Hi Sue :-)
Glad you had a lovely time at Drew's Party. Did Superman gatecrash and eat all the pies? :-D
Do you live in a city/ town or in a more rural place Sue?

Hi Amanda :-)
Glad your Daughter is all settled in her new house. You must be worn out now though!

There are drawbacks Jemima,

We don't have the conveniences of the supermarkets. We have the Co-op and little shops ten miles away, and of course we don't have the big DIY stores. The nearest proper hospitals are 45 and 72 miles away.
We do have a small village shop, but our post office has gone, and this summer the school was closed too.

Where we used to live we had all these things around us, but you do get used to it, and with a little organisation we manage very well.
The upside is the peace and quiet and tranquillity of the area. No traffic normally, and out of season I can drive for ten miles and not see another car.

Hello everyone :-)

It sounds as if you are all having exciting weather . We had a little bit of rain overnight last night , but the ground still looks very dry to me .

Carole , I'm sorry to see you are leaving GR :-( but as you say , the site has gone down hill in a lot of ways and that blasted " error " message drives us all nuts . I wish you well <3

Berona , Persie and Huia . :-( that we all missed you last night , the clocks will soon do the back and forward thing , then we can catch up once again :-)

Linda , it is lovely to hear that Esme is takeing more and more feeds the natural way :-D

Tec , I do hope that leg of yours begins to heal up soon x

Jem , I hope your Grandson finds his name soon :-)

Well , we had a day of days :-0 My eldest daughter is now in her new house , I hadn't been inside until a few hours ago and have to agree that it all looks very nice indeed , much bigger than it looks from the outside . I just hope she settles there !!
I had three of the little ones here all day ( as my son was helping with the move ) , the girls have gone back to their home and Addison is fast asleep , having spent the day running poor Nanny ragged with his two cousins .
They where all quite well behaved for the first three hours ....then they got their naughty heads on I think :-|

Hello everyone :-)

You have all been very chatty - nice to read when I get up in the morning.

I like a good thunderstorm but in summer there is the danger of lightening starting a bush fire especially if it doesn't rain.

I'm sorry to see you go Carole - you are one of our long time friends on here and we'll miss you :-(

The Book parade was good and children were so happy to see us. Their other grandmother was there too and their aunt who is back from 3 years overseas so that made their day too. A strange man dressed in a Superman's costume turned up :-0

Drew's birthday dinner was fun. He was so excited and kept asking us all if we were having a good time.

We haven't got that many 5* hotels Linda - some of us are simple folk, with simple tastes. :-D

I am personally not keen on post hotels, and I have stayed in a few. I prefer a more relaxed atmosphere.

but not as basic as a Youth Hostel :-D

Lucky You Tec!!!! Although I dear say it has some draw backs.

I always yearn to go home to Ferryside to live, or at least somewhere more rural, but I dear say I would probably miss the convenience of living so near town/ shopping park. 24 hour Tesco is just about a 5 mins drive away. You get used to these things!

LindainHerriotCountry Report 23 Aug 2013 22:22

I have been on holiday to the Lleyn Peninsula as well, That was a long time ago, before I got a taste for 5* hotels :-D

It is a lovely area Jemima - we live in the Snowdonia National Park, that is very popular with the tourists, but really you need good weather.
It is very quiet in the village I live, with population of only 400 people, and 40,000 sheep :-D

JemimaFawr

JemimaFawr Report 23 Aug 2013 22:14

The Lleyn Peninsula is lovely Tec. :-)
I have stayed in Pwllheli twice. I went once for a weekend,14 years ago, with friends. We went on the Mountain Train up Snowdon. It was amazing looking down at a light plane flying beneath us! :-)
On the way up the train had to go very slowly as there was a mother duck and her ducklings walking in a line on the line!!! :-D

We went to Porthmadoc and Caernarvon Castle, and to Criccieth on the way home. Criccieth reminded me a little of Ferryside/ Llanstephan.

OH and I with Grandson 1 and Granddaughter 1 went there for a short break last year.

Sometimes the lightning across the sea can be fascinating Jemima - I like to watch it come across the bay from the Llyn Peninsular - very often there is no sound.
