Years ago, I went to the Church Bazaar (do they still have them?) with my nana. In the raffle, I won first prize.

A fully functioning , hand made fort, made by one of the vergers. How pleased was I?

I took same fort home and it was set up in the corner of the living room, right beside my younger brothers' hamster cage.

Wrong move, mam!

Younger brother took the hamster out of its cage and gave it free run in the hand made, fully functioning fort.

I really hope that that hamster enjoyed his time in Avalon, before the very-realistic portcullis guarding the entrance (made of the verger's used razor blade) did its worst......

Well, as you say, in it to win it. Keep trying, Michelle saying about bug sprayer reminded me I also won some car cleaning stuff. The funny thing was when doing all the comps, if a prize arrived it invariably didn't say where it came from. but to win the postcard ones you had to send off at least 6 a week.
You don't see so many comps in the supermarkets these days, there used to be loads, they were the ones with big prizes which I never won.
Good luck.

Soooooooooo Ann and Michelle........it's good to hear that you've won something.........I'd like to win ANYTHING.......the car and the £2500 worth of assorted prizes would be favourite..........but I'd even settle for the £10 crossword prize from the local paper lol

I need some good news........so am going to carry on for now til the sight of a crossword makes me feel nauseus lol.

In the past two years I'v won heaps of things from magazine and on line competitions here in NZ. Mostly small stuff, I am waiting for my latest magazine win - a cd player clock radio - to arrive in six to eight weeks after being published in the winners page of the magazine. The magazine is one where you do a heap of puzzles and have to arrive at the winning words for a variety of prizes.

My other wins recently were a bug sprayer and bottle of bug spray and NZ$200 worth of skin care products.

The trouble with the magazine competitions is that s many people enter and they are only draws just as a raffle would be. All the correct entries go into a draw.

Having said that I did win a book in Practical Family history. won a travel scrabble in the local paper. and I have won a few small prizes from the 'send a postcard with name & address' type comps. Favourite was a day out at Gatcombe for the show jumping, others have been cookware and childrens toys, nothing big. used to do a lot of competitons at one time but don't do many at all now.
