I have told this story on here before about my being blown off the loo, so excuse me for boring those that heard it before.

When I was three years old, we lived in an area that was badly bombed throughout the war, but by then the area was being hit by V1 and V2 rockets, flying bombs, called Doodle Bugs. These came over without warning, when the engine ran out of fuel, they dropped.
One Sunday morning my mother had left me sitting on the outside loo. Suddenly there was a massive explosion, and a Doodle Bug had hit the house (terraced) next door but one, taking it out, and killing the occupants..
My mother couldn't get out of our house because of blast damage, but when she did she discovered the lean to on the back of the house where the toilet was, was gone. as was the toilet, and me.
The back of the house was wrecked. I was eventually found 30 feet up the garden having gone over a fence, but incredibly still sitting on the loo. Because I was a small boy the explosion had forced me down into the pan, and a neighbour had to smash it with a hammer to get me out.
Nothing more than cuts and bruises, and while I remember nothing of this, I'm told I didn't speak or make a sound for six weeks after the event. That is how I came to be blown off the loo.
What a very undignified way that would have been to die lol.

Tec - who is off to bed now - Goodnight all.

Goodnight Amanda. I might as well say it to you, too, Sandie and Tec - because I need to be off. Don't want to go out, but I have taken the last of my tablets for something or other. Don't quite know what they are all for - but they work with each other, apparently and I'm not supposed to go without them Might as well get a supply of everything while I'm there. I don't really like getting down to the last one before doing something about it. With my luck, something would be sure to delay me.

Hope you all sleep well and keep warm. Talk to you again later.

Tec ..... I've just read your " Blown of the loo " tale ...............an awesome recollection ! Your guardian angel certainly had it's eye on you that day ,
I'm not surprised that you where so shocked you didn't utter a sound for all that time .

Good morning to all Aussies and Kiwis - on this first day of Summer. It's raining here!
When you Brits wake in the morning, it will be your first day of Winter.

In both places, the new season seemed to get ahead of itself - so now, it's official for the next three months.

We had a taste of summer early, but since then, we have been getting the rain we didn't get in winter. Still only very light here, but if it gets consistent, might be enough to water the garden for us. Once the rain started, our temp dropped back from 31 to 21.

Good morning to you Berona .....sorry to hear you have rain again , not a nice way to start your Summer .
I sent a Christmas card to my cousin in Australia , he lives in a place called Wodonga ( it makes me giggle when I write it on the envelope as it sounds like a weird place .....lol ) .

If our winter hasn't already begun I'm not looking forward to it starting in the morning !

Good Evening Amanda,
Good Morning Berona,

Amanda my guardian angel has taken good care of me when it mattered, which is probably why I'm still here lol.

Berona - I'm sure you will have a good summer eventually. If our winter doesn't start until tomorrow, I dread to think what's coming - it is ridiculously cold here.

Tec..........9-35pm.

Amanda2003 Report 30 Nov 2010 21:40

Good evening Tec ........ apparently Norfolk is over the worst of the cold snap , which probably means we will get hammered with snow during the night ....lol
How did your OHs leg get on today ? I hope the visit to the clinic went ok .

Berona

Berona Report 30 Nov 2010 21:44

Hello Amanda - there didn't seem to be anyone here, so I went off to other sites for a while.....Wodonga is on the border of New South Wales and Victoria. it can get quite cold down there.

I usually get my Christmas cards written on 1st Dec. Haven't even thought about them as yet. Still only have four presents of about eleven. My big problem is that I don't know what to get people. I like to put some thought into the gift, and that's my problem. I have no ideas.

Tecwyn

Tecwyn Report 30 Nov 2010 21:47

Hi Amanda,

Hope you don't get buried in snow tomorrow - it is currently snowing here, but not heavily.

Oh is having a small op on her leg on 9th Dec. GP wants to also do a biopsy to establish that the problem is what he thinks, and nothing nastier.

Tec..........9-48pm.

Good evening Tec and Amanda

Good morning Berona

Well wouldn't you know it, first day back at work and what have we got YES the white stuff GGRRR and BBRRR

I did not join you last night as I had to make a dash to A+E and guess what was there from 11-30pm till 5-30am this morning, got home about 5-50am and had a cup of well deserved coffee got a washed and redressed and yes you guessed it off to work ( via Taxi ) for 7am until 1pm then back home and straight to bed for a well needed sleep. Great first day back at work lol.

PMSL Tec at your loo story ( again ) did the same the first time I heard it.

Hi Amanda hope you are keeping warm and you didn't get the hi wind's that were forcast across the country.

Berona, are spring and summer last year was very similar to the way it is with you, early spring highish temp's then loads of rain for summer that we missed out on in the winter.

Amanda2003 Report 30 Nov 2010 21:51

Berona ..... I can't get into the card writing this year . I got the one sent off to my cousin as I didn't want to miss the cut off date ( not that I know what it is ...lol ) . I shall have to start off with the " easy " cards and work myself up to the ones that require a " newsy " letter enclosed . I'm a bit of a one for writing three paged epic letters at christmas but if I have to do that half a dozen times in one go I'll get writers cramp .....lol

I've started on the presents , I like buying the odd little novelty gifts , haven't tackled the " big " prezzies yet .

Berona

Berona Report 30 Nov 2010 21:53

Hello Tec - good to see you there. Yes, we no doubt will get summer eventually - and be praying for more rain before very long. January is usually our worst month for heat, and it can continue well into March, although it officially finishes at the end of February.

Good Evening Diane,

I do hope your nightime dash to A&E was not too serious - well serious otherwise you wouldn't have gone, but you know what I mean.
You must be very tired tonight.

Tec...........9-55pm.

Amanda2003

Amanda2003 Report 30 Nov 2010 21:57

Good evening Diane ..... I hope your ok , I don't like the sound of that wait you had in A & E ! I do wish you could get a bit of time out , your life sounds far to hectic : (

Tec , I hope the Op goes well for the Dutchess , your Dr sounds like a sensible one if he is making sure he can rule out anything " sinister " , waiting for results always tense and I shall have my fingers crossed for the Dutchess .

Tecwyn Report 30 Nov 2010 22:01

Hi Berona,
It wil be our shortest day in three weeks - 21st Dec - and your longest I expect.
It always seems to me to get darker and colder after that date, but maybe my imagination.
We have done nothing towards Christmas yet, and I can hardly believe how close it is, but as there will be only us here we don't have much to do.

Tec............10-02pm.

Diane Report 30 Nov 2010 22:01

Hi Tec, dash to A+E was a worry hun and yes I am a bit tired so I shall have an early night ( something I had intended to do last night ) but circumstances didn't allow.
Hope all goes well for OH's biopsy and thing's arn't to serious, is it to do with her diabetes.

Hi Amanda, A+E visit was nothing to do with my health it concerned my daughter and the long wait was caused by a lot of emergency intake's.
