It seems that Google have launched there UK street map at the moment it looks like the big citys London Liverpool etc and surrounding areas Had a look this morning Our house is not on yet but found my sisters who lives in Bradford
(have to have a word with her about state of her garden her bedroom curtains look a bit dogey too)
but it is quite good just type in your postcode and it will tell you if there is a street view , it gives address as well so you can follow the street till yo come to it.

hi All - after reading what everyone has put on here, I have managed to access the map of the address I was looking for. Now, and please do not laugh at my ignorance, how do I 'Drag' the little orange man to the street I want. I have tried clicking onto him, but that doesn't work.
Many thanks

I must be pretty useless. I use google as my search engine anyway, so typed in address that I wanted.... nothing. Type in google maps and then address.... nothing. What am I doing wrong?

Hi try Google Earth, I have the program on my computer and its really good (I think so).
You can just put in a street name and it will have a drop down box with a list of streets with the same name and viarious location e.g. Cross Street, Chesterton or Cross Street, Manchester click on the one you want and it will take you there you can zoom in, it has icons for bus stops, schools, churches ect, it gives you all the places of interest and road names and numbers, I've found it really helpfull because I have difficulties in seeing where places are in my mind, I have recently found the church where my grt grt grt grandparents are buried and found the precise details of how to get there great.
Also, if my memory serves me correctly you can put pics of places that may be of help onto the maps(it does say something about that) give it a go

Hi Pauline - I do have Google earth on my computer but was intrigued by the descriptions of the 3D maps but have had no luck locating this site yet.

I am getting the map, but what I really want is a photograph of my grandparents house which is still there.
No luck for me today... ;-0(

I'm looking for some of the little roads and they don't seem to be included - I can move along East India Dock Road for example, but can't turn into Jeremiah Street.
Still, it'll keep me out of trouble for a while :-))

On BBC Web Site,

People are now complaining about their houses being photographed ,so Google Street are having to black out houses after the complaints.

When you think of it ,I suppose its a criminals paradise ...!!

There were interviews on tv yesterday evening re google and they said you can have your home blanked out if you want.

Will have a look later, knowing our luck they will do our street when all the new horrible bright blue bins are outside waiting to be emptied. They look awful.

My house is close to the city - will have a look and see what I can find, o.h. has to put Google back on here as we lost all the stuff when we had the computer problems and he doesn't like me downloading things, (little does he know lol) but he said he will do it this weekend.

Better get off here, he is home early today and don't want him catching me on here lol
