Not just a spangly dress but red dancing shoes too :-D

I'm sorry you are still feeling ill, Linda. Rest as much as you can - you need to be well enough to travel to London.

The weather has been glorious here today - sunshine all day.

We are watching the Glastonbury music festival. Someone calling Ben Hall is singing and although I've never heard of him I am enjoying his music. The weather looks very nice.

Morning Linda,

The couch is the best place for you when you are unwell :-) I hope you get better soon <3

Tec, I was so sorry to read about Taffy - give him a pat and an extra treat from me :-)

It was a cool but nice day today - I got lots of hugs and kisses from some of the residents, its so nice to be missed and to be welcomed back so warmly :-)
I didn't work too hard today Tec :-) even though I have so much work to catch up on, it can wait.

Carole :-) ~~~~ to Persie, Berona, Sue, Amanda and Diane and anyone else looking in :-)

You can only quickstep Berona if you still have your spangly dress to change into :-)

It is a lovely day here, although a bit windy. I still feel dreadful, but I have made the effort to get dressed, so will go downstairs, but only as far as the sofa. Wimbledon will be on later,so I will probably swan about watching that

Nice to catch up with everyone - even if it did take me a long time to read all the posts. Sue - I think you got my share of the rain as well as your own. It has rained here, occasionally, but only the odd light shower or two each day. Had to water the pots on Thursday as they were not soaked enough and they need it again now that I know of only one shower since then.

Your selection of music was a little young for me, although I recognised all the names. However - I DO remember Victor Sylvester. The mere mention of his name makes me want to do the quick step to his Exhibition Swing!

Sue

that was my parents attitude .............. Dad was so happy to see his little sister happy again.

Unfortunately, others of her siblings were not the same.

Goodnight Amanda - sweet dreams <3

I'll have some of that heat, Sylvia - it is quite chilly here at the moment but the sun is shining. Glorious after 10 days of constant rain.

When my daughter's first marriage broke up she felt that no one would want to marry her and take on three children especially as one has special needs. She was wrong. She met a lovely man who was thrilled at the thought of a ready made family. Of course he had to make many adjustments after being a bachelor with no children and then being a husband with three but he has done very well and he adores my daughter and grandchildren. Of course everyone was more than happy to see my daughter's happiness.

Goodnight Amanda - sleep easy after your busy day :-)

Sue I wouldn't dream of being in the presence of a lady without a shirt on - the very idea :-)

I am a Pom after all, and sit on the beach in a shirt, collar and tie, with knotted hanky on my head :-D

Well must go to bed now, I'm tired.
Enjoy your day Sue - hope the weathers better.
Hello Berona, Persie, Sylvia, Carole don't work too hard
Goodnight,
Tec :-)

Hi Sue, and everyone

I'm melting here ...................... it's around 28C in the back garden, and going to get hotter for the next couple of days

Tec ..........

........ the age wasn't as old as your grandmother's, but I had an aunt who married twice.

She met her second husband at some club or other

They married when she was about 46, and about 9 years after her first husband died

I was in my middle teens, and can well remember the shock that all her sisters and brothers went into ........ except for my Mum and Dad.

First .......................she married again! That wasn't supposed to happen. Once a widow, stay a widow.

Second ............ he was younger than she was. By all of 2 years! :-D

Third ............... Alfred drove a MOTOR BIKE, and aunt rode in the SIDECAR

............. and that is exactly how they talked about it :-D :-D :-D

They had a great married life, always out and about on the motorbike and sidecar, until the got too old for gallivanting around.

They were in sheltered housing when OH and I made our first trip back to the UK in 1973, we visited them ................. and he was a wonderful guy, but quite incapacitated by that point!

He died in 1988, and she died in 1994, aged about 84.

She had no children from either marriage .................... and was sometimes described disparagingly by a couple of her relatives as the weak one of twins, except her twin died at about 18 months old.

Take care, everyone

anyone want some heat from here???? Please!!!!!!

I love to hear of older people remarrying - they are so lucky to get a second chance at love and companionship.

My late FIL always dressed very well. Always wore a hat that he tipped if he met a lady. I called in to see him one very hot day and he was wearing shorts and a vest. He went off to put a shirt on. When I told him he didn't need to he told me that he wasn't suitably dressed for a visit from a lady. I loved his courtesy.

The " Sunday best " thought makes sense Tec . I know my footwear is always grubby , it doesn't matter what I have on my feet they invariable end up wandering into the garden ....lol
At home I am normally bare footed in the garden but I don't risk that on the allotment as there is always broken glass appearing on the surface :-0

Well , it is getting late and my exciting day is catching up with me , so I shall say good night / good day .

Hello to Berona , Persie , Huia and Carole if they happen to look in later :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Jun 2013 22:56

I have nothing against older people marrying, or re-marrying. I thought my grandmother was great for doing it, but some of her children were alarmed, and there were 13 of them - one of my aunts was outraged, and caused a big fuss :-D.

Linda - I don't change my clothes four times a day - had enough of that when I was working.
Hope you feel a lot better tomorrow, Goodnight - sleep well.

Amanda I think the shiny boots were all part of his retirement - and I think that whenever I visited them, he was in his "Sunday Best" :-D

Sue hopefully your garden will drain well then, an advantage of living on a hill :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 30 Jun 2013 22:46

Goodnight Linda - sleep well <3

Yes Tec - we are on the side of a hill so the drainage is good but with so much rain the gardens haven't had chance to dry out.

My late FIL remarried but sadly he married a dreadful woman whose family encouraged it because they didn't want her on their hands.

Amanda2003 Report 30 Jun 2013 22:38

Good night Linda , I do hope you are feeling better tomorrow.

Tec , it must have been a bit of a shock for your family at the time but I'm glad to know you where all happy about it eventually . :-D

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Jun 2013 22:35

Why shouldn't older people remarry Tec to have some companionship in later life. My friends mother did that, my friend was very worried about what people would think, I thought it was great

I need to sleep now, so I will say goodnight.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Jun 2013 22:31

Good Morning Sue,

Looks like your weather may pick up at last - have you got good drainage there?

Yes the old chap was well liked in the family, after they recovered from the shock of my grandmother re-marrying at 75 :-D

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 30 Jun 2013 22:29

Good morning Sue , I hope you get some brightness today , it doesn't do to have too many grey days in a row :-(
There where not as many stalls as I'd been expecting , only about ten I should think , I still managed to buy plants off three of them ..... lol

Tec , it does make me curious that a country man would have such shiney boots but I suppose well polished ones would have been more waterproof ? :-S

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 30 Jun 2013 22:28

Well, if you will be a fashionista Tec and change you clothes four times a day what do you expect.

Good morning Sue, weeds do love rain, OH had lots on the allotment when we got home

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Jun 2013 22:24

He had a sad hard working life Linda, but had the most amazing sense of humour and laughed at everything. He was rather stooped when I knew him, but he must have been very tall as a young man.
Always in a heavy grey serge suit with waistcoat, and huge laced up black boots you could see to shave in :-D.

More rain for us tomorrow :-( never mind, I've cleared masses of washing that seemed to have appeared from nowhere suddenly when my back was turned :-D

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 30 Jun 2013 22:22

Hello everyone - I have been busy reading all your posts. Sometimes I enjoy that more than joining in :-)

Amanda - sounds like you had a wonderful day. Wish I could have joined you for a nice walk around the gardens and a look at the stalls.

Linda - I hope you feel much better after a good night's sleep. Getty better juice sounds good. We have magic medicine although the children seem to be growing out of that now.

Tec - your grandmother's husband sounds a delight. Of course his comment wouldn't have gone down well but it is funny :-)

Diane - hope you are getting out into the sunshine.

We have blue skies :-D A little sunshine yesterday but much more promised today. We went into the garden yesterday and the ground was so 'squelchy'. The veggie garden is looking good but the unfortunately the weeds are also strong and healthy :-(
