Sue I was happy to hear of the new's about William and Kate and how nice that he gave her his mother's engagement ring.

Tec if I won the lottery I'd buy a house in North Wales in LLangollen and maybe a holiday home in New Zealand. Couldn't cope with too hot a place just one were I could go for the winter month's hear and New Zealand has it's summer when we have our winter.

Pam - these do have the yellow crests. Very cheeky too. I have seen them come into the back yard while a few of us were sitting around talking, and they help themselves to the passionfruit on the side fence.
Where I am, a lot of trees have disappeared in favour of 'progress' and we only have the smaller birds which land on roof tops and TV antennae. These are mostly starlings, butcherbirds, noisy miners, crows, magpies, currawongs, pigeons and doves. Occasionally, we see the beautiful lorikeets, when they come looking for the bottlebrush trees.

Diane, Llangollen is a lovely little town, but very busy in the summer. We used to go to the concerts at the International Eisteddfod in July. There's always something going on there.

William said on tv that he gave Kate his mother's engagement ring because he felt that in some way it included her in the occassion. Being an old softie I though that was rather touching.

Goodnight Amanda, Diane and Linda - no shoving and pushing:-)) Sweet dreams.

I think it's lovely that Kate has Diana's engagement ring. Wouldn't she have been proud of her son?

Goodnight Tec - sleep tight:-))

Linda, I don't think it strange she has Diana's engagement ring at all. I think that is a measure of William's esteem for his mother and for his fiance. He and Harry have made no secret of their feelings for their mother and I think it's well founded. She may have been a scatter brain in many ways but, let's face it, what would any of us have done under the circumstances? Charles has much to answer for.

Well, that's my opinion, anyway.

I must leave you now. I have an appointment for a haircut - so must away. Keep warm you Brits.
Sue - it is beginning to sprinkle. Great. I'm going out!
Let you know later if it develops.

Bye Berona - see you later. It's continuing to rain here:-(

Pamela - I just hope Diana's ring isn't a bad omen. That marriage was doomed from the start - Diana didn't have much chance with Camilla lurking in the background.

How true Sue. However, I don't think William is of the same stamp as his father, really. Sure he's had a fling now and again but still, he wasn't engaged to Kate then. Hopefully he's matured into a much more faithful human being than his father. As for Camilla, I think she was willingly co-erced into being around for Charles. I think the pair of them knew exactly what they were doing. I've read somewhere that their marriage isn't a bed of roses. If that's the case, maybe they are getting their just deserts.

I feel fairly sure that the Queen would have stepped aside for Charles to be King if she'd had sufficient faith in him. But who could have faith in him after his behaviour?

Ah well. Isn't it a good thing we don't have those problems here. Unless you discount some of the politicians we've had over the years whom I'm sure have seen themselves as Regal Rulers. lol.
Tell me Sue, how to you find facebook? I'd love to be able to see the photographs you all talk about but I know nothing about how it works. Or how safe it is. Can you give me any advice here please?

Humid as today - might only have been 25 - 26 degrees heat wise but it got very sticky.
Cold meat and salads weather around here. I did a roast of lamb last night so it will be left overs. I roasted some beetroot in with the potatoes and pumpkin and we had purply pink baked vegs, added flavour to the gravy.

Pam - I find Facebook is good to keep tabs on friends and family. I still don't know how to use it properly and I was confused when I saw my friends' comments on the same page as my family's comments. It takes a while to understand that when they look at my page, they don't see each other's comments. They can only see them if they are friends of each other, as well as of me.

It's not as easy to talk like we do here, although private messages are available, same as with GR, but I think most of us just enjoy looking at each other's photos.

I use the same name as I do here, but it's not my real name. Others use their real names on Facebook but not on here, and vice-versa. If you do decide to join, just give them the name you want to be known by and give no further information until you feel comfortable with it. You have plenty of us who can help.

I have heard and read so many stories, it's hard to know what is truth and what is newspaper talk - but one story I remember was that the then princess E was given a choice of a few young men with blue blood. There was no problem there because Phillip was favourite from the start. Then, when Charles and his group of friends went clubbing, Camilla was amongst them, but could never be considered because her blood wasn't blue. Things might have been different if the attitude was as it is now. Somebody must have realised that EVERY person has red blood.

Pamela

Pamela Report 17 Nov 2010 18:55

Thank you for that information, Berona. I may try it and see how it goes for me. I guess you can always delete yourself from it, can't you? The idea of not using your own real name is a good idea; there are a couple of people I just don't want to know where I am. Not that I've done anything wrong lol, but they have been a nuisance in my life in the past. That's why I'm a bit hesitant to use something like facebook.

I'll think on it.

I'm up early again today. My time clock seems to be all over the place. But it might be a good thing if I keep to this one for the next few days because I have to be up early to catch a 6am flight to Brisbane on Monday morning for work.

I know the stories you talk about Berona. I can recall reading stories about Princess Elizabeth when she was about 19 or so and the hunt for a husband for her. I believe in those days they had to marry someone who was of equal rank as themselves, in other words, had to be a Prince or Princess at least. Also, I read, that the wife to be of a future King of England also had to be virgin. Hence Camilla didn't fit the bill but Diana did. I think Diana hit it on the head in that TV interview that she did. If my memory serves me correctly she said something like "Once I'd produced the heir and the spare he was free to go his own way" He, being Charles, was free to pursue Camilla.

I have no time for the bloke at all. Also, I believe that the change in attitude of the Royal Family is Public Relations driven for the most part but also by the way the young royals have decided that they want to be 'real people' not plastic ones. Cynical, I know; but that's how I feel.
