Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 27 Mar 2009 12:31

At home I say Hello.

But wrong numbers do make me laugh. They ask for whoever and I say "No, I think you have the wrong number." then they say. "Well, what number is that?" and I say "What number did you ring?" so they tell me the number and I say "No, it's the wrong number." Spare me!

PMSL Mick - with you on that one lol

I've often had calls like that - I just say 'well who are you? you rang me!' ......... usually turns out to be a wrong number lol

I had one once 'hello is Dave there?' ........... 'no sorry you have the wrong number' (i know that cos i live alone and don't know a 'Dave' anyway) ............. continues 'are you sure?' ..... 'yes - i'm positive, but hang on i'll go and check he's not in the bedroom' lolol

2 mins later he rings again - same scenario lol

What I really love are those idiots who ring you up and say "Who's that?".

I always say- "Well you should know- you rang me!"

Then I hang up.

he figures if its someone we know it is funny, if it's not someone we know they shouldnt be calling as that number is exdirectory and we dont give it out.

don't get much opportunity to pick up the phone these days.
If it rings when we're both in Mrs igor snaps it up with"it won't be for you, "
and do you know what it never is.uncanny i call it.
An hour later when it does go down , because Mrs Igors mouth has had enough circuit training she says "i told you it was'nt for you did'nt i,besides nobody wants to ring you
i say they don,t getthe chance cos your always on it
In fact give us a quid and i,ll go down the pub and ring my mates from there
she says here's 40p ring them all
oh the joys
even when caty (grandaughter) rings i ask "what you been up to Caty" i get not now grandad i want to talk to nana

Hello, or if it a a family member normally don't even manage to say that before they've said hi and I know who it is from their voice.

I know a couple who recite their number down the phone, its not a good idea for security reasons, I mean the person calling you should know your number they don't need it repeating. I do understand the point in doing this when they had the old fashioned 'party?'/ shared lines, but now its just wasting your breath.

Not one gets my name or any other details till I know who they are, cold callers either get hung up on or when they ask to speak to Ms X I ask if they could tell me what they are calling about, if its not a cold call they are normally more than happy to explain why they are calling or even say its X from Y.
