If you keep them long enough they will be back in fashion again. Just warn me next time you wear them so I can member my sunglasses

I went to the cinema this morning and spent the morning defrosting the upright freezer. That took ages because the shelves don't come out. It is done now, I have left it standing open to get it thoroughly dry before I put it back on, so it doesn't frost up again.

We also have a chest freezer and I cleaned that last week. that wasn't by choice though! As the ice cream stock was low, an idiot man decided to put the remaining ice creams into the upright and turn the chest freezer off to save energy. It never occurred to him that it would defrost so the thick layer of ice would fill the bottom with water. OH and I ended up having to empty it and clean it. Some people just have no common sense.

I think the reason for the decline in the standard of dress is that the shops seem to be flooded with cheap tacky clothes, poor quality, badly made. That is the case in men's shops anyway.
Anything half decent is now very expensive. A good shirt is upwards of £25, and a decent pair of quality shoes are over £100.
I see men slopping about in track suit bottoms and trainers. I've never owned a pair of trainers in my life. I suppose they have their uses, but some people seem to live in them.
Some of the clothes in my wardrobe are years old, but they were good quality when bought, and good quality clothes don't date like cheap ones.
I've never been a dedicated follower of fashion, so don't care if I look a bit old fashioned when out.
:-D
Time I got rid of those purple flares though :-D

OH has a real thing about clean shoes as well Berona. I must say it really does let a person down when they have dressed smartly and you look down to their feet only to see a scruffy pair of shoes which have not seen a polish brush since they were bought

Hello all. Hope you are sleeping well or having a nice day. Still sunny but cold here, although not as cold as it might be for August.

My OH always wore a suit and tie when we went out - even to visit friends or shopping. When he worked as a tradesman, he wore a flannelette shirt in winter - sleeves turned up (under a dustcoat) and when he progressed, his boss had to ask him to wear a tie - so back to the cotton shirt and tie - but even though he worked in factories where there was metal dust and grease, in all those years, he always brushed his shoes each morning - a habit he had before I met him and he never lost it.

Oh dear :-D

Goodnight again

I think it's a matter of taking pride in your appearance,

In my work I spent years of having to be turned out immaculate every day, all day, which meant a change of uniform several times a day sometimes.

It becomes a habit - even in this very rural area I always try to be tidy when I go out

Goodnight Linda - sweet dreams <3

My OH always dressed up when we went out. He still likes to dress well and sometimes feels overdressed - especially when he wears a jacket.

I don't get out much these days, but going by what I've seen on tv of girls on a night out in the towns, I can imagine what Linda saw in Fairthingy.

When I was young, a long time ago, the lads always made an effort when going out, sometimes even a suit and tie, and the obligatory Brylcreem'd hair :-D :-D :-D

I was always smart when I went out, especially on a date :-)

Probably not - that's how I know I'm getting old. I'm starting to disapprove of a lot of things.

I don't think you would have approved of the way the girls in Fairthingy were dressed

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 21 Aug 2013 22:42

What I have noticed here is that some of the young girls dress up very nicely to go out but the boyfriends dress in jeans and hoodies. Such a shame.
