I agree with Daff, it's the parent's business what they call their child. I notice the Olivers have gone for a flowery theme with all their children. Lets face it names such as Mary, Ann/e, John, William etc are all only common because lots of people chose them. If only a few people had chosen them then they'd have been unusual too. Personnally, I'm not a big fan of Petal, if going for a flowery theme I would have gone for Lily or something similar but that's me. |

I don't think it has anything to do with anyone else, lol.... I called my younger son a perfectly ordinary name, and 15 years later a comic (?) turned the diminutive of it and his other name into a foul expression!! He now chooses to be called something else!! Don't blame him, either. |

Hopefully they will never move to an area where some of the population use 'eh up petal' as a greeting or else the poor childs going to be very puzzled as to why everyone seems to know her name. |
