JemimaFawr Report 17 Aug 2013 21:08

Sounds interesting Tec. What kinds of recipes are in it?

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2013 21:04

I'm going to be in awful trouble when Sue appears, because all the cake has gone now :-(

Maybe she'll settle for a bun :-D

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2013 21:01

I have an old recipe book printed in 1936 in Philadelphia by the Amish settlers.
These were mainly the German ones.

It is very interesting - might try some of the recipes, there are things I've never heard of - quite simple too - like me :-D

Shaun is offering Pastai Brain Bach to tempt us to the Welsh Thread!! :-D :-D :-D

C/P from Google-
As there would have been a plentiful supply of rook:-S in the area we set out below the recipe of
Pastai Brain Bach.
Only the meat from the breasts of the birds was used, and this was put in a pie dish lined with
short pastry. Chopped bacon, chives, and thyme were added, the meat seasoned, and a little
stock added. The pie was covered with pastry and baked in a moderate oven. (Oven Control,
Mark 6).
Note. Rook was plentiful, and it was usual to have a rook shoot in May, when farmers shot
many young rooks.

I was going to don my running shorts Jemima, but the ulcer was a good excuse not to participate :-D

We have ramblers here that walk miles every Friday - some of them look quite elderly - they must be fit :-D

Everyone is in the wars! :-(

Sorry that you are suffering Tec, must be nasty.

Hi Linda-Sorry about your daughter Linda. I'm glad she's feeling better today. Poor thing having to wait all that time, and now having to wait until Tuesday for a scan. With two small children to look after too!

Tec- cos I don't really understand Kilometers, I converted it- 6.2 miles which is about the distance from where I live just outside Llanelli to Pembrey Country Park, where we go to walk etc frequently- My Grandson can visualise the distance now!

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2013 20:42

Jemima's Grandson also went to the cinema.

Bara Bruth with cream is very odd, but maybe it's the done thing where Shaun lives :-D

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2013 20:39

I believe the lead runners do beat the train Linda, but the train puffs up a steep gradient up the mountain, and through the forest.

It originally brought the slate down from the quarry to the jetty at Towyn in the 19th C.

I like Bara Brith but I don't fancy it with cream

Hello Linda,

I'm sorry that your daughter has been unwell - poor girl.
Isn't it ridiculous that everything stops for the weekend in hospital. I hope very much that she better soon.

You also deserve a large slice of Victoria sponge.

Shaun's Bara Brith with cream sounds very odd Jemima :-D

Do many people go faster than the train?

It was me who was at the cinema Tec, but working hard, not watching it

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 17 Aug 2013 20:29

Good day for the cinema Jemima.....

The Tal-y-Llyn race is 10 kilometres long - running clubs come from all over UK. It's run by the Rotary Club, in conjunction with the Tal-y-Llyn railway which is the oldest narrow gauge railway in the world, and was the inspiration for the Thomas The Tank stories.

The ulcer is very sore :-0 Thank you for asking

LindainHerriotCountry

LindainHerriotCountry Report 17 Aug 2013 20:27

Coffee and cake sounds nice thank you

It has been raining here this afternoon and is really dark now, just like the back end.

I did an extra cinema shift on a children's matinee, it was Monsters Uni and was very busy. We sold lots of sweets and ice creams which is good for the profits

i had a long chat to my daughter this morning, she is much better. She was whisked off in an ambulance last night, then sat around in A&e for 4 hours. They were going to do an ultrasound scan, but it is the weekend of course, so she has to wait until Tuesday

I am playing two camps Tec- I've been seeing what they can offer me on the Welsh Thread- but nobody's home!!!! :-D :-D :-D :-D :-D

It's been awful here too Tec. Very windy with torrential rain at times. Grandson went to the pictures with his friends instead of going to Parc Howard like he'd planned.

That race sounds really fun. My Grandson would love it! He tries to race the train, from the beach (the railway line runs alongside it) when we visit Ferryside. :-)

How are your ulcers today Tec?
