, but I was glad to get back in. I have the heating on, sadly we are on cinema duty tonight so will have to go out in the cold, I think I will take the car instead of walking

Sorry that I disappeared, but Milo's mother returned from Scotland - hence there was great excitement :-)
Tail wagging and leaping up to lick her face, from Milo that is, not me.
Then she stopped for coffee and to tell me all about her trip.

That is very funny Tec.. Pot holes are not something you want when you are having contractions either.

We had an old Vauxhall Wyvern when our youngest was born.. I woke him and told him plenty of time have your breakfast take your time etc.. We had no phone so we stopped at a phone box and I rang the hospital then we drove over the bridge to the North Shore Maternity Hospital, my GP was also an obstetrician.

They said you will have plenty of time, gave me the go to the loo stuff and ran me a bath but left it running while I was in the loo. Bath was absolutely full of hot water and it was very difficult letting the water drain slowly and getting some cold in at the same time. When I arrived back in the delivery suite they said to me you took your time. ha ha.

Plenty of time yet, read a book half an hour later the rush was on. I was too tired to push and one of the nurses said I have never seen someone so relaxed going to deliver a baby. My GP turned me on my side and said oh for goodness sake let me do it, and pushed on my stomach and that was it.. one little girl born.

Where is your husband, he was outside sanding the Wyvern down for a paint job.. they did not let the blokes in the theatre in those days unless you had it written in triplicate and made a big fuss.

Off to Pukekohe now .. to spend some money..

Good afternoon Sylvia,

I think everyone else has gone - Linda is travelling home from London this evening.

Reading Persie's story reminded me of the day my daughter was born.
The Duchess woke me at 5am and said it was time to go.

We had an old banger of a car with hardly any suspension.

A 30 minute journey along country lanes, full of pot holes. We bounced our way to the hospital, much to OHs distress.

When we got to the hospital that was a tiny cottage hospital, I pulled up outside the maternity ward, rushed into a ward full of ladies nursing new borns, and announced "My wife is having a baby"

Everyone laughed, and the Sister said "Well wouldn't it be better if she was in here rather than you" :-D

Daughter arrived an hour later :-D

Many years ago, OH's sister lived less than a block from the hospital, woke up and realised their 3rd child was on the way ...... so she and her husband walked down the street.

The baby was born less than half-an-hour after she woke up :-)

I think they had just had time to get her into the delivery room!

My daughter just rang me, she did have a funny time of it.. stopping to be sick in the garden on the way. In fact at one time whilst she was getting ready SIL said to her come on... as in hurry up... August was complaining about the light being on so early.. and they had to stop a couple of times on the way as she was sick... and then when they got there he said you get out and I'll park the car... uh no.. oh okay then I will park first and nearly drove into a bollard. The race was really on to get in there.

When I woke up my OH had already heard the baby cry on the phone and he said to me we have a little wah..

So looks like we head down to Wellywood any time soon.
