You're on Tec - I have a basket just waiting for you. My mother finds it outrageous that I pay someone to do my ironing but I do because I can :-D

A bit overcast this morning but a little rain wouldn't hurt.

Tecwyn Report 29 Jul 2013 22:45

What's all this fuss about ironing?

I would take it up as a hobby if I had time :-D

Bring it on....................

Berona Report 29 Jul 2013 12:35

I only iron when I am taking up a hem, etc. I have made sure I buy non-iron clothing for many years now. I decided to do that when I had shirts to iron. Since being on my own, I rarely iron.

My mother used to iron everything ................ sheets, towels, underwear.

She would fold a sheet in the halves longways, then into halves again ........... then lay it over the ironing board. She then ironed other things on top of it ..... so it was like an extra ironing board cover. She gradually moved it over and down, until it was completely ironed. The she would do another one.

OH was a much better ironer than I am of men's shirts ............. he was really fast.

We had permapress sheets as soon as we got over here. Had long decided no point in ironing towels or underwear ....... and so we gradually abandoned ironing.

too many other things to do before spending time wielding an iron!

I can remember my grandmother ironing with a flat iron that she heated on a special area in the kitchen stove/fire ............ it also had an oven and a kettle "hob".

The fire was one of those big black leaded things!

My younger daughter couldn't be bothered ironing if she could help it.. only when something was creased badly otherwise she would put item in the clothes drier on hot for a short while and that would get the creases out.

My mother bashed her clothes into submission.. she ironed on a kitchen table with an old blanket and half sheet on top.. she did not like ironing boards. When you were downstairs you could hear the thumping through the ceiling.

I have a small utility room - not the laundry - it has the vacuum cleaner and a few other things and the ironing board is in ready position and iron plugged in ready to switch on at short notice.

Hello Jem.... I am Persie and I have been floating in and out of this thread for quite a long time before the thread had made 5000 posts.

They are a good bunch of friends to have..

Hi Sylvia-

When Granddaughter 1 first saw me ironing, she did not have a clue what I was doing as my daughter never irons!! She tells me that she has better things to do with her life!!!!!!:- :-P :-D - Doesn't say much for my life then!!!!:-S

When she worked in Butlins many years ago, I bought her an iron to take with her. She burned her arm trying to iron her uniform with it on!!!!:-D :-D

How are you Sylvia?

Thank you for the good wishes for OH ............... he's fine today. I couldn't even see any sign of him having been stung.

We had to go out this afternoon ................. we both needed our hair cutting, and Sunday is one of the days my lady works. On the way home, we stopped at a big hardware store, and picked up some Wasp and Hornet Killer

So, he will give the nest another shot of it this evening, when it is cooler, and any wasps still alive are sleepy.

I had to laugh when reading the instructions on the canister ............... remembering that most of these wasp nests have their entrances at the base ................

............... hold can at arm length, and spray into the nest. Do not stand directly under the nest

it did not add ................ or lots of angry wasps will be in your face :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

Hi Sue, and everyone

we still have no sign of rain coming here.

Diane .......... why iron your bedding???? It only gets immediately creased!

Mind you ................. I don't iron anything that I don't have to. The iron stays in its drawer for months at a time. :-D

Nice to see you on here, Jem. I hope you get a better night's sleep tonight.

OH is getting the BBQ going .............. we still use a plain simple charcoal one ................. so he can cook a marinaded pork steak for dinner. :-D

Take care everyone

I've left my ironing until tomorrow, almost unheard of for me, but have done this a few times recently. Out of routine with the School Hols etc.

Goodnight Diane <3

Jem my going out problem is probably associated with my health issues at the moment.
I hope you get some rain soon to get rid of the humidity :-)

Diane-

I have "Going Out" problems too. Looking back I think I always have. If I don't HAVE to go out, I wont. It's more nervousness of people rather than just being out! It could be slight depression also. There are periods of time that I have had to make myself go out, due to work commitments etc. Also I "blag" that I'm confident, and then I talk too much!

It is still very humid here in Llanelli. It has been threatening a storm all day. We've had some rain.

Good night Tec, hope you and the Duchess sleep well :-)

Bye Sue enjoy your day <3

Hello Jem, yes I did find him but not through this thread, I was helped by some peeps with suggestions of how to find him but in the end it was another family member ( who I found through GR ) that is related to him who informed me he was on Facebook.

Diane

Diane Report 28 Jul 2013 23:51

Tec I have been chatting with the eldest grand-daughter and they are all loving it out there :-)
Now that the air is not as humid the heat will be more bearable, it is suppose to be in the mostly aroung the low 20s this week so shouldn't be to bad.

I know Sue :-(
my Dr thinks my sleeping pattern has something to do with my going out problem :-(
