Ahem ... Mel my colleague, a word in your shell-like please.

I am the Health & Safety Officer, a full risk evaluation was carried out prior to this, it has been passed with flying colours.

Thank you. xxx

As a 'duty of care' I would like to advise that CORGI has now been replaced with effect from 1st April with a new organisation called 'Gas Safe'....
Er I still have a young lady with a hot knob in her hand (brass £9.99 from Wilko's - other suppliers stock similar products)

As health and safety officer I am well within my rights to see the risk assessment for this thread ~ or I can fine you on the spot ~ unless of course you have a pastie about your person!

So she ran into her ensuite where under EU Regulation there was a hand basin & soaked a towel so that she could grasp the hot knob & turn it releasing her & the vertically challenged hosts from the house. It was most fortunate that they had followed the 1996 guidelines & replaced all items containing foam, much reducing the risk from carbon monoxide poisoning.

Staffs Col Report 15 Apr 2009 18:56

Once upon a time lived a vertically challanged person of either sex but whom bore a likeness to a person of the male gender. He lived together with his six equally vertically challanged colleagues (although I hasten to add this was all platonic) in a small house (provided for by the local authority or other provider) in a small village (other towns and areas available - please ask for details).
One day (within the 48 hour working time directive) a young lady approached and asked to stay the night (Under common law this is acceptable).
The seven vertically challanged males agreed and showed the young lady to the spare bedroom (all electrical appliances had been PAT tested and fire evacuation procedures were clearly marked).
During the night (as defined by the ECOD - European Commission on Darkness) the smoke detector activated (Kiddie other brands widely available) With much hurry the seven vertically challenged males and the young lady went to make their escape but oh dear said the young lady as she made her way to the door .....''.the knob is hot''
