Oh dear that doesn't sound very good. Can't you ring up on Monday and talk to them to make sure that they have the correct dressing ready

I didn't get on very well really. My leg is in a right mess, and much worse than Tuesday. The nurse I've seen twice is very nice, but not very knowledgeable about leg ulcers. It didn't inspire confidence when she asked me what to do with it. I did explain on Tuesday what dressing is most effective for me, going by past experience, but only today did she make a note of it - on her hand :-0 - anyway I go back on Tuesday.

Yes the floor was level...........
It just felt all wrong lying contrary to the gradient of the hill. If you were lying outside on a hill you would have your feet toward the bottom of the hill wouldn't you?
Something to do with gravitational pull I expect.
I do know what I'm talking about you know :-(

Just off to bed...
August says " Don't touch the earthquake, just runaway"
His father said at dinner tonight that they would look at an aftershock later (meaning checking the magnitude on the web) and August wanted to see the earthquake now!
Another little friend Lily said "where is the earthquake? I can't see it."
So I will go down there with the same attitude..
As for beds being uphill or down dale.. I am not too sure on that one.

Just sneaking a look before I put the computer to bed. I was told (many years ago) that our English ancestors (the men) used to say "God's Truth"! and as it was passed down the generations, became 'strewth'. Haven't heard anyone use the term this side of WW2, but since the soapie "Home and Away" has become more popular and is shown in other countries, the term is used by one of the actors - and has given the overseas viewers the impression that it is a popular term. If it was, it would only be used by men. It wouldn't be very ladylike for women to use it (although I've heard worse - it's amazing what terms can be picked up from TV and movies!).......Have a nice day. Goodnight from me,

Good Morning :-)
Bright and sunny here, after it poured with rain all night. Line full of washing out hoping to dry.
Concerned to see there's been another quake in Wellington Persie. You should take your tin hat with you. I see that you are still re-building the town :-( When we moved into our last house that was on a steep hill, I couldn't sleep very well at first. Then I realised that the position of the bed was such that my head was downhill. I moved the bed to the opposite wall so that I was the right way up, if you get what I'm rabbitting on about. After that I slept very well. Incidentally, yes, the bedroom floor was level :-D
Linda - I slept on and off, and was up between 4 and five. Would like to go back to bed right now, but things to do, and I have to visit the lovely nurses this afternoon, taking my leg with me of course.
Berona - On your advice I've resisted practicing the tango for the moment :-D, so will just sit and listen to the band for now. That doesn't mean that you have to stop practicing too - just don't trip over Kitty. :-D
Hope everyone is having, or a had a good day - Bye :-)

Hello everyone... have been monitoring the progress on your leg Tec.. Time is a great healer so they say.
Covers and curtains may have to wait.
I have naval history in my family on my father's side. Sea captains. lieutenants etc one poor bloke got killed by smugglers off the coast of Dorset he was a lieutenant and a coastal commander.. he should have stayed in Kent with the rest of them.
On my mother's side I have quite a lot of "old cobblers."
Amanda.. clue in the cryptic crossword I was doing this morning:
Q: Crikey, a good man threw rubbish. A: Strewth
My dad did use strewth quite a bit... betcha he learnt it in Australia (where he was born) before he came here. Little children of 18 months old are very susceptible to certain elements of the language that they should not pick up.
My daughter's city has once again been besieged by earthquakes today. Last time it was a Sunday where as today was a busy Friday so far more people were affected. Not by the shakes but by the gridlock of cars and buses. The suburban trains has to all be cancelled.
Had to laugh, there was one class at a Wellington School that were practicing earthquake drill when the first big quake struck. One child asked if they had created special effects to make it seem more real. I am not sure if the school was anywhere near the Weta Workshop in Miramar that creates these visual delights etc for those Hobbits etc.
We have just taken the casement windows out of the up the steps part of our bedroom. We have purchased a smaller one for the area. We have always had the bed so the head of it was along a different wall but now this would enable the purchaser to put the bed with the head part beneath the window.
I am off to Wellington on 24th and back on 31st so looking forward to a bit of shake rattle and roll. :-S :-S :-S
Persie... curtseys to Sue and says thank you for the message of concern. :-) :-)xx

Just having my say on an earlier subject. We eat scones too...call them scons. However, we also have a township in New South Wales, named Scone and that is pronounced the other way (long vowel as in home).
Good to know the babies are progressing well - and waiting to hear the name of the little boy.
Tec - take care of that leg. You can stop practicing the tango for this week, if that will help. Just don't forget to get back into practice as soon as it's OK again.
We have had a lovely sunny day to-day (5 to 21) and tomorrow is forecast 11 to 22. Can't believe the temps are so high for August - but certainly not complaining!!
Have a good trip Sylvia and enjoy your celebrations.

We'll fly there tomorrow, stay a week, then take the trains home
One train will take us from her town to Jasper, then we'll transfer to The Canadian to get back down here.
2 hours to fly there ............... almost 4 days to get home!! :-D :-D
Home all goes well for the next 10 or so days

Jem - I also have a connection with ancestors in the Merchant Navy. Some of them were Master Mariners. Sadly two of them were lost at sea in the 1800's. Not uncommon I should imagine.

That's a very interesting ancestry Jemima, you should have salt water in your veins :-D I shall look up Captain Dan Nicholas. Wow, imagine having ten sons :-) There is no history of seafarers in my family, but it was all I ever wanted to do.
Clothing is cheaper now Sue, so hardly worth making at home. It was very different when I was small. Clothing was rationed, and anyway my mother couldn't afford to buy clothes for us, so she made them. I have old photo's of my siblings wearing things I remember her making.
Well I am going to bed, though I know it is a waste of time :-0
Enjoy your day Sue,
Sleep well Jemima,
Hello Berona, and Persie when you arrive here :-)
Goodnight, Tec :-)
