I can't really remember Amanada, I know it was a couple of weeks before they started to dry up
We are not leaving her until about 4pm tomorrow Tec, but then we are stopping off in Oxford for a couple of hours to see our son, so it will be very late before we get home

The boy whose party i was is Eves close friend from nursery, apparently they play together. She is really into pretty dresses, the ballet tutu I brought for her has been worn since we got here. She holds her dress skirt by the side and does twirls, she is constantly preening which is so funny to see. When we got to the party, the first thing she did was to show Leo her pretty dress, but he didn't seem interested :-D

Amanda, my daughter scolded herself badly when she was seven. There was a saucepan on the stove with something in. For some reason she wanted to see what was in it, and it tipped forward scolding her chest. Fortunately I was home, and rushed her to the local A&E, going through a red light. I was convinced she would be scarred for life, but fortunately the scar faded as she grew. She was forever banging her head, and frequently had an egg on her forehead :-(
These things happen, as I said, but it's no good for our nerves.
I bought six large eggs the other day, and five had double yolks. They come from a local chicken farm :-)

Hello Linda,
You are very brave :-D I don't know if I could cope at a party for three year olds in this heat - but it sounds like good fun. I hope Eve wasn't put off boys for life :-D. I remember my grand daughter regarded boys with disdain for years. She has apparently changed her mind now :-)
Hope you have a steady journey home tomorrow, it's going to be very hot again.

Hello Tec , I'm so pleased to know you are feeling refreshed after a good sleep :-) I think that because Tommy can't walk yet and relies on holding onto furniture he must have not had the sense to move his hand :-( but as you say , it shouldn't have got THAT hot .
I wonder if my OH has recorded Country file ? He does sometimes and I should have enjoyed seeing the horses at work .
Some of our beans are raceing up their sticks and the Duke of Albany peas are filling :-D

Hello Linda , it sounds as if you could do with putting your feet up and a nice cool flannel on your forehead after your day . I hope the rowdy boys didn't upset Eve to much .
Did it take awfully long for your daughters hand to heal , can you recall ? My daughter was telling me that the nurse has said she will need to keep Tommys hand out of the sunlight for up to two years ! :-S sounds a bit strange to me :-S

Good Evening Amanda,
No wonder you nerves are shot at :-( all those little people with their mishaps all at once. Accidents do happen of course, especially to toddlers, but coming one after the other must be horrendous. I hope everyone makes a good recovery, especially little Tommy with his burnt hand, that must be so sore for him. We have a glass door on the cooker. It does get warm, but not hot enough to burn you, so there must be something wrong with that cooker door.
I did sleep better last night. Actually didn't wake up till 9am this morning, and feel better for it. The peas and beans are doing very well thank you. One of the beans are struggling, but I can't remember the name right now, will have to look. Looking forward to good results :-)
I thought of you tonight while watching Country File. They showed shire horses logging in woodland, and I remember telling you they do that near me.
Hope you don't suffer from being in the sun today - glorious isn't it? :-D

Oh dear Amanda, I do hope nothing else happens.
I remember when we changed ovens once when my daughter was about four. The grill was in the bottom oven, but the door had to be left open when the grill was in use. My daughter touched the red hot grill element and branded her hand, that was terrible as well.
Today was incredibly hot here and I got to go to a birthday party for three hours with lots of three year olds. The little boys were really rough and over excited, poor Eve wasn't keen on it. I was shattered by the end of it

Hello folks :-)
I hope eveyone in the UK has been enjoying the hot weather . It has been very warm indeed here in Norfolk , I over did it a bit yesterday as I was out in it most of the day , crawling about on the allotment , havesting broad beans and strawberries..... yum yum yum :-D
Linda , I hope you enjoyed your splashings in the pool with Eve . Tec , I hope you got a good nights sleep last night , the heat can sap ones strength and make sleeping disturbed :-( I hope your feeling better now your meds have been adjusted ! Are your pea / beans getting along okay ?
We seem to be going though a phase of the little ones having accidents , the worst one being poor little Tommy :-( He has sevearly burnt his hand , it happened a few days ago . Apparently he placed his palm on the glass front of daughter oven , it isn't supposed to get THAT hot but it is an old oven and maybe the seals are not working properly ? His whole palm is a massive blister and there are others on his thumb and fingers :-( She has been taking him to the hospital to get it dressed every other day and he will have it bandaged for at least eight weeks . I just feel like crying every time I see him . He doesn't seem that bothered and has adapted to crawling on that elbow and the other hand ..... bless his little heart . Yesterday the shout went up here that Isla had pulled the heavy stone bird bath onto her foot .... thankfully she has got away with a bruise and a graze , it could easily have broken her foot :-0 My son told me Alice nearly drowned in the bath last week , he only left the room for a moment or two and returned to find her face down !! And Emily nearly strangled herself with a dressing gown belt !!! My nerves are shot to pieces with worrying about them all and fearing who is going to be next ! I'm just hoping that the run of accidents is over :-S

Things do seem more difficult as we get older. I even struggle to lift a bag of compost these days :-0 pathetic.
I was up at 5am this morning, very tired but just couldn't get to sleep, so got up as I couldn't bear it any longer. Yet all day yesterday I could have slept on a clothesline :-( Hopefully I will get to sleep tonight, or I'll ask the Duchess to hit me on the head with a hammer :-D
I will send you a photo when the fireplace is in. I am hopeless with photo's on the computer, but my grand daughter sorts things out for me. My SIL will also do it if she is not around.
Well I'm off to bed - perchance to dream :-D :-D
Enjoy your day Sue,
Goodnight, Tec :-)

I think as we get older we are more inclined to pay someone else to do certain jobs. OH still does most of the jobs around the house and garden. Although he doesn't like doing anything electrical he changed all the light switches the other day as they were looking old and discoloured. As he has arthritis in his hands he found it a little difficult but he managed.
I'd love to see a photo when the fireplace is finished. After you have cleaned up the mess of course :-D

Yes Sue - they will take out the old one. It's a 1950/60s tiled one that I can't bear the sight of. It would have been cheaper to take it out myself, and I would have once, but it's too heavy for me now. So I'd rather pay and let them do it.

I don't think they are the kinds of things OH would bring home :-0
It annoys me when people say they will phone and they don't but I guess they get caught up with other jobs. I hope you're not kept waiting long. Will the people who install the new fireplace take out the old one?

Bamboo tables etc, plants, nic nacs, :-D
I am waiting to hear when the man is coming to install the new fireplace. He did say he would phone my Friday, but heard nothing. I need a couple of days to prepare as I need to move things out of this room. Can't wait to see it in place :-)

Sadly young people are getting skin cancers :-(
We went to the markets yesterday. It was a bit fresh down by the lake and there wasn't much to see. We went for coffee later so it we had a nice morning out. However I told OH that if he wanted to go to our local market this morning he was welcome to go on his own :-D

Good Morning Sue,
It looks like a good game. I've only seen bits of it shown on the news. To watch the match here you need Sky TV we used to have that but cancelled it as I was fed up lining Rupert Murdock's pockets. I must admit to being surprised by the result, as I really didn't think that would happen, though of course I knew the Welsh lads would play their socks off :-D
Glad it looks like another good day for you, and I can understand the children in Aus would need maximum protection from the sun. Skin cancer is becoming a common problem here too apparently. Must be from foreign holidays, can't possibly be the British climate. More likely to go mildew. Though we have a heatwave now :-)

I missed Linda :-(
Hello Tec :-) Well done Lions. They did play the better game we thought. We aren't really into rugby but we watched most of the game.
Looks like another sunny day here. No paddling in pools though :-D Most of the children here wear the swimmers that protect them from UV rays. Very important in a country where sun cancer is so prevalent.
