Hello Dianne

I am absolutely completely insane, otherwise I would not be on here... Carole is my best friend and taught me everything I know about sanity.

Hello everyone,

Welcome Dianne, I am in Victoria. I am the only sane one :-D

My eye test went really well. I had that computer photo thingy Linda :-) it worked a treat and I have ordered 2 new pairs, normal everyday specks and a pair of sunnies.
My last eye test was 5 years ago and not too much has changed. I also had a complete eye health check and everything is fine, I am very pleased about that :-)

Huia, I met my friend from Ararimu the other day and she had to drive past the smash up after the bank robbery. I bet the two bank robbers are laughing on the other side of their faces now.

What would have been a nice short run for you to Hamilton turned out to be a bit like peak hour in Auckland.. We are hoping when we move to Cambridge will be able to have a lot shorter journeys to all points of the island.. though we may still fly to Wellington from Hamilton.

Sylvs... Dunedin is a favourite place of mine.. worked there when I was nineteen and had a lot of fun as everyone lived within walking distance of the city. Saturday nights were just one big party night.

I went down to Hamilton this morning to visit my granddaughter and 2 gt grandsons. What a trip down! I saw a sign saying 'Incident near Huntly' but there wasn't any other info so I kept going until we came to a long queue of slow moving traffic. Apparently it was backed up for 14 km. After a while we were turned off into a side road but soon the queue came to a complete stop so after waiting 5 mins I turned round in a nearby driveway and went back to the intersection where the policeman on duty told those who wanted to go to Hamilton that they should go back (the other direction) to Rangiriri and cross the river there (by bridge of course). We went back, crossed over and came down the other side of the river until the next bridge just past Huntly. It added about 45 mins to our journey. There had been 2 car crashes, the 2nd one on a road diversion near the original accident site. Several people were injured. The journey home was uneventful, thank goodness.

Hi Sue, and everyone

Persie ............. we went to the Albatross Colony when OH and daughter were living in Palmerston North. I went down for December and January, and we did a 3 week tour round South Island. I even bought a souvenir there. It was a fabulous place.

I have so many good memories of my trip ............. Taiaroa, Kairoa Peninsula, Mount Cook, Christchurch, the train to Greymouth, etc etc

I finished my last antibiotic this morning (Friday), now have to wait and see if it did its work.

take care everyone

When I went to Broken Hill, NSW, I saw a Council truck driving on the road leading into B.Hill, and men walking beside it, picking up the bodies of kangaroos as they went. The truck was loaded and still not far out from the township. I understood that this was done daily.

Yes Sue- she also made "Art" from some. She had a pair of blackbirds, stuffed I think. She told them that one got hit by a car, and the other committed suicide! :-S

We have an Aussie version of Come Dine with Me. We also see the British one. Road kill? Did the other people know what they were eating?

Night up top...

Jem.. Sue and I watch the Come dine with me shows..

I saw the one on road kill. I really think the show should be called "How to behave badly at the dinner table."

Must away now so have a good sleep Jem.. catch you later Sue.. (I didn't see a Koala on the Ocean Road but loved the trip around the coast)

I will think of you on the Geelong motorway Carole.. We went out there just to look at the High school because we had missed it before when we were over at Geelong.

Cheers Persie

We have a Reality TV Programme here called Come Dine With Me. The format- 4 strangers each host a dinner party for the other three. They have to secretly award each other points- the winner gets £1000.
A couple of days ago, one woman gave the others everything cooked from Road Kill!

Well I must go to bed now,

Enjoy your day Sue, don't forget to vote :-)

Goodnight Linda - hope your arm is much better in the morning <3

We have seen a koala crossing the road on the Great Ocean Road, Persie. We were one of 5 cars that stopped to grab a photo. He looked so clumsy. When we were in the Outback we were advised not to travel at sunrise or dusk. When we were on the road we saw so much road kill and the truck that would travel the roads picking up the poor animals.

We have watch out for Penguins signs around the bays south of Wellington.

Have seen in Australia "Koalas cross here"... and I have yet to see a cross Koala as they are all so docile and dopey.

In Fiji the blimmin toads would come out at night after it had been raining and you had to watch out you did not step on them on the pathways.
