The night drives are not good for me Linda, I know he can see well, I can't and it annoys me.
When do you leave for your holidays? I hope you both have a lovely time away :-)

Hello Berona, I have probably missed you, I was just chatting with Eve on Skype, but they seem to have lost connection
I have just started to make plies of my clothes ready to take on holiday. It seems odd to be sorting swimming costumes out while it is cold and hammering down with rain outside

Hi Berona, I'm glad you are enjoying the nicer weather. We had a couple of nice spring days during the week. Its back to colder weather at the moment, we have the heating on.
The learner driver is doing well, he is nearly half way to his 120 hours. We are planing another trip to Geelong on Sunday, that will add another 2 and a half hours.

Hello all. Lovely spring weather here again - unbelievable that we might have seen the last of winter. Mildest one ever recorded. They can say that again! Huia - congratulations on another great grandchild. Best wishes to the parents. Perse - didn't get around to thanking you for nudging me when it was time to get onto the Greaders' page. Sue - hope you are enjoying this spring weather down your way too. Carole - good to know you stayed with us. How is the driver training going? Linda and Jem - hope the new babies are progressing well. Amanda - I don't know how you manage with all those grandies. I would get their names mixed up. Diane - so pleased the estate is finally settled. That should be a load off your mind. Tec - tell your doctor what you want him to do - he is getting paid to look after you so you have your say - don't be shy. Rest that leg as much as you can - no gardening for one thing! If I have forgotten anyone - I apologise. If I have not, I'm proud of myself!! I did it all from memory (which is not the best these days!).

Oh welcome back carole, I am really pleased .
I am blind asa bat without my specs,so I can't see what the new frames look like. My optician has a camera which takes photos of you with the frames on,so you can see on a computer screen what they look like. They do them in batches of four, it helps to make the choice

I hope everyone is well or as well as can be, most seem to be in the wars health wise :-(
I have an appointment in the morning at the optometrists , its way overdue. I'm looking forward to getting new specks :-D Its the picking out of new frames I have problems with, I cant tell if they suit me or not and the sales person is never any help. Why cant they be honest!

Good morning everyone.
I won't bother the doctor with my wasp sting Persie, I don't have time to get an appointment before we go away in any case. I took a cold wet flannel to bed with me last night and held that on it which helped. This morning I have a bright red circle 5 cms from one side to the other, I just measured it out of interest. It is just itchy, so will be fine in a couple of days.
My OH doesn't react much to bites either. We can sit next to each other and the mossies ignore him, or if he does get bitten it is just a small pinprick. I gate lots of bites and they turn into horrible blisters. When we are on holiday, I never go out in the evening unless I am covered in insect repellent. In some places they bite in the day as well and that can catch me out
It has been raining really hard all night, it has eased off a bit now and is just a constant fine rain

Persie .......... I didn't really mean to ignore you :-D
we had an earthquake, 6.0 or 6.1, deep under the ocean off the coast of BC on Tuesday
No damage done .......... too far off the coast
No tsunami ................... too deep in the crust

Hi Sue, and everyone
the weather has turned quite nasty on us ................ huge storm late this afternoon and over dinner time ................ thunder, lightening, very heavy rain, etc. Just in time for rush hour :-(
The forecasters seem to think we will be back to sun in a couple of days, with temps in the low 20s
Just had to read back 9 pages!!
Let's see what I can remember from what I read .............
Sue ........... hope your son doesn't have to be in Darwin very long with that high humidity
Huia ............. congratulations on your new great grandson Riley. Also congratulations on the happy parents
Diane ........... I'm so glad to hear that your father's estate has been settled, and you can now move on
Linda ................ do hope your wasp sting is much improved. OH got stung by a hornet or wasp a few weeks ago. It got him just under his eyebrow, near his nose ................ it went up and over the frame of his glasses. But he's lucky .................. he rarely gets a reaction! Unlike me!
Tec ............... I am so sorry to hear that you are having such trouble getting the ulcer to heal. I hope you get a course of antibiotics today
Re fish foot pedicures .......... they were banned here in BC in July 2011 ......... for the same reasons that Linda posted.
Berona ................ hope you are getting warmer now
Jem .............. so glad that your s-i-l is safe. What a thing to happen!
I can't believe that you have to get "special" clothes for physio ........... and especially that you are supposed to have a shower before doing your exercises.
methinks your physio is a wee bit over the top!
I've been going to physio since 1996, and since 1997 with the same guy.
I just have to wear comfortable clothes in the treatment room, no shoes ...... even went bare foot out of the room into the gym area. At home, I do my exercises in whatever clothes I'm in ................. usually my nightie in the early morning!
It IS a good idea to have your muscles warm when doing your exercises ............... I use one of those microwave warm bags.
I was / am supposed to do the home exercises 2 or 3 times a day ................. I'm lucky if I get time to do 1 in the morning 6 days a week.
The doctors here basically have 10 or 15 min appointments (mandated by the province's Medicare payment schedule). Most of them seem to ignore ti. They only get paid for the mandated time, but they prefer to make sure patients are fine.
You can also talk about more than 1 problem during a visit ................. although they don't like a serious problem that needs a big exam out of the blue! They then tell you to make another appointment for that, for the longer time that is allowed.
I should be about back to normal soon ..................
we had a delightful visit Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning with our friend from the Island.
There isn't anyone else visiting, THAT WE KNOW OF, until daughter and grandson arrive on Sept 29 ........... and 2 other friends also arrive the next day to spend the night!
I got a phone call from the doc Tuesday afternoon, following on from my doctor's appointment Thursday last week. I've been having a funny cystitis problem .............. get the symptoms, but can clear it up within 2 or 3 hours by drinking lots of water and cranberry juice. But then it returns in a few days. I'm getting fed up with getting up every 1 or 2 hours through the night! So I mentioned it to the doc .......... although it was not the reason I had gone to see him!
............... the sample looked clear to them, but they sent it for culture. I DO have a slight infection, which they ordinarily ignore "unless it is causing problems"
it is for me ............... so I'm on a 3 day (6 tablets) course of antibiotics.
Bloomin' HUGE tablets that I have to take morning and evening. I take the last one at breakfast on Friday morning
Then I keep my fingers crossed that it will have worked. I do see the doc again next Thursday about the change in bp pills.
Take care everyone
s xx

I have been all over the place this morning and chatting with Cynthia elsewhere.. she has put it up on the Christian thread about her Vicar. He has passed away (aged 58)..
I did get up early and have the washing out by 7.30am and then was on FB etc and then spent time with himself over breakfast etc.
So... once again I am late..
I do hope that doctor of yours clears up your leg Tec... it has gone on far too long. He can at least give you something to help whilst a scraping goes to the lab. Can't have you gobbling pain killers which only work on the pain and don't drive out the infection.. You may as well be taking smarties.
Linda your wasp sting sounds like it is going to be a dart board affair like mine.. the clinic did not give me anything, the doctor just drew circles on my leg and then charged me heaps.. (an arm and a leg I reckon) ..
Have a good day Sue, Huia and Berona and waves to Carole as not sure whether she is around or not.
Night all you up toppers..
Nurse Perse

I don't think I ever went there Sue - but it sounds very interesting.
Our weather is changing dramatically tomorrow apparently, a drop in temperature, and heavy rain.
I wonder if it will be cool enough to light a little fire in the new fireplace? :-D
Well I'm off to bed now,
Enjoy your day Sue,
Sleep well Jemima,
Hello Berona, and Persie
Goodnight, Tec :-)

We have a large arcade in Sydney - the Queen Victoria Building - that has a number of 'appointment only' stores. The arcade is beautiful with the original Victorian era tiles on the floors. There is an enormous clock that people wait to hear chime and the decorations at Christmas are wonderful. I love going there and window shopping.

Most shops in the Burlington Arcade will only open the door if you ring the bell, and some are by appointment only :-D
Do you think they would let Linda in? :-D
I don't envy your son having to work in that humidity - he must get very tired by the end of the day
