Tecwyn Report 1 Sep 2013 22:17

Hello :-)

Sylvia I haven't been troubled by the error page today - that's tempting fate isn't it? :-D
Shame we live in different time zones, we could go online during our sleepless nights and commiserate with each other :-D.
Hope things improve for you soon.

Hi Sue, and everyone

it seems that life might be settling down ................. a little bit anyway!!

I haven't managed to read back. Could someone update me on anything I have missed that is very important??

I gather the 2 babies are both doing well.

Our friend whose husband died in April is coming to stay for 1 night on Tuesday ............ then there is nothing on the calendar until Sept 29, when daughter and grandson arrive for a week.

I MIGHT get time to spend on here!

In addition to all the other things that have been going on ............ like visitors, holidays, etc ................... I've been going to the doctor's every 2 or 3 weeks. They want to replace one of my bp pills with another one, and that has to be done gradually.

Like Tec, I'm also having problems sleeping .................... the docs are checking that one out as well!

I seem to have a very low grade bladder infection (cystitis), which keeps flaring up. I can drink lots of water and get it under control, but then it returns if I cut back on the water. Nothing obvious is showing ................ but it means I have frequent trips during the night. A right old nuisance that is!!

We had a big thunderstorm on Thursday night, just as I was getting ready for bed. The storm was pretty close to here ............. one clap and flash seemed almost overhead!

The rain poured down, and we had a stream rushing down the street outside!

I think something like 40 mm of rain fell from Thursday lunch to Friday lunch :-0

Now the sun and warm temperatures are back.

Summer ends for all Canadians and Americans on Monday ............. that's Labour Day. The next day, all schools, unis, etc, open, and summer is "over".

take care everyone

Good morning all. Goodnight to those who might still be awake in the UK - and good afternoon to Sylvia in Canada.

Lovely day here to start Spring off. It's Fathers' Day here too - so Happy Fathers' Day to those who are celebrating it. Nice day for a barbie. Should get to the mid-twenties here, or more.

Where are all the up-toppers? Tec, Linda, Jemima, Amanda. Have I forgotten any others? Out of sight out of mind, if I have. It doesn't look as if we are going to see them until tomorrow.

This is the only site that runs slow for me. Very frustrating at times.

Huia

Huia Report 31 Aug 2013 22:45

Yes, I got a new modem and everything is working fine, or at least as fine as the slow sites will allow.

SueMaid Report 31 Aug 2013 22:42

Hello Huia - have you got your modem sorted?

Don't know where everyone is. I had a late night so slept in this morning. The sun is shining here and it looks like being a lovely day for the first day of Spring.

Today is the 1st of September. The sun is shining. I hope it stays a nice fine day. Where are the Aussies? Come on, out of bed you lazy heads. All the up-toppers must have gone out to the pub or a show or whatever. :-|

Hello from Downunder on our last day of Winter. It's more like Spring and although I hope it stays like that, I do wonder how hot our Summer will be!

Thank you all for your advice on getting a 'scooter'. I bought this house because it was all 'flat' floors with only one step from the living room into the garage (this could be easily converted to a ramp). I was looking ahead - in case I ever needed a wheelchair. I have been given a 'walker' which has wheels and a seat on it - but so far, I have not used it. I can still manage with the aid of a walking stick, and don't need that in the house, as there is something to 'grab' everywhere, if my knees should become unreliable. The idea of a motorised scooter is something I have been considering for a long time, since before I stopped driving, but I doubt if I would make use of it. I am happy to stay at home and only need to go out to get a haircut or to see the doctor and if I attend anything concerning my family, there is always someone who will come and get me, including visits to the hairdresser and doctor. Don't know if I'm being mean - I do know that if I bought one, I would buy the best available to suit me, but I just wonder if it would be worth while. Oh well, I'll keep thinking about it.. .

Night night Tec , I hope you get a reasonable sleep <3

Sue , I think it is lovely that Aidens Mum has remained a part of your family , she will be looking forward to seeing her sons cousins no doubt :-) It is so much better for the child of split parents to see care and respect remains for both its parents .
I wish you where coming to our " big day out " as well Sue I'm sure it would be right up your street .

Well I had better be saying Goodnight as well , sandwiches to make in the morning and all that ....lol

It sounds wonderful, Amanda - wish I was going along with you and your family :-D

Tecwyn Report 30 Aug 2013 23:17

It's nice that you are all friendly with Aiden's mum. Something to really look forward to in October - it will soon come round :-)

Well I'm off to bed now. I am not sleeping very well and have to get up most nights which is a bit wearing. The old dog can't cut the mustard anymore :-(

Enjoy your day Sue however you spend it.

Sleep well Amanda - enjoy tomorrow, and you Jemima,

Hello Linda, and Berona :-)

Goodnight,
Tec. :-)

Amanda2003 Report 30 Aug 2013 23:16

Sue , how lovely that you will have all your family in one place at the same time :-D I'm sure you will get lots of photos of them altogether <3

Tec , it is a weird " country fair " , there is always a display of dyke pumps working and old tractors etc , an ancient threshing machine ( as seen on " Dads Army " the very one :-0 ) , stalls selling craft things , ferrrets , birds of prey , a dog show , that sort of thing , the proceeds of the day go the local church and various charities . It is always held in a field of stubble and I'm sure that every wasp in the location gets a personal invitation .......lol I think it's quaint :-)

SueMaid

SueMaid Report 30 Aug 2013 23:08

I can't wait, Tec. It will also be good to have Aiden's mum here too as we are all very fond of her. Although she and my son aren't together they have remained friends.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Aug 2013 23:06

Hope you have a great day out at the Country Fair Amanda - arriving in convoy should be fun :-D I like those shows. There was one not far from here recently, but we didn't go. I like to see the animals, and the trade and craft stands.

Sue that will be wonderful to have all the family together - a rare event these days I expect. You must be as excited as the children :-)

Tecwyn Report 30 Aug 2013 23:00

I agree Sue - there are several people around here with a mobility scooter. The Duchess has one that we bought last year - it's a small one that breaks down to fit in the boot of the car. Well I have an Estate, but it would go into the average boot.

I think the bigger ones are better if you don't need to put it in the car. The smaller one the Duchess has is fine for her needs though.

I wouldn't mind using it myself at the moment, as walking is very difficult.

They are excellent for anyone with mobility problems. There isn't a charity here that has them as far as I know, but you can rent them for long or short term if you don't want to buy one. Also there are some good second hand ones to be had.
