Well, time for bed Tec, I shall look forward to hearing about the new fridge Sue, don't spend too much :-D

That's what happens here too, Linda. My neighbour scours the charity shops for bits and pieces and she told me that all the good stuff are now in cabinets with higher prices. Now and then I can pick up something at the markets for a good price. I bought a bread fork for 50 cents and when I got it home I found silver hallmarks on it. It cleaned up very well and I'm sure the handle is bone or ivory.

Well you deserve a new fridge, I don't know why but you do

I find it almost impossible to pass an antique shop - they are a magnet to me.

Think I would have liked to have been an antique dealer.

I do get annoyed when the dealers buy up beautiful antiques here at action to ship over to America by the container load.

As there is no housework that now needs doing I think we will go and have a look at refrigerators. Although our present one is only a few years old I am not happy with it. Sometimes you have to cut your losses and replace something that isn't working as well as you would like.

Gone are the days of finding really expensive things in charity shops for no money, they have experts who sift it all

You are allowed to look in shop windows, Tec :-)

When we were in Shrewsbury I went into a charity shop because an item in the window caught my eye. It was a lovely china trinket box. I bought it because it's pretty for the princely sum of 2 pounds. I looked on Ebay and found that the china is quite a good brand although not one of the big ones. A cup, saucer and plate went for around 25 pounds so I think I got a bargain.
