I thought only witches made concoctions...

Hmm, I wonder if spells can traverse oceans

Persephone

Persephone Report 6 Aug 2013 09:45

sheesh Linda I don't eat them together.. they were first course and second course.....

but of course.

I didn't make the banana bread, mine would not be as sweet as this one was but it was a big hearty workman's slab of it.

I think if himself didn't live here, I would hardly every buy milk. I would get buttermilk which lasts and use that for cooking some of my concoctions...

Sushi and Banana bread sounds to be a weird combination Persie :-S

I like Port Salut as well, probably because you can just about see the fat oozing out of it

The sun is shining,so I will go to the supermarket soon as we need the mundane items such as milk.

Persephone Report 6 Aug 2013 07:05

I am going to have a provincial slice of toasted banana bread..

Maccas have been doing toasted raspberry and pear bread and I rather like that as well.

Buns: 1 daughter liked pink iced bun, 1 daughter liked bun which had awful cream and a dollop of jam in it and I liked a bun with sultanas in it. Himself would have a bap or bread roll.

In the seventies used to go to our Penny Lanes which made crescent rolls and they were my favourite and nearly everyone else in the office would have one as well for morning teas.

Jem.... sounds like the grandie is on the mend, do hope all goes well for the little one xx

Tec.. I am more a cheese and chutney. I like nearly any cheese except blue vein. My favourite is Port Salut. I just eat that straight from its wrap.. and go back for more and more until it is all finished same day... so don't buy it very often.

Just had my sushi ( yeah I know it's not Friday Sylvs but Sushi goes down easily after being to the dentist) so now for Banana bread..

Persie :-)

Hi Sue, and everyone

Jem ....... some good news about the baby xxxxx

The weather has changed again ........... back to hot sunny weather

OH called his Welsh grandparents Nain and Teid. His sister opted to be called Nain when her grandchildren were born. So I asked OH if he would like Teid when MJ was due ............. daughter gave us first "pick" on names. But he said no, and went for Grandpa.

I'm Grandma. Others are Grammy and Granddad ......... Grammy being a very common name on the East Coast.

"Granddad" was funny .............. first time he saw us after MJ was born, he said, very proudly "beat you to the name". Haven't dared to tell him we had first choice!

MJ has been very good, saying Grandma and Grandpa each very clearly since he first started being able to say the words. Grammy and Granddad are also very clearly said ................. I keep forgetting to ask what they call M's "Grammy" ............... I know there was debate about Great Grammy or ???????

My grandmother was only in her 40s when my brother was born, and said she was too young to be called that .............. so it became Mother and Father.

I came along some 10 years later, and of course, it was Mother and Father for me as well. :-D

My other grandparents had both died by the time I was born .............. but brother and cousins talked about Grandma or Grandmother.

We have a visitor from NZ via Europe arriving tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon, so I am not sure when I will be around.

take care everyone

Goodnight Tec and Diane - sleep well <3 <3

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 5 Aug 2013 23:42

Yes Tec - and of course the two parties are campaigning in earnest now. By September we will have had more than enough. I almost don't care anymore as one is as bad as the other :-(

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 Aug 2013 23:37

I'm also off to bed now - busy day tomorrow. My daughter is arriving, so I'd better be on my toes :-D

Enjoy your day Sue,
Sleep better tonight Diane,

Hello Berona, and Persie,

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

Goodnight Linda - sweet dreams <3

Some of my friends have teenage grandchildren whereas mine are still little.

Diane - my mother was barely 40 when she became a grandmother and also didn't want to be called Grandma. As I was in my early 50's I thought it fitted nicely :-)

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 5 Aug 2013 23:31

Goodnight Linda - Sleep well - have fun in the supermarket tomorrow.

The bun was very nice Diane thank you.

Most unfair that children don't get the day off from school on their birthday.

I see you have an election in September Sue :-)

Diane

Diane Report 5 Aug 2013 23:29

I thought there was something odd about her :-D :-D

Well it look's like I'm going to be suffering with writer's cramp :-(

Time I was off to try and catch up with lost sleep.

Good night Linda and Tec sleep well <3

Enjoy your day Sue <3

~~~~~~ to other's who pop in later <3
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Aug 2013 23:25
Well, I will say goodnight, I need to gird my loins in the morning to face the supermarket. The old biddies are fine, but at this time of year, it is full with uncontrolled children
Goodnight everyone
Diane
Diane Report 5 Aug 2013 23:24
Sue I didn't want grandma ( no offence ) but as I was only nearly 37yrs old when my first grandchild was born I felt grandma was to old a name for me. If I was to be called grandma now I wouldn't mind as I feel old enough to be one, in about 5yrs I could be a great-grandma ( now I do feel old ) :-(
SueMaid
SueMaid Report 5 Aug 2013 23:24
:-0 - I was thinking that Linda but I would never have been so rude and say it :-0 ;-)
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 5 Aug 2013 23:22
I didn't want to tell you Diane, that I am your counsellor :-D.
He/she obviously knows what he/she is talking about. - So do it :-)
Linda I do like Wensleydale, also double Gloucester, and strong Canadian Black Diamond.
LindainHerriotCountry
LindainHerriotCountry Report 5 Aug 2013 23:21
Your poor granddaughter probably grew up all confused as to who those strange old people where.
Eve made a huge point of telling her mother that I have wrinkly elbows :-(
Tecwyn
Tecwyn Report 5 Aug 2013 23:16
Diane, surely you should be called what you like to be called.
When my grand daughter was little she went to an English school in Shropshire, and called her English grandfather - Grandad. There was no grandmother.
She knew us as Nain and Taid, but it was a long time before she seemed to realise that we were also her grandparents - because she knew us as Nain and Taid. :-D
Diane
Diane Report 5 Aug 2013 23:15
Tec were you in the room with us today ;-) that's exactly what counsellor advised.
Nice coffee Tec, anyone want a bun :-D :-D
Sue I eat a lot of bread especially crusty bread with loads of butter :-) I have been known to nibble the crusty ends of french stick before I get home ( good job no one else live's here ) :-D
