I'm sorry to hear that Tec - such a sad end to your mother's life.

I've just opened the blinds and it's sunny again. Yesterday was quite warm and sunny so it looks like it will be the same today. We have nothing much planned for today so we may spend some time in the garden tidying up and preparing for Spring which seems to have already sprung.

Yes I'm stuck with the ulcer. My mother had exactly the same problem, but on the other leg. Things got so bad that they amputated her leg when she was 85, but she died three weeks later, and never left hospital.
The operation was successful, and healing, but I guess the shock was too much at her age.

I used to feel guilty when I sat about doing nothing, but don't anymore :-D.

It seems unlikely you'll ever get rid of the ulcer then :-(

I think we tend to feel a little guilty when we sit around doing nothing but then I think that it does me good to relax and enjoy :-D

I've had the ulcer for years Sue. It started following a DVT - it took three years to heal the first time, then broke out again, and so it goes on. I've seen various specialists, and surgeons. The pain comes from nerve endings apparently.

Why should you feel guilty for relaxing a bit? - you've earned a break now and then.

You must make a habit of it more often :-D

I take it the ulcer is always there and that it flares up on occasion? I can't imagine the pain - I hope it calms down soon.

I had a lazy day yesterday. I did some housework that had to be done, went out quickly to get some groceries and then sat and read on the verandah. I didn't feel at all guilty for being so lazy :-D

Good Morning Sue,

I'm ok thank you. Still in a lot of pain, but have stepped up painkillers, and that helps for a while - just call me hopalong :-D

I've just missed Linda - sorry you're not feeling well. Hopefully a good night's sleep will help.

Hello Tec - how are you today?

I have been catching up with phone calls.

I am shattered,so I am going to turn in really early and catch up on my sleep. Sorry to save you on your own.

Hello Linda,

Sorry to see that you have returned home with a sore throat - no doubt some strange Southern bug you've picked up. :-(
I do hope that you're not now going to infect the unsuspecting good people of Yorkshire - maybe you should go into quarantine :-D

Seriously, I hope you are better tomorrow. :-)

We will see a difference when the first frosts appear, and we can get them early morning in September.
My roses are still blooming well. Some are Old English shrub roses and only flower once, but most a continual blooming.
I wish we didn't have to contend with frost.

Well I'm off to bed now Sue,

Enjoy your relaxing day, make the most of it :-D

Goodnight,
Tec :-)

The rose bushes in the garden next door have been blooming for awhile. Some of my orchids are already flowering and as some are scented it smells like Spring. I've been feeding all my pot plants because they are already sending up new growth. As you mentioned the other day - we don't have to worry about frost.

Tecwyn Report 1 Sep 2013 22:50

It will make the winter seem shorter Sue.

We sometimes get a nice September - it is forecast to get warmer here this week, temps here of 23/24. and even 27/28 in the South.

Been the best summer since 2006.

The garden is full of flowers, but I need to get out there cutting back things that have outgrown their space, like some of the shrubs that are now looking a bit ragged.
Can't do it at the moment, but it can wait - they are not eating anything.

It's been unseasonably warm here at the moment. Most of August has been very nice with temperatures over 20C. I don't know if we'll get a cold snap but we've been sitting out on the verandah quite often and we haven't felt the need to put on the outside gas heater.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 1 Sep 2013 22:33

You must take advantage of the situation Sue :-D.

If it's a nice day get settled on the verandah with a good book, and a pot of coffee.

If it's cold then get on the sofa with a good book, :-D

I would have coped :-D I'm sure the last thing you would have felt like doing is chatting.

I have the house to myself this morning. OH and our son in law are playing golf and our son is off to Uni. I'm not sure what I'm going to do but I'm tempted to sit and read :-D

I am ok thank you - I wasn't so good last night so was irritable - now I know you don't want irritable old men on the thread do you :-D
