Sorry... I was on the phone.

I meant to add that I think it is time that cases as horrendous as this should carry a mandatory life sentence witrh no possibility of parole.

I am pleased that I am not on my own in thinking that our laws can be too lenient at times.

Former England cricket star Chris Lewis has been sent to jail for 13 years after he was convicted of smuggling $216,000 worth of cocaine into the United Kingdom.

Where exactly are the 'scales of justice' being used? Certainly not in loss of life cases!

The mind boggles!

Wasn't questioning you Jac - just couldn't understand why the "authorities" were obviously concerned for her safety.

I suppose if she does have other children they would need to be protected - but I hope she doesn't have other children. Poor things having a mother like that.

I meant for their own safety whilst in jail - quite frankly (and if you read my post) the whole bally lot of 'em should be done away.

I do believe there are other children belonging to this woman, arent there? perhaps that's why her name has not been revealed?

I don't understand why anyone would be concerned for their safety?

I would love to answer this and have tried several times. But I just don't have the words to express how I feel about these people I really don't.

Poor Little boy :0(

He deserved justice. xx

I suspect it's for their own safety and that of their families that their names have not been revealed.

They should all have the "op" as well - make sure they never have any more children. Or yes, leave her in until she is post-menopausal - that would do it.

No, I don't. Also pleased that you called him by his name, Peter. Poor little mite, didn't have much of a life. Now that we know his name, I wish newspapers would stop calling him Baby P.

Jean - as far as I'm concerned they should all be exterminated forthwith. So, no I dont think justice has been done to that little mite.

Baby Peter's mother, her boyfriend and their lodger have been jailed for causing or allowing the boy's death.

The toddler died after enduring months of abuse in Haringey, north London.

Peter's mother and lodger Jason Owens were given indefinite sentences. She must serve at least five years and Owens at least three years.

The boyfriend was given 12 years over Peter's death and life for raping a two-year-old girl. He must serve a minimum of 10 years.

Old Bailey Judge Stephen Kramer said both Baby Peter's mother and Owens would be jailed indefinitely until "deemed no longer to be a risk to the public and in particular to small children".
