It always takes a few days for the dust to settle after such a big job

Tecwyn Report 9 Jul 2013 22:13

It's nice that Eve will play nicely with you - little people have such busy minds they usually run off to do something else they've thought of :-)

You have been a busy bee today - so have I.

The paddling pool wouldn't be the same without Eve. We had a lovely hour or so yesterday morning, just sitting in her sand pit playing together. It is sunder the shade of a large bush so it was cool, I was amazed just how long she concentrated on playing quietly with me.

We stopped of to see my son on the way back and had a nice meal with them, but that meant we didn't get back until after eleven. I had to brave the supermarket this morning, then we had cinema tonight

If I disappear suddenly it is because my sister might be phoning me back

The fireplace isn't finished yet. They have been taking the old one out, and making good ready for the new one - having to wait for cement and plaster to dry. The hearth is in, and they are not coming tomorrow, but on Thursday the job should be finished and the new fireplace in position.

What a mess, everything is covered in a fine layer of dust and soot, even though everywhere was covered in dust sheets.

Good Evening Linda - Welcome back,

You should get a paddling pool :-D

Very hot here too today, but a gentle breeze got up around 5pm which was a relief.
Still warm now with windows and doors open.

Good luck with the raspberry jam making.

The Welsh weatherman made me laugh this evening. He was saying the fine weather will continue, then suddenly said "There may be rain in Dolgellau"
Someone must have upset him there :-D

Happy new fireplace Tec, I hope you are pleased with it, leave the decorating until it cools down a bit, or get the boy from the village to do it

I hope it sells quickly Sylvia

It has been stupidly hot here today, thankfully it is supposed to be a little cooler tomorrow. I hope so because while we were away all the Raspberries suddenly appeared. OH came back with loads this afternoon, but he said there were plenty more to pick. I will go and get those in the morning, then have a jam making session, just the thing for hot weather.

Hello all. Another nice looking day with blue sky and sunshine, but the expected top temp is only going to be 16 - with 'possible showers'. If the bureau keeps giving us the 'possible' forecast, they MUST get it right, some time!?!

Amanda. I felt so deeply for the little ones with their accidents. I had to have a sad smile on my face when I read that Tommy was crawling with the aid of one hand and one elbow. You can't keep a good man down, can you? (Makes you wonder what changes them when they become husbands and take to their beds with a common cold? lol).

Tec - take it easy with the renovating. Remember - a little at a time.

Sue - hope you are having a nice day.

Hi Sue, and everyone

well, our visitor left about lunch time today, so we are getting back to "normal"

He was quite easy, although I didn't really know him ....... he was married to OH's cousin (the one who died last year), but was rarely at home much when we stayed with them .............. he worked, was in Search and Rescue, went caving, climbing, hiking etc.

So this was the first time I've really talked to him a lot!

We had a great time. The weather was gorgeous, went away for a couple of days, etc etc.

Will try and catch up with you all.

take care

I don't enjoy renovation projects anymore Sue.

The kitchen here can stay as it is, but I do want to replace the worktops - that's a job I can manage myself.
The bathroom was a huge project, it was originally a bedroom, and much bigger than the average. Took 22 sq mtrs of tiles. That took me ages to do, but nothing else to do there.

I want to redecorate two of the bedrooms as well.

SueMaid Report 8 Jul 2013 23:25

I really don't enjoy renovation jobs around the house. The kitchen wasn't too bad as it was over in two days with just the painting to do. I had thrown so many old kitchen items that it was lovely to have so much cupboard space to play with. It didn't take long to fill the cupboards but it was so much easier to find things.

The bathroom renovation was a nightmare - well I thought so. It took a week and the dust was awful. At one stage we couldn't use the toilet - separate from the bathroom - but luckily we have good neighbours. We showered at my brother's house as he lives just over the hill from us. Such an inconvenience.

Hello Sue,
I am pleased they have made a start on the fireplace, rather than having to wait for weeks. It was just the shock of them turning up without prior warning, but never mind, I just want it over and done with.
Yes I have to decorate the whole room after the fire is in.

Amanda - Poor little Tommy - but it's good that his fingers are free at least, and not bound into a fist.
I hope you have a good night with Alice.

Hello Amanda :-) As distressing for you all as it is children are so resilient and bounce back quickly.

Coooooeeee back at you Sue :-D

It is reassureing to read the tale about your friend in Canada's little Grandson . I am so glad to know that his little hands healed up okay .
My daughter bought the boys round today , dropping off Addison on her way to the hospital to get Tommys hand re-dressed . The Dr says hopefully he won't need a skin graft ( a thought that hadn't crossed our minds :-S ) , in a couple of days they will cut off the dead skin as they drained the blisters last time , I suppose they will be able to see how the skin is underneath then ?
It was very sad to see him trying to play with his favorite plastic skittles , he likes to bang them together and was trying so hard to hold one under his armpit :-(
At least his fingers have not been bound into a fist this time , I guess it is a waiting game :-(

I have Alice here tonight so I won't be hanging about to chat .

<3

Edit to say a quick hello to you Tec and I hope your home is soon back in good order :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 8 Jul 2013 22:44

My goodness, Tec. I can imagine the panic - what a to-do :-0 Isn't it good though now it has been started. Once the new fireplace is finished it will look so nice and you won't have to look at the eye-sore anymore.

Once the new fireplace goes in will you have more work to do - painting etc.?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 8 Jul 2013 22:41
