Hi Mo, and everyone

it's not even 9 pm here ................... we're the last of the lot I think! :-)

we went from the high to the low this morning

9 am ............... hear the news that a very close friend has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada :-D :-D (OH did have a hand in this, but you don't hear whether it has been successful or not until "the" day :-) )

10:45 am ......... phone call to say that OH's sister has been taken into hospital, prognosis maybe a week ......... 3 days and 2 weeks are the extremes. :-( :-(

It seems she hung on for Christmas, and her children and grandchildren all being there.

OH wanted to spend New Year here, with me, so we have him on a plane up there on Thursday morning, returning next Monday. I'm staying here.

I will go up for the Memorial.

I sure hope that 2014 is a better year.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year, and the hope that we have peace, prosperity, and happiness

A very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year everyone.

Sylvia, I am sorry to hear your sad news, but as you said, SIL made it through Christmas and new year thankfully.
Roly lost his mum, the day after boxing day, ( a few years ago now ) and for a while, he and our children, were very loathe to celebrate, until such time as I made it clear to them, that mum/nan, loved the christmas periods that she shared with us, and would be deeply hurt knowing how sad they all were, so now they celebrate in her name.
So hopefully your SIL's family will be able to do the same, in memory of their parents.

Well girls, if this weather is anything to go by, 2014 has leapt in with a great big gust of wind and rain, yet again. Oh boy, roll on the summer months.....thats if we get one this year. lol

All my best wishes for us all in this new year. Hugs to you all, Mo xxx

Mo My Dad died on Christmas day 2001. I always said he did that because he loved Christmas and wanted us to always remember the day he died.

What awful weather to start the year with, ugh it is so wet and dark and howling a gale out there.

My son has a lot to answer for. We now have a 40inch smart TV (HD/3D) because the sport looked good on Stephen's!!! Thankfully we can't fit in a 50 inch!!! Which is what son has!!! Well I say we have got one. it is still in its box while OH sorts out the old one etc, so had to move the tree first so he could get there.. And no he just couldn't wait until the decorations are down!!!

Then...... Then, my office has to be 'adjusted' so the one from downstairs can go in here. And the one from in here can go in the front room and the one in the front room can go to the tip. all for a TV.
It is fun here!!!

Happy New Year, everyone
xxx

it is cloudy, with the sun trying to break through ........ and no rain. A very nice day!

We had a quiet New Year ............ just the 2 of us. We watched some TV for the last 30 minutes of 2013, then OH went to bed, and I followed about an hour later!

Thank you all for your good wishes ............ the news was expected, but not as soon as this :-(

At least, she got through Christmas in reasonable shape, all her children and grandchildren went up, and she even managed to get to the 6 pm Christmas Eve Carol Service at the church in my avatar.

take care everyone

Thank you so much Elizabeth for the kind wishes, I am sure all the others will soon be adding their thoughts too... it never ceases to amaze me how some words can lift ones spirits, so my friend reading yours to us has hit the right spot, aches and pains ,upsets and missing loved ones can be helped with the right wording, I pray that all the last years upsets are now a distant memory, although in some cases never forgotten... so onwards and upwards or in my case everything seems to be going downwards ;-) ;-) ;-) as my friend Mo can testify to I am sure , so happy new year . to one and all home and abroad. your words over the years have been inspiring and comforting.... many thanks for such lovely friends and new ones too....from me who has become very maudling..

Hello my maudling friend Tsk Tsk!!! :-)

We are looking to taking down the decorations tomorrow so that T can easier 'play' with his new TV toy!! That always makes me melancholy. I love my decs and hate taking them down.

Elizabeth, what lovely sentiments, thank you so much. I hope you will have a healthy and contented year in 2014 as well. <3 <3

Mo in Kent Report 2 Jan 2014 17:07

Tsk, Tsk, Jean, you must have been looking through my bedroom window recently, everything on my body has gone downwards for years now, in fact my spare tyre has now developed a spare tyre, and the puncture outfit I received for christmas, doesn't cover the punctures anymore. lol
You are lovely as you are my love, and have had a lot to endure over the last couple of years bless you, and you have stayed so strong. Keep plodding on, just as we all do, knowing how much you mean to us all. (Luv ya honey <3 <3 <3)

Thank you for the lovely words Elizabeth, they mean a lot to us on this thread, bless you, and stay healthy in 2014, and beyond.

Ann, you have made me chuckle, I have visions of T struggling to get the panoramic t.v up on the wall. lol
We had to get our son to do ours for us. Apart from the fact it was very heavy, Roly struggled to know how to mount iton the wall, even though he had all the instructions. Thank goodness our son had the know how, I didn't fancy ringing for an ambulance, with Roly suffering from damage to himself.
Our tree came down today, thank goodness, I got fed up of picking bits of it up from the floor.
Roly took the outside lights down as well, and I must admit, the room looks enormous now.

Got to go now, time to dish dinner up, poor Roly is running round with his tongue hanging out...not a pretty sight at his age. lol
Hugs to all, Mo xxx

AnninGlos

AnninGlos Report 2 Jan 2014 17:46

Mo, no, not on the wall thank goodness, this one id free standing, but where the tree is is very close to the TV so he can't get behind to play with all the wires that go to all the various other bits and pieces (security camera, surround sound etc. I had visions yesterday of him leaning over so far that all I'd see would be his feet sticking up behind the TV. It is murder getting him to be patient and wait!! :-D

Mo in Kent Report 2 Jan 2014 19:03

Oh Ann, I can just imagine poor T, with his legs in the air, stuck behind the t.v.
I thought you meant a model that went up on the wall, like ours. The darned thing is enormous, considering our lounge is quite small by comparison to it.
Our neighbour over the road, has asked us the turn the sound up, as she can see the picture very well from her lounge, but can't hear what is being said. lol

Mo in Kent Report 4 Jan 2014 16:50

Oh for goodness sake, what happened to the lovely long post I just wrote.
Well I do hope the weather is better in your area of the U.K than it is here.
It's been raining so hard, that the raised bed by our shed, is water logged, so much so, that Roly has suggested that we grow rice or water cress next year.

We had our Lilly today, and the naughty little minx, managed to lock herself in the bathroom.
She ran up the stairs so quickly, that I couldn't catch her.
I started to panic, as I have bleach and cleaning products in there, and the little devil would not open the door.
We pretended that we were going out, and shouted bye bye to her, and saucy chops shouted out bye bye back.
Just as we were going to break the door down, she opened it, whew what a relief.
Now all cleaning products are removed, just in case she thought iy was funny, and decides she will do it again.

Stay safe a dry my friends, talk to you soon, hugs Mo.

SylviaInCanada Report 4 Jan 2014 20:27

Hi Mo, and everyone

Oh Mo, what a worry for you!!

Do you have to break the door down if she does it again??? Over here, bathroom door knobs have a little "hole" in them where you can stick in something thin (like a knitting needle) and it operates the knob. I don't know quite how it works, 'cos we never had to do it, but I know it's there as a safety feature.

Thank you all for your good wishes.

the sun is shining here, it took some time to burn off the morning cloud (or fog) ........... but it was a lovely sunrise. It was about -1C overnight, and will get to about 5C today

Daughter had over 40cm of snow from Thursday evening to Friday evening, PLUS very cold temperatures for them ...... -10c, which felt more like -27C due to the wind.

That's still a whole lot warmer than in Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, where it has been below -20C since before Christmas, and often down to -40C (which feels like -50C when the wind blows)

She got out her snow shoes, snow shoed about 1 km down the hill to the ferry terminal, across on the ferry, then snow shoed on the flat about another kilometre to her office.

About 4 of them made it in ............... she was hoping for a very quiet day to catch up after the Christmas break. Unfortunately, their clients also made it in, so they had a busy day!

The Senior Partner drove them all home at 3 pm.

Today they are digging out ................. on another very cold day.

Monday for them is forecast to be +10C and raining!

I went shopping yesterday ......... I really went to the store to pay my off the credit card from last month, but ................ :-) :-)

I found a lovely short sleeved, open front, open weave knit cardi, in a silver grey wool with added sequins in the wool ...................... for less than $20 (or about £8).

It had been reduced by over 60% :-D :-D

Take care everyone

Hi Dear friends, it is Marie from a very hot Aust
. I have been watching the cricket 5 Nil to the Aussies Yipeee!, not rubbing it in but we did play well..
I am sorry to see that you are having floods in England while we are praying for rain the western parts of our country are suffering extreme temperatures and no rain while Western Australia in the north have just had a cyclone,we were all hoping some of the rain would come across to the eastern States but it did not happen, I have had to put the Air conditioner on several days running, a cool change came through 2 days ago what a relief it was I have managed to get 2 night's of good rest.

I had a quiet Christmas Lunch with Barbara my daughter just the 2 of us then Dinner
with Ryan ,Tracie & Jaimen that was very nice as this is the first time that Jaimen has really understood Xmas he was so excited I really enjoyed being there.

My Son Ryan & I put a Triangel Sail, (Shade cloth) up over my courtyard to shade my pots as the heat has been very hard on them, I am very pleased with it.I should only have to water them once a day now.
The snow storms are causing Havoc in the northern parts of the globe I hope you are not having snow as well as floods.
We are having some fires one large one on Stradbroke Island but that is about it but every where is terribly dry and could go up at any time especially if we get storms with a lot of lightning.

My grandson will be off soon he is going to Melbourne to live and Teach in the primary schools there, I will miss him he will be sharing a unit with 2 other University Graduates. I do hope one of them can CLEAN and the other one COOK.,I can imagine what the place will look like YUK :-( :-0

I wish you all good Health & Happiness for 2014

Hi Sylvia and Marie, good to hear from you both.

Sylvia, the bolt on the bathroom door, is a slide along one, so we can't open it with a screw driver. I just wish we had bought one like that.
Cor luv a duck, it sounds sooo blessed cold where your daughter lives. She was very brave venturing into work, I have to admit I would had crawled back into bed and stayed there for the day.
I don't blame you for having a little spending spree on yourself. Crumbs the saving on that cardie was worth it.
Plus the credit card will still get paid regardless, wether it's in full this time, or next, hey enjoy.

Marie, ahem please don't mention the cricket, it's a swear word in this house at the moment. Roly couldn't believe how badly England played, but could take nothing away from the Aus players, as they kept it all together and wern't scrappy like our team were.
It sounds like the weather in OZ is different in all areas. When my cousin rang me from Queensland last week, she said they were expecting another glorious day. If she wasn't my cousin I could seriously hate her, especially the way we are becoming webbed over here. lol
You will miss your grandson when he goes away to teach, he has always been so close to you.
And he will soon learn how to cook and clean, when he has nobody else to do it for him. We do tend to spoil them don't we. My eldest grandson has been at university for two years now, but will not leave home, whereas his sister, who now attends the same Uni, intends to find herself a flat, and become independant. But then I think thats a girl thing, being independant, plusI find girls mature quicker than boys, or at least they have done in my family.

I am glad that you both had a good christmas.

Must go now, take care everyone, love and hugs to you all. Mo

Good morning campers how are you all? its some time since we all had a good chat, 4 days in fact, tsk this will not do,so thanks to Sylvia and Marie for keeping us going.
seriously I hope there are no problems with our usual folk and also any new friends who may care to add now and then , it does help to chat now and then, I think the lousy weather gets us down, it must be terrible for those who are in flooded areas, we just have some rain, although I dont like the winds...so roll on spring and summer,
Mo, what a tinker your Littlie is, can you move the bolt higher up so she cant reach it..
our young un is tasting everything, new shoes , loves them it seems :-D I cant believe he will be one next month, little miss next door came in and threw a wobbly she has temper so off she went home quickly :-| :-| but can be such a sweetie usually, her new baby brother is the opposite so placid .....J is off to the dermtoligist (sp) this morning , so they can look at his arm. the one spot seems to have shrunk but there is another close to it... better to find out, though...well better go and get dressed before he goes, back later be good....

Hello all. Jean your latest cards are lovely, have had a glance but then had to go out so will study them a bit more later. Lovely and sunny here today and quite mild. The roads are still very wet as there is nowhere for the water to go, however we did note that ditch cleaning was being carried out this morning.

Maybe little miss next door is feeling her nose a little out of joint with the new baby. Maybe the temper tantrum makes sure she gets attention. How old is she?

Mo is the loo door lock a bolt or a key? Ours has a bit in the middle that you turn but it can be opened from outside with a sharp object which you poke through the hole. Ah looking back I see Sylvia has the same. And I have just noticed your post too. So can you move the sliding bolt? Sometimes they lock the door by accident. If it is a bolt, as Jean said, can you move it higher up the door?

Marie, Nice to have shade on your patio, only wish we needed it at the moment, we are more likely to need an ark!!! I am sure that your son will be fine, they usually manage to survive.

Had a nice 'present' in the post today. This years bowel testing kit Ugh!!! Still must do it to be on the safe side. :-) :-D

Her next door is a very clever three year old and sadly began at an early age to wrap her mummy round her finger, now said mummy is trying to assert herself , but I think she has left it a bit late and daddy is so laid back .... but lovely with it ....she had a sweetie D promised she would save for her , but then decided she wanted more, so shouting at her mummy, I was having a nap and missed it all, had I been down stairs I dont think she would have carried on, one look from me and she calms down...thankfully she is usually quite good when she comes in, but she does kick off at home. such a sweet little girl too...mum should have laid the ground rules from the start, but they are a lovely family.....J had the offending spot cut out the doc said he didnt think it was anything sinister but they would send it to be tested too be sure....now I am going to do some more cards, cant stop doing them....got new dies to try out too.... so love you and leave you ...
hugs to all Jean xx <3

Mo in Kent Report 9 Jan 2014 16:34

Goodness me Jean, it sounds like your littlie next door, and our Lilly have been chatting, and copying each other..
My word, she has such a temper on her. Roly had to pick her up, and take her to nursery this morning...ooooh no, she didn't want to go, so she went rigid and refused to get into the car seat...now that doesn't work with grandad and myself, so she eventually sat in the seat with much moaning and groaning.
I don't think they should have told her of the new baby due in May, and mummy allowing her to stroke her stomach giving baby a cuddle, as she puts it. Jealousy has set in already, so lord only knows what will happen when the baby is born.
Mummy gives in to her every whim at the moment, and after the birth, she wont have the time to devote to Lilly, as she does now.
The funny things is, she knows she doesn't get away with it from us, so will only try it on for a while, and then gives up.
Jean, did your doctor cut the offending spot away for J, or did he see someone at the hospital. Fingers crossed for the results, I am sure all will be well my love.

Oh Ann, it must be nearly time for us to do the poo test again as well then. I believe we did it around the same time as yourself last year. Not a nice subject I know, but oh so neccessary, especially as my aunt had bowel cancer.

My friend with the cancerous growth up her nose, finished her radiotherapy just before christmas. The treatment has made her lips swell so badly, that they bleed, even with the Aqueus cream they gave her to use.
Bless her, the redness is now fading, and her nose is not quite as sore. She sees the specialist on the 16th, to make arrangements for them to rebuild her septum.

I have had to put a colour on my hair today. I looked at some photo's that had been taken at the new year, and where my hair has gone so light, I look like I have seen a ghost. It had given my skin that translucent yukky look, so I am now back to my beige blonde. Oooh if only it wouldn't fade so quickly I would love it, as I don't like to have to keep colouring it.

Well girls, it's time for dinner, chicken and chips today, yummy.
See ya's all later, love Mo xxx
