Neighbourhoods and the complexities of people do fascinate me . There are various folk that choose to ignore each other on my street , I don't speak to the couple that live nextdoor to me anymore , haven't done for years in fact .
But on the whole we all tick along in relative harmony :-)
I'm sure the newbys will soon settle in , it is a nice area to live .

Hello,

Been a lovely day here, dry and not too hot. My daughter is here. We've had a good day, with lots of laughter.

My daughter was 50 this year. Wait till your children are 50, then you'll know you're knocking on a bit :-D Happy Birthday to your son Amanda - hope he has a great time celebrating it. :-)

My neighbours garden has not been looked at in at least two years. It is waist high in nettles. The ivy invades my garden under the fence, and it snows dandelion seeds. The neighbour is elderly and can no longer manage it.
She has three grown children who never do a thing for her, though visit regularly.

Persie I am sorry to hear that you fell off the mat again.
Pay no regard to the ladies of Larkrise - sitting there in their bonnets making assumptions :-(
I know that you never touch alcohol ;-)

Most of the people on my part of the street have lived here for ages too, Amanda. It caused quite a stir when the house next door to us went up for sale. Everyone gets on really well except for one couple -they don't like anybody. They have no friends and even their three sons don't visit. I hope your new neighbours are alright.

Strictly speaking Linda I'm not , because I don't have any net curtains , I'm more of a leaf rustler as I hide amoungst the house plants on the windowsills :-D
It is only human curiousity I tell myself .....lol

Amanda2003 Report 6 Aug 2013 23:02

Thank you Sue :-) and Linda , I don't think so .....lol

My eldest child ( daughter ) was 28 last month , I'm beginning to feel a bit old :-(

I never imagined you as a curtain twitchier Amanda

Amanda2003 Report 6 Aug 2013 22:58

Is tonights subject " neighbours " ?

The house over the road from me has been causeing a stir as none of us curtain twitchers can work out who is moving in ....lol
It was bought by a woman a year ago from the lovely older lady that used to live there and was friendly with us all .
First a loutish tattooed lad moved in , he really was a " Billy big potato " if ever I meet one :-( Then the new owners " boyfriend " moved in as well . The police kept visiting , and " tattoo boy " was kicked out , then the other bloke moved out and it sat empty for several weeks .
Last night the people next to the said house told me a young couple where in there ( but no furniture ? ) , we have got a bit silly between us , exchangeing " updates on Facebook with each other ) and going in for competitive spying.........lol
The long and the short of it is the " owner " has now leased it out to two different sets of people , so I suppose it will be a house of multiple occupation ?
I just hope they are reasonably quiet for the sake of the rest of the road , most of us have lived here for donkeys years .

Hello good people :-D

I'veonly skip read back through the past few pages so I hope I haven't missed anything important .

Jem , I was so sad to read that your new baby Grandson was having such troubles but pleased to see that his kidneys have begun to do their job , what a lot of worry and tension for you all :-( I hope he continues to fight and that he is soon allowed home .

Linda , I hope Eve enjoys her time with Gaga ( hope I've got that right , there where an awful lot of Granny names to digest ) , and it sounds like good news that Esme might be allowed home soon <3 fingers crossed here for good results at the end of the week !

Persie , I'm glad you didn't hurt yourself to much :-0 I don't believe for a moment that your tripping was alcohol induced :-S

Today is my sons birthday , he is 26 :-0 I have Bella sleeping overnight and the other Nanny has Alice . My guess is that in the morning he will have a hangover .....lol

They are going on holiday soon, so I will pull the big weeds out of their drive while they are away. OH has just cut their Beech hedge while he was doing ours. We have just decided to adopt that so it doesn't make our house look bad. Plus they never put their cars in the garage which annoys OH

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 6 Aug 2013 22:41

The young couple next door are like that too. Very nice but they let the weeds and grass flourish. When you drive up the street part of their garden looks like ours. We also get weeds in our lawn from their garden. It's annoying but they are so nice we don't like to complain.

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Aug 2013 22:34

They are a nice young couple, but they let weeds grow in their gravel and don't cut the lawns very often, which makes our front look untidy. Her mother lives in Stockton,so is fairly close

You seem to be getting on well with your 'new' neighbours. It makes life easier for everyone. Do they have family living close by?

Someone will be very grateful to you and your OH when he gets his wallet back.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 6 Aug 2013 22:00

Sorry Persie, I was being a good person. In fact I have been very good today,so need my halo polishing.

My next door neighbour popped round and asked if I could do her a favour and look after the bay for an hour or so while she went to her physio appointment because he was fast asleep. being an obliging soul, I went straight round.

The baby is a smiley sort, almost six months old, he was supposed to sleep, but of course woke up five minutes after his mum left. He is not old enough to cry when she goes,so he was quite happy, I changed him and fed him, then we played.he is a ton weight and isn't very good at sitting up yet, he just wants to be held up on his feet and everything goes in his mouth.

After that we went to a local town for lunch because OH needed to go to a garden/farm shop to get something. As we were driving out, he noticed a wallet in the road,so he stopped and picked it up. It was full of bank cards and money. we think the person must have put it on his car roof when he came out of the garden centre, then driven off. I took it straight to the local police station.

Tonight we have been on cinema duty. It was Despicable Me 2, so we were nearly full. there was one heck of a mess to clear up at the end.

Haven't had a good drink of milk for a long time. I drank lots of it all my life until recent decades, when I was told to use skim milk. I am used to it, but don't enjoy it like the full cream. Since I only place a grocery order once in one or two weeks, I buy the UHT milk - skim milk by the 1ltr, and full cream milk in the small 6-packs of UHT for those who take milk - when I get visitors. I also have the small packs of UHT cream in the cupboard, for when I get the bug to cook something which requires cream. These days, I have to satisfy myself with ice cold water. No matter how cold the day is - or I am - I still like my water ice-cold. Perhaps I'm kidding myself that it's milk!

It is a bit on the sore side tonight.. but I shall be very brave.. :-0
