Yes another hot week - glad I'm not in London or the South. The highest temps for seven years apparently. It is lovely, but it's knocking the stuffing out of me :-(

It looks like it is going to be very hot here all week, but not as hot as London

I wouldn't want to get arrested Linda - or turn the neighbours off their food :-D

Good Evening - or Noswaith dda, as they say in these parts :-D

I have been so lazy today, and have done nothing. Couldn't even be bothered to cook dinner this evening, so we had sandwiches instead.
Was sitting in the garden at 5am this morning. It was lovely out there in the cool morning air, watching the birds feeding their babies, and singing loudly.

It's good that you can safely leave your windows and door open at night Diane. Being up on the second floor has its advantages in some ways.
We could safely leave our downstairs windows open at night here, although there are lots of visitors around at the moment. Normally the village is crime free, but strange things do happen at busy periods.
Sometimes cars get stolen, and are found abandoned in the Midlands.
I often discover I haven't locked the front door at night. :-(

Linda - Glad you enjoyed the barbeque - perfect weather for it. Some people have them on the beach here - they gather driftwood to cook on. I do wish they would take their empty beer cans and wine bottles home with them though.

Good luck with the cabin Sylvia, I hope it sells quickly.

It is very hot here as well Diane, I had the fan on while I went to sleep last night, but I woke up in the middle of the night because it was so humid. I put the fan on the timer and soon drifted off again.

The bbq was very nice, there were only three couples,so we shared the food. I did all the salads, someone else did the pudding and our hosts provided the meat. We took the car over because I couldn't carry the salads plus our drinks, then OH brought the car home and walked back so we could both drink.

I think I have had just a little bit too much alcohol :-D It was very humid walking home,so i was glad to get back

Hello everyone :-)

the weather is lovely and there is a nice breeze coming through my livingroom window onto me at the moment :-)
I have had all my window's open day and night for about a week now and my back door off my kitchen has been open day and night, as I am on second floor over a shop and the veranda has railings from the wall up to the top of veranda area then it is quite safe not to shut the door.

Linda would love to have been at yours last night listening to the music and watching the firework display, hope you enjoy the BBQ with your friends :-)

Tec the fireplace sounds lovely, hope the weather cool's down a bit for you to get the decorating done.

Sue are the grand children looking forward to returning back to school, loved the photo's on FB of you and them and see how much they have grown.

Berona I hope your thin blood is improving and you are not feeling so cold and tired :-)

Sylvia I hope you soon sell the cabin, what will you do with the money from the sale, will you buy something else to stay in for breaks.

Amanda hope Tommys hand is a lot better and the anti-biotics are doing there job.

~~~~~~ to Huia and Carole :-)
Hello Sylvia. Hope you sell your cabin soon and get what you want for it. Your weather sounds nice to me. We can't complain about getting 19c in the middle of winter. We now wonder if we will get a cold 'snap' or will we get yet another winter which is warmer than previous winters? Overnight temps can be cold - (anything between 1c and 7c - occasionally a little higher, but then drops suddenly).
Still getting forecasts for rain - and still no rain here. Sometimes, I see dampness outside in the morning and don't know whether we've had a shower or if it's just because of the night temps being so low. Certainly not getting the rain we should be getting for winter.
Hi Sue, and everyone
We've had 2 or 3 days of cooler weather ................... about 22or 23C, and the nights have also been cooler.
W even turned off the fan in the bedroom the last 2 nights. Lovely!!
The hot weather is coming back tomorrow or Monday ................ back up to around 30C
OH doesn't believe in watering the garden ................ neither the grass nor the veggies. But he's having to give the veggies a little bit at the moment!
OH weighed those potatoes that he found in the veggie patch, the ones he left behind last year ...................... we have 3½ lbs of white potatoes, and about 1 lb of blues :-D
The cabin is now being listed on what we call the Multiple Listing ............... that means every realtor in the country who subscribes to Multiple Listing can see it, and hopefully that will widen the potential market.
If anyone wants to see, ask and I'll pm you the link
Take care everyone
Goodnight Tec - hope you sleep well <3
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 13 Jul 2013 23:58
We mostly have neutral colours. Some of the walls here have anaglypta paper that you can emulsion over - very useful if the walls are not good.
I like wedgewood blue if used with a lot of white.
That back of this house faces North, so never gets the sun. We use warm colours there.
I might paper the walls in the lounge with lining paper and emulsion a pale lemon, or primrose.
Well it's bedtime - too hot to sleep, but I can try. The Duchess seems to sleep ok in the heat.
Enjoy your Sunday whatever you do today,
Did I say goodnight to Linda? Goodnight Linda :-D
Good Morning Berona and Persie,
Goodnight,
Tec :-)
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 13 Jul 2013 23:47
We aren't very adventurous either, Tec. We like neutral colours. Our bedroom faces west and can get very warm in summer. OH painted it a lovely cool blue so it looks nice and cool even on the hottest day. Our son chose a bright turquoise blue for his room and he and his dad painted it. We didn't like the look of the paint but it came up very nice. Not our choice but it's his room.
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 13 Jul 2013 23:42
I dislike the preparation too Sue - quite enjoy painting though. Ceilings are a problem these days as I can't work with my arms up for very long, we have very high ceilings here.
Your neighbours room sounds very trendy :-)
I am not very adventurous when it comes to decorating, although I have got over my magnolia phase :-D
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 13 Jul 2013 23:26
Goodnight Linda - sleep well <3
Tec - it's all the preparation that OH doesn't like but as he says you need to prepare well otherwise it's a waste of time doing the job. We haven't had wallpaper for years but I remember going into my daughter's room one morning to find she had pulled a large strip of paper off the wall :-0
The young couple next door have painted their living room walls a lovely shade of dark cream. They have made a feature wall of dark brown paper with a cream pattern which looks really smart. They told me how much it cost to do one wall and I nearly fainted. However it does look very nice.
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 13 Jul 2013 23:24
Most of the walls in this house are not good enough to paint. I wish they were.
Everyone is very friendly here too. I was watering the pots in the front garden this evening and about five local people stopped to chat to me.
Strangely, the tourists just stare, and look aghast if you speak to them. Many times I've said a cheerful hello, good morning, etc, but they don't answer and look away.
I find that very sad.
Maybe they think I'm odd, or strange, or mad, or bite :-D
Linda - Don't :-S
LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Jul 2013 23:18
That is the good thing about living "up north", everyone id very friendly. My daughter doesn't know any of her neighbours
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 13 Jul 2013 23:14
That's the best part - when something brings all the neighbours out and you get to chat. As long as it's something good that is.
Awhile back we had a black-out and some of our neighbours including a family who had just moved in up the road came outside to check if everyone's electricity was out. We all started chatting and we got to know the new neighbours who have become friends with the people next door to them who also have a young family. The two girls have become very good friends.
I like it when big long runs come off Tec, I hate it when the backing gets left behind though. mercifully as this is a modern house we only have painted walls
I hope Joel enjoyed his game of rugby and has got the hang of it now :-D
I was never any good at rugby, too light weight. Enjoyed football, and cricket in the summer.
Tomorrow I may strip some wallpaper - now that the fireplace is in I can start to decorate the lounge. It's too hot for me outside anyway, and there's something therapeutic about stripping wallpaper :-)
