Hi Jem - great news about your little fellow too. You all must be so relieved. Sounds like your little grandson is a fighter.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Aug 2013 22:54

It is excellent news that your grandson may be home tomorrow. The sunlamp treatment soon sorts the jaundice levels out. Eve had it after she was born. I suppose they won't let him out until the Jaundice has completely gone though

I was talking to OH about the meteors, it is supposed to be a good time to see them. We have very little light pollution here,so as long as it isn't cloudy,we get a very good view of the stars. I couldn't wait up until that time though, I like my bed too much

Hi Linda and Tec and anyone else looking In!:-)

Wonderful news Linda about Esme being home! :-) I'm sure that Eve will love her to pieces, especially with Mum including her in Esme's care. It's good that Esme is also having the bottle sometimes too. Hope you get some positive answers soon.

Our baby's jaundice levels are up for the third time, so he has been back under the lamps, but it has already come down. Mum is staying at the hospital tonight and hopefully, the baby may be coming home tomorrow! :-)

Tec- Sorry to hear that you have been under the weather. I did think that you did not sound your usual bubbly self, and wondered if you were ok. Hope that you are feeling better and that your ulcer is improving.:-)
I agree with Persie about your neighbours. They probably intend to write to you as they know your address.

Myself, OH and Grandson 1 are going out tonight to watch the Perseids. We have a picnic, chairs, blankets etc. and are trying to think of a dark place not too far away to watch. Between 2 and 4 this morning is supposed to be the best time! :-)

Hi to Sue, Sylvia, Berona, Huia, Diane, Persie, Amanda and anyone that I may have forgotten (Sorry) on the Australian Thread-Love Jem <3

Good morning Sue

It is good that she is home, but the feeding seems to be going backwards, I hope they can find out what is wrong soon

SueMaid Report 11 Aug 2013 22:40

Good morning/evening friends - hope you are all well :-)

Wonderful news that Esme is home. The three hourly feeding will be tiring for your daughter but she must be so happy to have both her girls together and it will be less tiring than having to go to the hospital every day.

Tecwyn Report 11 Aug 2013 22:26

Esme obviously doesn't like to be disturbed :-)
but as you say, she is bound to make her presence felt later.

I am going to make coffee now - back in a jiffy

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Aug 2013 22:20

Esme doesn't seem to cry much at the moment, only when she is having her nappy changed. I am sure she will make up for it later on

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 Aug 2013 22:16

I am less tired today thank you Linda.

Perhaps Esme might enjoy some ice cream if had a choice, but not sure it is good for her right now. :-D
I'm sure Eve will be a great "Mother's Help"
Hope Eve doesn't get up if Esme howls during the night :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Aug 2013 22:10

Hello Tec, I hope that you are feeling less tired today.

Eve was clambering all over the place,so poor Esme will have something to contend with. She is kind though, she had some ice cream as a treat while we had the Champagne, she wanted to give Esme some of it. She helps with the nappies, she dips the cotton wool balls into the water and passes them to her mum

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 11 Aug 2013 21:54

It is wonderful news that Esme is home. Good news for her, and Eve, and their parents.
Hopefully she will come to take more by mouth as time passes.

I just know that Eve will be delighted to have her little sister home :-)

LindainHerriotCountry Report 11 Aug 2013 19:07

I am really pleased because Esme is home.as soon as she got home, we spoke to them on Skype for a long time. The other grandparents are down visiting,so we had a bottle of Champagne at each end so we had a family toast for her

She still has a long way to go,she has to be fed every three hours, but is only trying with the bottle on every other feed. she has thirty minutes to try the bottle, then the rest goes in through the tube. The alternate feeds are done purely through the tube.

They still haven't had all the test results, some will be given by phone and they have appointments for other tests to be done. at least she is home which is good news for them

Goodnight Tec - hope you feel much better tomorrow <3

Sylvia - that fell into place for you both. Things are looking up for your SIL re her health. A visit from you both will be a real tonic.

night night, Tec

sleep tight. xx

It is so hot here, that OH has resorted to sleeping in the basement, leaving our bed for me to toss around in.

Sue ............... it has really worked out well

s-i-l finished her chemo treatments about 5 weeks ago, and is back at work part-time, starting last Sunday (she's an Anglican vicar)

she's absolutely delighted that we're going up, and OH jumped at it when I made the suggestion.

BUT ............. until the NZ visitor said she wouldn't need anything from us until August 27, we were stuck

........... and the whole summer has been like that!

Hello Sylvia,

Your trip to Jasper sounds very exciting - I hope you have a wonderful time, and a very happy anniversary.

I hope we may hear from the family before Christmas - would like to know how they all are.

Well I must go to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sue, Persie, and Sylvia,

Hello Berona :-)

Goodnight,
Tec. :-)

Hello Sylvia - it's all go for you :-D The visit with your OH's sister sounds good and I'm sure your OH will enjoy spending it with his family as much as they will enjoy being with him. What a lovely thoughtful gift.

we once had neighbours, one of their cats was called Velcro ............ because he was always getting stuck :-D

I had to laugh one day ..................... i was about to walk past their front path when this "thing" streaked down the path, across the sidewalk, took a flying leap upwards .................... and ended up clinging to the trunk of the Maple tree about 4' or so above the ground.

Then he looked at me as if to say "get me down"

SylviaInCanada Report 10 Aug 2013 23:23

Hi Sue, and everyone

another sunny hot day ........ although there were very dark clouds around this morning. Plus heavy rain in some areas around Vancouver

The sun started breaking through about noon.

We've now had sun and high temperatures since last Saturday. One day of rain, and that was it!!

Our visitor left yesterday (Friday) to stay with a friend on the Island, she'll be back on Tuesday for a couple of days.

She'll be able to go out for dinner with us on Tuesday evening to celebrate our 46th anniversary .................. the actual day is Monday, but the restaurant is closed on Mondays.

Then her friend arrives from NZ on the 15th, and they do their own thing for 2 weeks.

That has given us a few days to let us go up north to stay with OH's sister ............. and lets him celebrate his 75th with family. I was at a complete loss about what to do, so this works out nicely.

We're flying up there, then taking the train home. We catch the first train at s-i-l's town, stay overnight in a hotel and arrive in Jasper on the 2nd day. Then we stay overnight in Jasper, and catch The Canadian the next afternoon, and arrive in Vancouver the following morning.

It should be great fun!

We went for morning coffee earlier today, then to the Rail Station, and got our tickets printed out.

I love the long tickets you get in this country ..................... one for each train you're taking.

so ................ 2 trains, plus the "paid" ticket = 3 tickets. Total length of ticket is about 18"

Also got my "non lactose food" sorted out for the first train ............... sandwiches only on there, and every one on the "sample menu" had some sort of cheese on them!

Plane tickets are also printed out :-D :-D

So glad to read that the babies are doing much better. xxxx

Tec .................. I'm sorry to hear that you have a bad leg, and also the angina.

Please do take it easy, and don't fret!

It is sad that the children were not brought to say goodbye .......... but it is possible that they were unsettled and unhappy, and the parents thought it would be worse for them.

It is possible that you may hear from them, around Christmas ....... after all, they know your address.

take care everyone

The cat we had for 17 years always sorted the dogs out, no matter how big they were. She never stood for any nonsense, and always put them in their place if they got cheeky with her. :-D

I laughed at the poor cat sticking to a tree like velcro :-D
