Hi Mo, and everyone
Mo ...............
your last post was number 8,500 :-D
Congratulations!
It poured with rain here Thursday afternoon afternoon and most of the night., then eased off during the morning
it really is raining right now. A good old Pacific storm .............. very wet and high winds on the coast, and lots of snow inland and on the mountains.
The skiers will love that!!
I had the basal cancer scraped on Wednesday afternoon ................... it was interesting! Something I'd never had done before!!
I was asked if a Medical student could also be in the room ........... and that was also interesting listening to the doctor teaching him, explaining what he was doing, etc ................ I learnt a bit more than I might otherwise have done!
It was on my shin ............... and seemingly that is a hard area for healing, and prone to infection. So I have to use a prescription antibiotic cream and keep it covered for the next 2 weeks, changing the plaster every day.
It didn't actually hurt too much .................. especially as he'd numbed it well!
It was hurting this morning ............... I sleep with a leg pillow, and I think I had been lying in such a way that pressure was on that part of my leg. It eventually wore off.
I only had one question ........ how did they know when they had removed all of it, and left none behind? After all, we're always being told about the "safety margin".
I got my answer ........... bit gory, but I got my answer :-D
I think we're going out tomorrow (Saturday) to buy my birthday present :-)
OH didn't have either a card or present on Tuesday morning ............. he'd bought a card by the time he got home on Tuesday afternoon :-D
We have a tradition of the birthday person being taken for a birthday dinner at a place we have never been to before, usually choosing a more expensive place than, say, Macdonalds :-D
But I honestly did not feel like a slap-up meal on Tuesday .................. so we went to our local little bistro. I had a super lamb shank meal.
Take care everyone

Hi Sylvia, I didn't realise we had reached 8,000 postings on here, well done everyone, lets keep up the good work please. I hope your shin heals quickly for you. You are a girl, having a young medical student present when the scraping was being done. I hope he was tall dark and handsome, and not squeemish (sp). Come on now, tell us how they know they have removed all of it, gory bits and all. lol I am sorry we missed your birthday, so a belated........................................ ************************************************************************************ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY DEAR SYLVIA. ************************************************************************************ Talking of Lamb Shanks, we have got a lovely leg of lamb for dinner tomorrow. It has been ages since I have actually bought a lamb joint, and crikey moses, it will be ages before I get another one. For a small knuckle end piece, it cost £9.00, but I shall enjoy it, and chew on the bone to get my moneys worth out of it lol Then I will pass whats left, over to our neighbours dog for her to finish the last few bits off.
We have got a beautifull sunny, but chilly day today. Thank goodness the rain has ceased for today. But I gather from friends, that we are due snow this coming week. That means hibernation time for me, there is no way, unless for an emergency, will I put a foot outside the door.
Enjoy the weekend girls, take care of yourselves. Hugs to all, Mo

Hi girls, Just popping in to say hello, as I promised. Sorry to be a party pooper, but I have not been to good over the last few days. I have got this blessed virus back again, and have not been out of the house, apart from going to darts last night, and I shouldn't have gone, as I felt dreadful. I do hope you are all well, and that our Sallie is on the mend.
Our Lilly will be three on Thursday...where has the time gone. I'm not sure if she is having a birthday party, and feeling as I do, I may have to miss out on a piece of birthday cake..boo hooo, I do like me cake, and my hips show how much. lol I can't risk giving the germs to the little ones can I.
Well I will say cheerio for now girls, take care one and all. Hugs Mo xxx

Hi girls, thank you all for your good wishes. I seen the doctor at the hospital yesterday, he told me that I have torn the ligaments down the side of my leg and the bruising is where they have bled. He said that it will take about six weeks for them to heal. Trouble is I can't get upstairs to my craft room so that I can make some cards, so as I feel a bit bored I am going to do some knitting....can't stand just sitting and watching TV......not much on anyway.lol!!
Mo, hope you will soon feel better, these viruses have a way of hanging on and on.
I can't believe that Lilly will be three on Thursday, if you are too poorly to go to her party, maybe they can save you a slice of cake.
Please give my best wishes to your friend Florence, hope that all goes well for her when she sees the Specialist on Thursday.
Jean, thank you for letting everyone know about my leg. Hope you and the family are all oaky.
Sylvia, so sorry I missed your birthday, so sending you belated Birthday Wishes. So glad that both you and OH enjoyed the meal out at your local bistro. Like both you and Mo I love lamb shank......lamb is my favourite meat.
How is your S in L. Hope that she is comfortable and not in any pain. Thinking about her and her family. Also hope that your leg is healing well
Marie, glad to see you back on the thread, sorry that I missed your post.
Huia, hope you are alright, I must have missed your posts. How are things with Phil, hope he is comfortable.Have you been kept busy at the shop lately?
Will speak to you all again soon.
Take care everyone.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Hi Mo, and everyone
the weather is still quite mild here!
Nice to hear from you, Sallie .............. take care with that leg
MO .......... take care, get better soon!
my daughter is now sick, and in hospital, so I may have to go over there.
we are in the last few days of s-i-l's life, I think
She is in no pain (well medicated), but she has not eaten for about 10 days, and is now asleep most of the time.
OH desperately wants to go to her Memorial, which will be held as soon after she dies as possible ................... but it looks as though I might not get there.
take care everyone

I have not been posting very often. I have felt rather lethargic. Besides which, I became a year older last Saturday. Phil had his birthday the previous Saturday. He is 84 now. I hope he will not last too much longer. I think that is why I feel so lethargic, a touch of depression that he just seems to be going on and on. He doesn't have a real life now. He has to be fed, and I think he forgets to swallow as he is so slow, so when I am there I rub his throat and ask him to swallow.
Sallie, our shop is going very well, thanks to me. I usually buy several things. Last Monday I bought 3 tops and a necklace and a couple of other things. Maybe I should stop working there, I don't have enough room for all these clothes.
Today I was looking at stoves and looking at other options. Over a year ago my 2 small hotplates were playing up, when I tried to turn the heat down nothing happened, so I cant use them, but I brought a double hob up from the caravan and have been using it until I get round to phoning the electrician. Now the oven itself is not working. I am hoping it is just a blown fuse from the thunder storms we had a couple of months ago. Having investigated options and prices today I now must find a sparky to come and look at it to see if it is fixable for a reasonable price, otherwise I might get a small oven (about the size of a microwave) as I rarely use mine these days. But then, I need the power points on the big one. Anyway, I will see what the sparky says.

Sylvia, have replied to you on Shaun's thread, but thought I would just say again how sorry I am to hear that your Sister-in-law passed away last night. My thoughts and sympathy to you all. Also, sorry to hear that your daughter is in hospital, I hope they are able to find out what the problem is as soon as possible. Sending her lots of Get Well Wishes.
Huia, lovely to hear from you. I can imagine how difficult it must be for you to see Phil as he is, as you say he is not living life as he should be. I feel so much for you.
Alun's brother-in-law isn't very good at all either. I Don't know how Lynda can keep going seeing him as he is......he is 68 and it's ten years since he was diagnosed, but it seems a lot longer to us all.
Hello to everyone else, and hope that you are feeling a bit better today Mo.
Speak to you all later.
Love, Sallie.xxx

Rest in Peace Daf. Sylvia, I am sorry to hear of your loss, but bless her she is not suffering now. My heartfelt wishes to yourself and hubby. It will be nice for you to see your daughter and grandchild again, even though it will be tinged with sadness following the memorial service. I do hope your daughter is not seriously unwell my love, but then she must be if she has been admitted to hospital, sorry for being so dim Sylvia.
Sallie, get Alun to bring some of your craft things down for you, for when you get bored with your knitting. I hope you are resting that leg of yours, and not chasing Alun round the house like a mad thing. lol I might treat myself to a cake on the day of Lilly's birthday party, a slice of cakes not enough for little piggy me. :-D :-D :-D I will pass on your wishes to Florence, and thank you my love for remembering.
Huia, I am sorry we missed your birthday love how remiss of us. And how sad that Phil is going down hill drastically, it's no wonder that you are feeling a bit down at the moment sweetheart, bless him Phil has lasted a lot longer than even you expected hasn't he. That shop of yours must love it when you are working, they see Dollar signs when you walk in the door. lol ;-) I hope the sparky can get your stove working for you Huia. They cost so much to buy now don't they. Even if you got a reconditioned one, you can't guarantee how long that would last either can you. I know there are places here, where they will give a one year guarantee on recon goods, but it would be just my luck that it would break down, one year and a day after I bought it.
Well girls, I will say bye for now, take care one and all. Mo

Sylvia, my condolences to you and your OH and family on the death of your SiL. She is at peace now. I hope your OH gets to the memorial ok. And I also hope your daughter gets better soon.
Sallie, just keep resting that leg
Mo sorry you are poorly, hope you feel better soon.
I have a cake in the oven (No it really is a cake!)
Why am I telling you this? Well I do like to report unusual occurences. I can't remember (we are talking years here) the last time I made a cake. Realised we had eggs going out of date, can't eat them all so I was forced to make a cake. Actually it was a miracle that I had all the other ingredients so hopefully it will be a fruit cake. Now, want a laugh? The cake tin is one of my original (must be 50 years old) and I used my Chefette which my OH bought for me Christmas 1967. And the recipe book I used was not one of my modern ones, it was a little free one from McDougalls dating back to about 1960.

Ooops sorry I missed you Ann, we must have been posting at the same time. Okey dokey, what cake have we got in the oven then, come on, share with aunty Mo. Things made back in the 60's 70's, were made to last Ann, and will outlast lots of modern day appliances. Like you, I can't remember the last time I made an actual cake. These days it's cheaper to buy one, than buy all the ingrediants. Cor I am getting lazy in me old age. Don't forget to put my piece of cake in the cyber hatch for later. ;-) ;-) ;-)
