Hello,

It was very hot here again - 27C, and horribly humid. Sapped all my energy, and made me ache. Tomorrow is forecast the same.

I sat outside for half an hour this evening till 9-30 and it was cooler. The sun sat on the sea like a huge bright orange ball.

It is wonderful of course to have such summer weather.

It was terrible trying to sleep last night as it was so hot and humid, but no aircon here Berona. Today it was cloudy and much cooler which was a nice respite, but we are back to all the high temperatures tomorrow

Berona Report 10 Jul 2013 11:36

Good evening all. Don't ask me to work out whether it's morning, afternoon, evening or night where you are. Yes, it has been a sunny day and warm for July, but not warm enough for me. Still no rain, but more forecasts for showers - again!
I have the aircon on for a little while in the morning, then switch it off as the sun gets stronger and streams in the windows. Then, it goes on again near sundown and I switch it off to go to bed - where I'm snug as a bug in a rug! Don't like getting up in the morning, though, so I'm going to pre-set the heat to come on about half an hour before I want to get up. That will make it easier to get out of bed. It's wonderful to be retired and not HAVE to get up - but if there are no arrangements made for the morning, it becomes extremely difficult to get up at all!!

Good to see you posting Diane and glad you are getting out. You'll feel much better for it, I'm sure.

I am glad that you managed to get out Diane, the wild flowers should be lovely at this time of year

It was a terrible night for getting to sleep, so hot, even OH was complaining. It is a lot fresher this morning, cloudy and windy, so I will go off to the allotment now to pick more raspberries.

I make my jam in batches in the microwave Sylvia,so it isn't a onerous task. Once I have all the berries, I weigh them out into containers of the correct amount and keep them in the fridge until I use them. Last year I open froze most of them as I had plenty of jam, but that has all gone, so I will mainly make jam of them this year.

I hope you survived the trip to Sydney Sue

Hi Sue, and everyone

it's hot here .............. but even hotter where my daughter lives

It was 37C on the patio in her back garden!

it's only about 28C here

Linda ..........

....... why not freeze the raspberries, and make the jam in October-ish, when it is cooler??

I freeze all berries that I intend to use for jam .........

....... wash them well, pick out bad ones, etc, weigh them, and put into big plastic containers, marking the weight on the label.

When it's time to make jam ............. just tip the frozen berries into the pan, and slowly heat them up. They "fall" much faster from frozen than when fresh .......... so the jam making session is much shorter.

as well as being more pleasant :-D

Sue .............. hope you had a good day in Sydney

Diane .............. just keep saying "I can do this. I can do this. I can do this"

You'll get there in the end.

take care everyone

Good night Linda and Tec hope you both sleep well tonight :-)

Sue hope you have a nice day with the grand-children in Sydney :-)

Amanda sorry to read about all the accidents that have happened with the grand-children :-( hope they are all improving especially little Tommy OUCH must have hurt.

Berona hope your still having the sunshine and the evening's are not to cold :-)

Well I went to see my counsellor again on Monday and talked about how thing's were, I told her my son, girlfriend and her 2 nieces were coming up for a visit and that we planned to go to the wildflower Centre, my concern was that I would try and make an excuse not to go but I battled with my fears and we all went. Once we got there I wasn't to bad but my son could see I was struggling and kept asking was I ok to which I replied yes I'm determined to fight this, I have to say though that when we did get back I was very relieved.
Today my flat has been full of rellys all day, first my sister and her OH came and just as they were getting ready to leave around 3-30pm my eldest grand-daughter arrived and than about 2hrs later another of my grand-daughters arrived ( her sister ) and they didn't leave until about 9pm. It was like buses arriving " none for ages " and then 3 come at once :-D :-D
So I'v had more visitors the last 2 days than I'v had in the past 2 months.

Hope all is well with those I haven't mentioned by name <3

Eve likes to go to the library, she chooses her books from the little boxes and sits on the mat to read them. We often take her to change the books while we are down there

Have a nice day with the children Sue

Good Morning Sue - Hope you have a lovely day in Sydney with the children.

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 9 Jul 2013 22:23

Just popping in quickly to say hello. We are taking the children to Sydney for the day so it's easier for us to pick them up and set off from their house.

Yesterday was a lovely day. I took the children to the library and signed them up. They were so excited to see that some of their favourite books were there and also loads they hadn't seen before. They all chose 3 books each and then when we came home sat on the front verandah in the sun and read their 'new' books.

Nice to see you back home safely, Linda. We are all such busy people. Who said retirement was a time to relax? :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 9 Jul 2013 22:22

There was no point in tackling the dust today while they were still here, and I was too busy anyway. I shall clean everything tomorrow with a damp cloth, and hope they don't make a lot of mess on Thursday, but the messy part of the job is all done really.

Taffy has been miffed because he wasn't allowed in to help :-D
