Linda, you surprise me. I can't believe that you're going to a "common" holiday place - how awful :-D
You could have got a better deal in Egypt, Mali, Syria, Zimbabwe, or even Caracas

There are ruins of the castle at Dubrovnic on the end of the jetty in the old harbour, well there used to be.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Aug 2013 21:01

Yes, it is a very common holiday place. We have been a couple of times before, we are going just outside Dubrovnik. The last time I was there it was called Yugoslavia and I was pregnant with my son

Croatia???

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Aug 2013 20:42

I am a poor pensioner, I can't afford an oven cleaning service :-(

Oh by he way did I tell you I have booked a holiday to Croatia for early September :-D

Your war dance did make me laugh thanks, but I think you had better sit down now

Tecwyn Report 14 Aug 2013 20:31

Well what can I do to cheer you up?

I could do an impression of a stork standing on one leg dancing a fandango with a feather in my hat :-D

Surely that would make you laugh.

There is a man around here with an oven cleaning service. Promises to leave your over sparkling like new, and apparently quite reasonable, and his charges aren't bad either :-D Shall I send him up next time?

LindainHerriotCountry Report 14 Aug 2013 18:45

I spent the afternoon, cleaning the oven,so I need cheering up

Hello and goodnight from me. We have had a nice day with a top temp of 20.Supposedly 6 above average. We had a cold snap last week but it only lasted for a couple of days and unless we get another, I think our winter is just about over! Such that it was. I suppose now that I've said that, we will be freezing by the end of the week!
Nothing much worth looking at on TV. so I'm going to go to bed early and read. It's so cozy in bed and I can turn off the heating as the house is warm and tomorrow's forecast looks good.
To other Aussies and Kiwis, hope you are warm and cozy too. Sleep well.

To those on the other side of the world. Hope you have a good day!

I looked out before I went to bed, but it was cloudy, plus there was an overwhelming smell of pig poo - the farmers round here spread all sorts of delicacies on their fields. OH gets really annoyed because if a factory was making the air so bad, they would be prosecuted, but the farmers can make the whole town feel sick and all they get is a mention in the council minutes

Gosh Sue- What a brave thing to do!! But also sad. I don't think I could cope with not seeing my Grandchildren again. I'm very lucky to live so close. I see them most days and of course I have brought up my eldest Grandchild- my 14 year old Grandson.

Of course today, with the computer age, Skype, etc it's not quite as bad as years ago.

Have a good day Sue. I will probably go to bed instead of going meteorite watching tonight!! Saw loads last night and the police turned up wanting to know what we were doing? It didn't help that my husband had his "About To Break Into The Bank" balaclava hat on! :-D :-D

I must be off now and get started with my day. It's nice and sunny today so I should do some washing.

Sleep well, Jem <3

Jem - it was such an enormous move. My mother was only 22 y.o. and neither she nor my father ever saw their fathers again. They did go back several times and my mother was able to see my grandmother. My grandparents never saw me again or the 3 children they had here in Aus.

My best friend and her family (mum, dad, Great Uncle and 6 brothers) emigrated to Australia when we were 16.
We were living in a very small village and with all those children going at once, it felt like the village was dead. She was the 2nd oldest, and I was friends with her older and the next down younger brother also.

We kept in touch for a long time, but she moved around a lot, and eventually lost touch.

Goodnight, Linda - sleep tight <3

Jem - I've lived in Australia since I was 3. Me and my OH have been back a few times over the years. He was also born in England but of course we met here in Australia.

Goodnight

LindainHerriotCountry Report 13 Aug 2013 23:24

She is just turned three and exploring the world

I wish I lived nearer to them, but we have a video chat on Skype most days. They have it hooked up to their large TV which is on the wall The camera takes in a wide area of their lounge so Eve just moves around chatting away to us. It keeps us real to her between visits

It is nice that you were able to have a cuddle, the babies look so cute on the sun bed with their goggles on, I have a photo of Eve like that.

Well, I must go to bed now, so goodnight everyone

JemimaFawr Report 13 Aug 2013 23:23

That's lovely Sue. How long have you lived in Australia?

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 13 Aug 2013 23:20

Nothing like a cuddle with a new baby.

I'm chatting with a long lost cousin on my mother's side. We found each other through my brother on FB. It's lovely chatting to her but we've not met her on our visits to the UK :-(
