Goodnight Linda - sleep well.

The red kite feeding station must be the same one I've heard of - will go there one day hopefully.

Persie we also have tunnels under major roads for badgers to cross, and other facilities for hedgehogs to cross.

There is a road sign not far away that states "TOADS ON THE ROAD"
I don't know what they expect us to do :-D

The Brecon Beacons are not far from me Persie. It has recently been awarded Dark Sky Reserve Status, as there is no light pollution there. Excellent for watching natural phenomena at night! We go walking in that area sometimes.

The albatross colony sounds fascinating - would love to go there.

Jemima there is a red kite feeding station just South East of Aberystwyth, can't remember it's name, do you think it's the same one?

Did you know Jem.. (the others know) that they have little bridges built over the motorways for the Welsh Dormice to travel on?

Persephone

Persephone Report 6 Sep 2013 22:55

Tec.... Google tells me " Daily red kite feeding station all year round for rare Red Kites in Llandeusant at the Red Kite Feeding Centre in the Brecon Beacons, Wales."

Which I take it is in Carmarthenshire...

I have no intention spilling coffee on your slippers, Linda - perish the thought :-|

Good Morning Sue :-)
How are you today?

Persie- I just googled the Taiaroa Head Colony! It looks interesting. I will have a good look tomorrow. C/P
Satellite tracking
In 2007 three royal albatross chicks from Taiaroa Head had satellite transmitters attached to their back feathers so their movements at sea could be followed.
Every six hours, the albatross GPS locations were taken - giving positions to within 15m - and sent via satellite for mapping and analysis.

Good Morning Sue,, I have already made coffee, and ignore Persie, we don't have anything as awful as instant coffee here, only the good stuff

:-D

Persie, no I haven't been to Llandeusant - where is it?

Persephone Report 6 Sep 2013 22:45

oops sorri, morning Sue, did not see you next to me.

Curtsies... coffee is made ma'am.

Edit: had to go back a page for the last two..

Tec it is on Tairoa Head, Dunedin.. have watched our DOC people taking the baby Albatross fish for their breakfast.

Persephone Report 6 Sep 2013 22:44

Have you been to Llandeusant Tec..

We get Aussie Kites here and our conservation people here are not too happy with them because they interfere with our own Hawk's source of food etc.. so some vets are not willing to treat them if they get hurt. There are some that will because they say it is good practice for treating our own birds.

Hello everyone - my goodness I couldn't begin to reply to everything you have been talking about.

I wouldn't dream of going anywhere near your slippers, Linda - I'd make them squeak :-(

So glad to see our Carole back :-)

Tecwyn Report 6 Sep 2013 22:40

I think we are getting the rain you had Linda - it was a beautiful day here though.
I've been neglecting all my pots and tubs in the garden as I couldn't be trailing about carrying watering cans, so they will welcome the rain
