Amanda I hope that your daughter finds an opening in the care industry that suits her.
There is absolutely nothing around here for the school leavers.
The puppy sounds amusing. Amazing how an old dog will very often get on with a lively puppy. I think they also find them amusing.

There were normal old people doing exactly as you describe Linda - but then I am not a typical old person. :-D.
I want to go to pop concerts and rave till I drop- dead :-D

You should have taken a flask and a picnic to eat in the car, then you really would be typical old people :-D

I hope your daughter finds a job which she enjoys doing Amanda

It has just taken me an age to get back onto the thread.... again :-(

Thank you Linda . I think my daughter is planning to get employment in the care industry ( is that the correct word to use when it applys to people and their needs ? ) , it would be good for her to put the learning she has done to some practical use .

We had a small puppy in the house today :-) one of Megs friends bought her round for a few hours , a jack russel pup , very friendly and wriggerly :-D she seemed to like our old boy Milo , he did a bit of high pitched barking and puppy ran in circles round him :-S it was amuseing to watch .

Congratulations and Well Done to Meg Amanda in passing her A-Levels. Wishing her well with her future whatever she decides to do.

Linda that was a nasty surprise at the cinema, more than you wanted to do.

Been a nasty wet day here, but quite humid.
The Duchess had a hospital appointment, which didn't take long, so afterwards we sat in the car like old people looking at the sea from the promenade until it poured with rain.
Then we came home to apple pie and cream with our coffee. :-)

Congratulations to your daughter Amanda. Does she know what she wants to do next?

Hello Linda , I have been having problems getting onto the thread but have managed it at last :-|

Yes , our Meg got her results today . She only took 2 " A " levels , photography and " health and social care " , she has managed a " C " grade in them both , she is very pleased , as are we :-D

I haven't read back through the thread and shall endevour to do so before this evening ( now I've actually managed to get on here ! ) .

I hope that Esme is doing well at home <3

I'll be back later this evening but we are late getting to the chooks today ( OH has been off fishing all day ) .

Is it A level results day for Amanda's daughter, or have I missed a year out somewhere?

You will be worn out and tucked up fast asleep by now Sue.

I went to the cinema and my heart sank because their had been a huge delivery of sweets and canned drinks, all stacked up in the entrance hall, it took me a good hour to check them off and put them away before I could start on the jobs I had gone to do in the first place

Hi Linda - I thought you might have had an early night too.

We had a lazy day today until we picked up the children from school and then it's all go.

LindainHerriotCountry Report 15 Aug 2013 09:32

Oh sorry Sue, i missed you. As Tec had climbed the wooden hill early and no one else was around, I had an early night as well.

It was raining very hard overnight and it is still drizzling this morning. I need to go to the cinema to do some admin, but I think i will wait a while to see if it clears up.

I have trouble with all the names of the Balkan countries as well Berona. I only know where Croatia is because we went there on holiday a couple of years ago. It has a beautiful coastline but not much sand. The beach where we are going is just stones.

Berona

Ah! so that's where Dubrovnic is! Another geography lesson. So many names have changed since I was at school. For years, I wondered where this place, Sri Lanka, was until I heard mention of it's capital, Colombo - and I said "Oh, that's where it is - I've been there!" I had been to Ceylon!

Has Tec gone off to bed already :-0 Sleep well <3

Cold and windy here although the sun is shining. It was a lovely day yesterday but the wind kept coming up and the temperature would drop.

Croatia sounds interesting, Linda. Definitely not Egypt - it's not the best place to be at the moment.

Yes I think I will .

Goodnight Linda,

Hello Sue, and anyone who looks in,

Off you go then and catch up with your sleep. Goodnight

Tecwyn Report 14 Aug 2013 21:32

I was going to watch, but the Duchess is watching Agatha Christie's Blue Geranium on some obscure channel - not bothered as I'm too tired to concentrate anyway.

Might go to bed soon, as I was up half the night muttering utterances :-(

I am watching WDYTYA although I missed the first fifteen minutes because OH was watching football and I didn't realise the time

The hotel we are staying in was completely destroyed in the war in the nineties. I hope they have rebuilt it :-(

Tecwyn Report 14 Aug 2013 21:19

There's nothing quite like a few bullets flying past your ears to liven up a holiday you know :-D

I was once in Singapore the day they had assassinated the Prime Minister or someone. The Singalese were fighting the Chinese, who were fighting the Asians.
Bullets flying, full scale riots and mayhem with everything burning.
It was an interesting day.

Singapore is very nice and law abiding now, but too hot.

I think I will stick with my five star hotel in Croatia, your other suggestions sound just a little too volatile for me.
